Your Cosmetic Feedback Could Shape What’s Next in Last Epoch

Why don’t you look at what the competition or other live service games are doing instead of listening to some loud minority.

-Skill MTX. PoE has purple cats replacing projectiles, flashy wings, portal skins, giant fist kill effects, etc.

-Quality designs, look at D4, skins there looks so good

-Hideout. It’s embarrassing there’s no hideout and we have to stare at this empty soulless floating rock between monoliths.

-Novelty items. Goblin troupe sells, that’s why there everywhere and people hate them. But they sell.

-Utility. Items that don’t effect gameplay. Atlas devices map timers, currency tracker ring, harvest juice tracker.

-Pricing. Despite what people say about buying cheaper MTX, expensive things are probably more profitable. There might be a reason huge AAA companies who probably spend millions on research have decided $40+ dollar skills are the best price point.

At this point if EHG hasn’t been profitable, maybe start taking notes from GGG/Blizzard to see what’s been working.
Also try to fix your game bugs, some skills are bugged since day 1

  • Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?
Ability changes. Often times in an ARPG your character gets lost in the diarrhea Christmas lights, with the ability animations being the lead contributor to the visual clutter, they make the most impact.
  • Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?
So few games offer cosmetics catered towards the stereotypical female marketing. I love my flower smoke bomb. I wanted the flower dash trail, but hated everything in that bundle and couldn’t justify the price tag for a single item I liked. Everything is cool and/or edgy. Please have more options that are pretty or cute.
  • Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?
So… much… visual clutter. Everything is drooping, has spikes, tassels, etc. It’s so noisy! Less is more.

I feel there are 2 major problems, one is harder to adress and requires the work that implies to change the game engine ( unity has some clear limitations) and the other problem i think there is the art direction overall the game.
The actual cosmetics doesn’t feel grounded , players want to feel powerfull but in the context of the game, no like some god from other game. LE needs a LOT more of grim dark/evilness into the art direction.
Im not saying that you need to copy PoE or Diablo, but find your way to use your own resources and story to shape new ways of seeing tragedy.

  • Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?

---- I believe that skill mtx and armors / weapons have some of the best potential to offer better cosmetics, and off course back attachments, everyone love these (its possible to make them more flexible? They move too little) –

  • Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?

— I STRONGLY recommend you to stop the theme of dinosaurs (at least the vision you are currently shaping), and others child-ish ideas (maybe is the wrong word, but i cannot find other as im writing this). I personally feel really really off, when i see a character with a shark helmet, a T-rex walking around, all in a cartoon looking way. Im feeling a 10-year old kid playing with glue
Last epoch would bennefit a lot from being more of like grounded-dark art style, more low fantasy.—

  • Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?

–the reality is that , except from some skill mtx, all of the articles in the shop are not cool, because armors and characters in generall feel too static (characters moddels need to improve a lot) ,armors doesn’t have movile pieces, looks like they are made from cardboards, too light weighted (plus the “game feel” its no helping either, the characters seems to “float” througout the maps, same as skills looks like just sparks, rather than feel the impact on the ground and on the enemies) and weapons needs to be more inspired, they are too generic.

After writing all this, i truly love Last epoch and i want to see the game evolve, because there are some great systems and good ideas, EHG i think just needs a clear direction where they want to go and see what the player base feel.

Hey there!

I think, most of the quality of the MTXs is fine. The supporter packs itself are fine too i would say. Don’t know if we need 4 tiers of it, but ok. (Make it more clear, that supporter packs can NOT be upgraded after bought once…there are still some brains out there, that haven’t got it yet^^)

I do see space for more active/alive MTX styles. Certain visuals that change on certain requirements, kills, rare kills, maybe total exalted stat amount (Tier 20 - Tier 29) or LP value on the whole character or so. Something that reflects the total progress you have made with a character. Maybe an armor, that gets beefier the higher the armor amount, or a shiny layer/trail the higher the current ward or something.
With that in mind, switching to another character would have to lower that visual appearence, to keep it “realistic and logic”. The better the character, the cooler and thiccer the visuals can get.

I also think, we could need MOAR of them all. One for all seems fair, more for one skill is a dream, so if you really have characters, skills that you play again and again, from season to season, it would be awesome to have multiple choices for the skill you play. Thats a hell of work to be done though.

What i personally do NOT need:

Pet skins and espacially PET SOUNDS. <— make them an own sound layer please, which we can deactivate. If pets have no real value beside being there, i don’t need them in the first place.
Avatar pictures, titles and stuff like that, everything that is not directed to the game itself but to the space around.

What i DO WANT:

HIDEOUT SYSTEM:
Orobyss styled hideout
Aberroth styled hideout
Jungle styled hideout
volcano styled hideout
→ insert more stuff here^^ ←

I think it is fair to give the player a base one someday (i know you like the idea of a hideout) and starting from that, players can buy hideout base types. We spend quite some time there, we see it all the time, these MTX could be cool i guess.

UI visuals would be awesome. Health globe, castbar, ressource bar and everything in between.

Mouse cursor, ONLY STYLES, → size has to bee customizable per default!!

Styles:

  • galaxy styled skills, dark matter ish skills, plasma styles, more of that would be nice.
    flames/ice/light, the basic stuff
    Final Words:

Beside MTX, which we could need more of… i just want to leave a note regarding monetization of the expac. ! Just get yourself payed !
I don’t see Last Epoch as a primarly visually astonishing game and even with new MTX we might see, i don’t see a profitable future with just these and if even Season 2 couldn’t do it for you… ask for a price, period. If a loud minority really cries out, because they have to pay for a certain amount of content, after a certain amount of time… ignore it.

Maybe hideouts will bring a large portion of income at the start though… Have purchasable hideouts prepared on the roll out!

Last Epoch looks beautiful on its own, but it is not a graphical sensation, though, MTX don’t bring it on a new level and i think MTX alone won’t do it i guess., if it is just the standard.

Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?
The supporter packs at the moment of course are the best value, and the skins from them are among the best you offer. (Note I bought both the Primal Legend and Woven Legend packs). Additionally, I enjoy skill mtx. Especially when they can make a skill appear to fit a certain overall theme that I am going for with all of my characters look. E.g. if I was going for a paladin or holy priest kind of look, then making all of my abilities look like holy abilities would be appealing.

Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?
Generally, I just want there to be lots of strong, complete visions of sets that fit core RPG or Elemental themes. I.e. something that makes me say, “Yes, this is a cool way for a lightning caster to look” or “Yes, this is a cool way for a medieval styled knight to look”, etc.

Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?
The main reason i’ve avoid buying anything in the shop is that either the item doesn’t appeal to me aesthetically, or it does not currently fit with any themes that I want to play with for any of my current characters. Additionally for the shop, I try to look for sales of items. On that note, I would also say that if the shop could update what is on sales more frequently, like what PoE does, that would be nice. Since I want to spend points on on sale items, I would be more likely to spend more points if more items I want are on sale more often.

I’d happily pay for the ability to change gender and to customize my character models more. And if you release it, add the possibility to retroactively edit your characters genders etc. Would be cool to e.g play a male necromancer. Been waiting for that feature for a while, hope it comes (fingers crossed)

Please add good quality - minimalist - inspired by dungeons and dragons aesthetic skins…

fortnite/mobile aesthetic of yours is very poor and not immersive while i really want to support you guys. I will stop playing game on any forced content paywall and will to spent even 300$ on skins - when you deliver
-minimalizm aesthetic with no over-designed armours
-based more of aesthetic of dungeons and dragons. Good class fantasy armours and not fish…or deformed skulls
-metal elements not being plastic and moving like gum. Even supporter packs have this issue so metal deform like plastic on breathing, moving.
-more class themed stuff. Mage want to be mage not a fish and barbarian to be barbarian
-No flashy fortnite skins… Like current bone weapon are tottaly destroyed by this.
-Also proper body/shape proportion. Skulls looks like deformed pugs and not actuall skull of a thing we wear. Body and weapon proportions need to be actually accurate.
-Big iron simple sword like guts sword will sell better than any flashy fortnite sword with ton of ornaments like gothical architecture.

All of them because they look fugly. I even wasted all my currency because I’m under the impression that EHG can’t put out good looking MTX at all. I like MTX that follows a theme but then again look better if it is for looking like a badass or putting a female toon in a bikini just to eat popcorn and listen to people complain.

LE offers nothing it’s not to my taste at all. Even in D4 I could say “This looks awesome!” because the outfit is different and looks awesome and sometimes there I get that tingeling sensation that makes me want to buy MTX for a seconf or two.

For LE… the colors are off, the style is questionable at best because I don’t want my toon to look like a clown. Basic Sentinel armors are the most pleasing to my eye and no MTX comes close to it.

It’s a question of taste in the end but if MTX isn’t looking like an upgrade I want to slap on I’m simply not intrested at all. In LE it’s even worse because me the MTX is ugly.

Your primal items uniques… are peak of design in 2D art - and you are adding 1/10 skins compared to what 2d images you have did. Just make that unique design “true”.

I would like to see more custom skill cosmetics. If I have really enjoyed playing a particular build I will often look for skill cosmetics. It can also influence my decision on which build to play next if I see something interesting.
Otherwise, I think back attachment cosmetics give the most personality to the characters

I don’t have much to add except I think you could work on the cool factor of the supporter pack sets. More sleek, more stylish and less gaudy.

None I can think of.
Edit: There are certain cosmetics that I’m just not that interested in and won’t purchase individually. However, I will watch a stream for a free Twitch drop and I want to support the game and am therefore happy to get them included in whatever Supporter pack I look at buying. These are things like pets, portals, portrait frames, footstep effects etc.

BONUS REQUEST
I would also really love something like a unique showcase stash, with dedicated space for one copy of each unique/legendary item and some indication of what percentage of uniques you have found. I would pay money (~$20) for this feature. It’s a really great way to add something like a ‘Holy Grail’ challenge into the game and would incentivize playing each season to find and collect the new uniques. I understand if you are a little hesitant to monetize this but it truly wouldn’t be adding any gameplay advantage since stash space is freely acquired with gold earned in game.

First of all: cosmetics don’t improve gameplay, so it doesn’t matter how good cosmetic mtx if game doesn’t deserve this support, now keeping this in mind…

  • when it comes to cosmetic type, skill visual and sound effects are the most important because those can kind of change how using some skill feels as well as theme of the skill so for example if player doesn’t like fire theme they can change it
  • quality and price: since Last Epoch and Path of Exile share big part of the audience cosmetic should have good enough quality and reasonable price in comparison to PoE mtx to be even considered. At the moment models look like cheap plastic toys.

Combination of these things will determine if mtx is worth buying.
Also I didn’t track all recent updates but after situation with Krafton there is a lot of trust to get back and there MUST be 100% transparency.

Much as many others have echoed, there is clearly a side of the MTX development that should be focused on more, given the nature of this game, and that is the Skill Cosmetics.

We are not looking at our character like it is World of Wacraft or Final Fantasy XIV. We are in a top-down ARPG. We do not have hub cities with hundreds of people around to admire our drip. We are nuking screens with spell effects, burying ourselves in visual effects.

Entire skillset bundles would be a big move. Selling multiple skill cosmetics that are typically used together for a single mastery, having a shared theme, will always pull more for most.

Skill Cosmetics are the biggest thing that should be focused. Portal effects can be cool, but at the same time, they are not visible to other players at any point in LE. Appearance cosmetics are kind of the bottom rung for me, as they usually ask for the highest price tag, for the things that I will see the least of in gameplay.

1: Skills
2: Portals
3: Pets
4: Armor

For me, it’s all about the helms. If you put out some helmet / headgear designs that are more in a traditional fantasy style (hoods, tiaras, clean look at character faces, etc.), I will buy those.

  1. Stash tabs: They have a practical aspect rather than being superfluous.
  2. No, I’m not one who buys mtx.

As such, recommended action would be taking away people’s stash tabs and letting them buy those features.

If that’s out of the question, then here’s the best ideas off the top of my head:

  • Consumable skin transfer
  • Consumable recoloring
  • Consumable adding of fx. horn to fx. armour

Cosmetic Bugs? Keeps resetting

a complete bias on my end with no basis in the quality of the cosmetics themselves, but I’ve really only bought anything dragon themed or dragon theme adjacent.
I just like dragons

I also have been having some financial struggles of late, so haven’t been able to get all the cosmetics I want

Players like value packs and since you sell only single item/armour set transmogs people don’t feel they get a good value for them. You should consider selling Armour + Weapon combo’s at that 200 price point. Also all Weapon transmogs should be universal so they can be used for all weapons of the same category; 2H weapons, 1H weapons or Off-hand weapons, and if you make the same style for all weapon types including off-hand’s and sell combo packs that include them all in a single discounted pack you will make money. The harsh truth is that nobody wants to buy a single weapon class transmogs.

I’m not gonna respond to the three points in the question because honestly, they miss the real issue with Last Epoch’s cosmetics. That said, I do wanna explain why me and my friends who are all big fans of Diablo-style ARPGs haven’t spent a dime on cosmetics in Last Epoch.

We’ve talked about it a lot in our group, and the main question that keeps coming up is: why are none of us interested in buying cosmetics here, when we’ve happily spent money on stuff in Diablo IV and both Path of Exile games?

And the answer’s always the same: the cosmetics in Last Epoch just don’t look good. Compared to what you get in other ARPGs, they’re not visually appealing. They don’t pop, they don’t have that wow factor, and they don’t make you wanna flex your character.

Bottom line: the only reason we’re not buying cosmetics in Last Epoch is because, artistically, they’re just not on the same level as what other games in the genre are offering.

Hello, please consider doing alternative weapon sets, as well as different kinds of armorer sets from different time periods from all over the world.

Hi,
for me the cosmetic doesn’t matter much, but what i’m willing to buy are the physical item (like a T-shirt / hoodie / plushie / ect)
Regards.
