Your Cosmetic Feedback Could Shape What’s Next in Last Epoch

asking 10-20$ for 1 spell skin and 2 items is a ripoff
there is a lack of value for your packs

Also, for the sake of $$$, provide unique transmogs at the price of $999,999.99.

Big spenders (whales) will pay for unique skin that no one else can have. But it shall be unique, like 1 sale and it is gone.

I would personally love to see earnable cosmetics every season a la D3/D4. I love having something permanent to work towards and having little trinkets to say “yeah, I got pretty far in season X.” Really contributes to my overall experience.

Even better, they could start fixing the skills nobody touches. The general(non mastery) skills of every class are basically all trash, maybe except sentinel’s. And season 3 really didn’t help.

If someone told me that some non-mastery skills were actually buffed and are viable I wouldn’t argue, its entirely possible that some interaction made them viable, for example flay harvest lich. But even if now harvest has a place in a build, its skill tree is still boring and now it cant even be properly buffed because it has to be balanced around its interaction with the flay builds.

Damn, i just want a pure harvest build not some supplementary burst damage harvest in my flay build.

TLDR: as long as EHG doesn’t think of non-mastery skills as possible main skills but just as support/supplementary skills, there is no reason to buy skill effect for them.

I would only spend on skill effects. And even then probably only “main skill”. As much as design wise it makes sense to create skills you spam for buffs or something in between uses of you main skill, it just wouldn’t make sense to spend on those. It doesn’t matter how often each skill are used in the build, the support skill can be used multiple times as much as the main skill for all i care, I still wouldn’t buy skin for it before the main skill.

Skills being viable by themselves not just as glorified active buffs, is probably the biggest purchase incentive for me. also while i appreciate the joke skins, they are a hard pass for me.

Thx EHG. Season 2 was great, keep up the good work.

gimme the whale icon and whale title

Q: Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?
A: I prefer armor sets, even though they are really expensive after currency conversion. I like that I can use them regardless of the weapon I am using. Pets are awesome too.

Q: Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?
A: Not a big fan of wings, time-travel and generic purple themed stuff. I would rather see some steam-punk, rugged, Spartan styles.

Q: Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?
A: I prefer more humble visual themes, I avoid anything with too much sparks, fire, lightning, and such.

What I like, mainly just skill mtx and portal skins. Although I do like a good armor mtx set here and there.

I agreed with a lot of feedback in this thread but I wanted to express what drives me to make a purchase because the MTX isn’t the driving reason. It’s a game being fun, enjoyable, having strong replay-ability and new things to do. I’ve spent multiple thousands of dollars supporting POE over many years and usually buy a support pack or two every new league (if its worthy- there have been a few leagues that didn’t earn a purchase). I supported EHG-LE in the kickstarter and only ONCE since then because I thought you guys did a good job with “tombs of the erased”.

So we get to the real question here. Why is it that I’ve only bought one support pack since the kickstarter? It’s not fun right now. Season 3 Ancient Skies was a dud overall (there was some good in there though). The end game of LE really needs to expand, evolve and change. The monolith system in its current form just isn’t very fun and has gotten overwhelmingly stale season after season. New skills need to be introduced (semi frequently like poe did) to keep things fresh (maybe a new class or two). We need more items or systems that allow us to modify how skills function mechanically like some of the the fun items you’ve already introduced into the game (squirrels, toad helm etc.) We need different and challenging content to keep things fresh.

Bottom line is, if I’m bored with the game, or the fun factor dies off in just a few days after a season (like this last one) then I am more than likely not going to make a purchase. You need to give me a reason to want to make a purchase and it all comes down to fun, engaging content, evolving the systems in the game, expanding them and introducing new mechanics/systems beyond just nemesis type encounters (nem, exiled mages, ancient skies beasts etc.).

just my two cents…wish the EHG crew the best.

Aaron from Action RPG nailed it.

I love the skill MTX’s and wish there were a lot more of them please!

Overall, I think the quality could be improved but they have been getting better as the game graphics have improved.

I would absolutely buy more in the store if I had more options that I really liked, especially the Skill effects. Honestly, I would like more of everything please, Armor, Weapons, Portals, and Skills.

Pets are fine but I really don’t use them too much because they don’t do anything so I would rank those last on my list.

Thank you -

Please allow pets to pick up gold like in Diablo 3. The pets are cool, but I’d LOVE for them to have actual utility then I would care more about actually spending money on cooler looking pets to pick up my gold.

One of the upvoted comments on reddit is the base character models look like shit.

this is one of the most unapologetic comments that i’ve read but EHG needs to hear it.

coming from poe1/2, D4 and even titan quest 2, LE simply is lagging behind when it comes to the game’s looks. no disrespect to the people behind the art team but the current art design in LE is not appealing enough.

it is not distinct enough to be it’s own thing. instead it falls into “looks weird”. to give credit where its due it look MUCH better than it used to. but as is it lacks the polish that other games have. TQ2 is the latest to the foray. by default their character models look much better than LE.

that said, i find it hard to justify buying an mtx to make my “ugly character” have a ribbon on top. it’s still “ugly”. i have bought mtx for LE before but if i m being honest, its because i want to support EHG and not entirely because of the MTX. it really was a case of “buying the devs a beer” more than “I WANT THIS MTX”.

i have a long love hate relationship with POE, but at times i buy their MTX just because its cool. d4 has plenty of high quality MTX which objectively speaking has a very high level of quality. i dont buy d4 mtx tho out of principle. also one major factor is the mtx’s in d4 are class bound so it does devalue the purchase by a huge lot.

if you want people want to buy MTX, your game needs to look cool at base level. LE simply is not there yet. i have friends who like the IDEA of what LE has to offer but they simply find the game unappealling visually

  1. Character comestics (Armor etc …): Need to really fit the theme of the character. For the sentinel, I expect to see more high/low/dark fantasy type of armor that a knight would wear. A dark fantasy armor like that one Guts (from Berserk) wear is definitely more appealing than some of themed season armor that we received.

  2. Pets: I love animals, so looking forward to see more furries being added, cats, dogs, wolves or squirrels. Give me

  3. Characters skills and spells: Give more love to Necromancer pets - new looks that fit the theme of last epoch.

  • Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?

    • The skill effects and the supporter packs.
      • Skill effect changes are really cool and can change the look of a character regardless of the build you use. Want a void theme Acolyte? Get the skill effect for wandering souls. This opens the door for more personal character customization. However, you also need to keep in mind what skills are being used. It would be pointless to make cool effects for skills that are niche.
      • The supporter Packs offer a lot for the price and are a good deal. However, for a lot of people it is still a lot of money. I even slightly regret getting one of the packs though I like a handful of the items in it. Having a tool tip that breaks down the item cost verses savings would help alleviate this a little as well as selling the items separately too (even at a slightly higher price than none pack skins would be fine).
  • Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?

    • Themes;
      • Base Class and Mastery class themed armor and weapons! Having armor sets and weapons themed for each base class and then each mastery class would be cool. However, you’d need to see what weapons each base class and mastery class uses the most as this would increase the chance for sales rather than just making what looks best. It has to be for weapons people are using or else it just won’t sell.
      • Holiday themed skins and effects! Having themed skins for armor and weapons as well as skill effects and maybe pets would be amazing! I was really hoping for something for Halloween, especially since my main game let me down but we got nothing. You could even bundle the skins as a set and sell them separate or do multiple skins and sets and then offer them at different cost levels.
      • Add more effects to the skins. The weaver set skin is really cool when you are idol and the webs come out but you only get to enjoy this when you are idol!
      • Side note; the theme sets would also include the effects for dodge, foot trail, pets, and portals skin too.
    • Build templates. Don’t get me wrong, this can still be locked via mastery (i.e. you can’t run each mastery class on one character). Having build templates for gear, passives, and skills would be great. One of the best things about Last Epoch is how its not locked into a hard meta like your competition. Yet we can’t enjoy this luxury of build diversity because we only have one tab for gear, passives, and skills. Personally, I would like to be able to also have templates to swap and mess with the other mastery classes too rather than running another character of the same base class. This is my stance and I’m not sure how you the developers and the rest of the community would feel on this given changing mastery classes after already picking was a pervious concern.
    • Dyes! Allow for use to change the colors of the armor skins (and maybe weapons and other cosmetics). You can add dye colors for account unlocks via drops and/or through the shop too! Heck, you could even sell outfit templates too!
  • Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?

    • Armor pieces. You having some amazing armor skins but its just one or a few parts and not a full set. Because we can not change the color of the skins it makes it that much harder to mix match induvial parts that do not have a complete set. A great example of this is the gilded pestilence helm. It looks amazing but does not match/fit anything! This makes it look odd and uncomplete on its own.
    • Pets; It would be more worth the cost if pets could at least collect all of the non-gear loot items such as gold, crafting materials, keys, etc.
  1. Skill MTX is the most valuable to me.
I’ve played for quite a long time, so I think the main reason is that it adds a fresh feel.
Also, since they were added later, I think there are a lot of attractive ones.
The only disappointing thing is that they don’t support to skill convert.

  2. My priorities are Skill MTX > Portals > Pets > Back Attachments >Footprints >Weapons and Armor.
So I’d be happy if skills, portals, and pets were more appealing.
But there’s definitely a need for more variety overall.

  3. I’m not sure if I can describe it well, but I want something stylish and transparent.
Whether a design is good or bad is a matter of personal preference, and also whether it fits into the game’s worldview, so I think it’s actually a very difficult theme.
Personaly, I don’t really like buying things that look like toys style.
Incidentally, I think it would be better to add more stylish MTX options first, before adding funny style MTX such as the Sea Tyrant’s Maw and Sea Prowler’s Demise helmets. :shark:

Concrete example.

There are just my personal opinion.

MTX armors

Temporal Gurdian Chest
Crystalweave Plate chest
Temple knight chest
Oblivion’s Champion chest
In these, I think the prominent decoration in the center is a bad idea.
I think this is probably one of the reasons why it looks toy-like.

Wyrmscale Aegis
I think it’s basically a good piece, but the presence of the eye makes the shield look comical, which makes it seem out of proportion to the rest of the piece.

Skill MTX, I think most of them are good, except that they don’t support converting.
①However, there are a few that I’ll probably never use in my lifetime

Desert warcry
The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was a fart.
(Incidentally, I think Warcry’s voice lacks impact to begin with. To me, it sounds more like a knockout voice than a battle cry.
(i.e., the sound a character makes when they lose in a fighting game, etc.))

Matron of death reaper form
The base style without MTX looks more refined.
This may be because I already own the Scourge Armor and Deepcrawler Embrace attachments, and this skin has a lot in common with them, so it doesn’t feel fresh.
I think the soft, thorn-like things around the shoulders are probably unnecessary.

② Here’s other things I wanted you to improve:
Ichor rip blood
Shadow arts Dancing Strikes
Inky Flay
Steelblade Multistrike
These are simply too plain.
If more other black-based skill MTXs are released and it’s possible to have all 5 skills in black, there might come a time when I’ll use them…
I’m not saying I’ll never buy one, but for me it’s very low on the priority list.

Majasa’s fang thorn totem
I own already this, but I feel the crystal base is not beautiful.

Shattered Series
I think it’s generally well made, but the fragments are either too deep color or too big size, which makes it feel like a toy, and I personally don’t like it that much.
If the fragments had been glass-like, I might have bought it straight away.

③ I found the following to be particularly good:
Cosmic series
Cherry blossom smoke bomb
Malicious Lightning Blast
Arcane Elemental nova
Whimsey Fireball
I think these are very beautiful and sophisticated.

Others

Ⅲ Pets
As for pets, I think it’s fine for there to be some unique ones if you’re planning to have a place for them like PoE’s H/O.
And I’m mostly satisfied with them except for the existence of different colors.
I’m of the opinion that auto item pick up by pets is unnecessary.
Than that, I’d be much happier if there were more pet idle motions.
…I was disappointed that Cat, Temple Familiar, didn’t look very cute, probably because of its eyes. :joy_cat:

Ⅳ Portals
I’m also generally satisfied with the portals.
This may be a minority opinion, but personally I don’t think the time it takes for a portal to appear and be completed needs to be made faster or more consistent.
This is because the current specifications allow the portal to be used even before it is fully completed.

For example,
Huolong Gate has the dragon suddenly accelerate between bending its body and breathing fire.
Reaper’s call has the Reaper quickly spread its arms.
Pyroclastic gateway has the dragon jump onto the portal in a hurry.

I don’t think these are very elegant.
Personally, I think it would be fine for them to move more slowly.
I think there is more expression you could do if you weren’t so focused on completing the portal quickly.

If you take too long, you might eventually receive strange criticism like, “They’re trying to pad the playtime with this kind of thing.”
However, these examples seem to be cases where the very attempt to complete the portal quickly results in movements that lack MTX grace.
Therefore, I think it might be worth creating a few portals that take a little longer to complete.

Ⅴ Shared Spaces
In this game, compared to PoE, there are fewer opportunities to see MTXs, and I think that’s one of the issues.
Because there seem to be few shared spaces and towns, and few reasons to visit them.
Personally, I’m not someone who actively wants to show off my gear to others, nor am I someone who actively wants to see others’ gear.
However, seeing vibrantly dressed people overflowing makes me feel the energy and passion.
And I can’t deny that feelings.
So I think it need to create spaces that draw people together.

Ⅵ EP price
Personally, I also think there’s an issue with the EP pricing.
Honestly, the supporter packs are such a great deal that buying EP separately feels overpriced.
I’ve considered buying the EP several times, but when I think about how many MTXs I could get for the same price with a supporter pack, I just can’t bring myself to do it.

Edit,
Is it a bug that all words within the Detail tag are displayed in uppercase?

Skin for Wandering Spirits

Very Nice

I’ve really liked:

  • footsteps because it’s pretty visible all the time and gives the character more “weight” instead of floating over the ground
  • skill mtx because much of the power fantasy comes from the skills and this leans into that
  • wings because they’re super visible and fancy!
  • portals because we use them so much

Themes I’d enjoy:

  • classic magic, dark shadow fantasy themes
  • water themes like sirens, waves, splashes, I just love water

Mtx I’ve avoided:

  • tornado ones because they’re so cluttered and give eye cancer
  • meh armor, gloves or shoes that are hardly visible on my char

Every month, I buy 1-2 items from the shop just to support, but there aren’t many things that appeal to me—the MTX themes are too limited… It took me 3 seasons to mix and match a fire set for myself. If possible, please create a reaper form in the style of a bikini or something like that :stuck_out_tongue:

I supported the game before it was released and have a certain amount of coins in my account. However, I still haven’t bought a single MTX, even though I have coins. Please don’t be offended, but almost all sets of armour, weapons, and portals look like they were generated by AI and have little to do with the game’s lore, except for the names of these sets. However, you could easily rename them and no one would notice the difference. This is an important point because, unfortunately, it is not the appearance but the name that determines the affiliation of a clothing set. It should be the other way around — I should be able to tell which part of the game this armour set refers from just by looking at it. Companions, such as chronoworms or animals, are more or less suitable as they are taken from already existing 3D models. In my opinion, there should be more contact between those who come up with the lore and the artists for the MTX. You are sorely lacking in art direction, unless this is a deliberate tactic for creating MTX sets. I hope my response was not too harsh and that it will help in the development of the game. I really like it and thank you for creating it!

Typically I find bundles with close to the cash value in currency along with full sets to be the most appealing. Feels like you get the cosmetics for free, even if the price is a bit higher.

I could go on for days with the answer to this question. Lately I have been wanting to see more cosmetics that are designed with modernized european style armor. With lower profiled helms and back attachments. The Fingerprint Set from Elden Ring is a great example, minus the the fingerprint. I personally like semi matte (white, grey, black) metallics with deep red cloth accents.

It would be cool to have evolving/adaptive skill cosmetics. Given that we can change the elements and damage types, having the skills showcase those changes in noticeable ways would be something I’d pay for in a heartbeat. Especially if the cosmetic were to translate into only needing the one for multiple themes. I would likely pay much more for it over multiple cosmetics for the same skill to accomplish the same effect. Even if buying 5 unique skins would be less than the one.

We need more passive skill cosmetics. Things that do more than just change the color of an aura. That would be a perfect place to start with the previous idea in my opinion.

Honestly, I personally purchase cosmetics regardless of my preference if it fills a niche and supports the development of games I love. The only time I have avoided buying something was when the price was obviously far excessive for what I was getting.
