Your Cosmetic Feedback Could Shape What’s Next in Last Epoch

I would like to see more custom skill cosmetics. If I have really enjoyed playing a particular build I will often look for skill cosmetics. It can also influence my decision on which build to play next if I see something interesting.
Otherwise, I think back attachment cosmetics give the most personality to the characters

I don’t have much to add except I think you could work on the cool factor of the supporter pack sets. More sleek, more stylish and less gaudy.

None I can think of.
Edit: There are certain cosmetics that I’m just not that interested in and won’t purchase individually. However, I will watch a stream for a free Twitch drop and I want to support the game and am therefore happy to get them included in whatever Supporter pack I look at buying. These are things like pets, portals, portrait frames, footstep effects etc.

BONUS REQUEST
I would also really love something like a unique showcase stash, with dedicated space for one copy of each unique/legendary item and some indication of what percentage of uniques you have found. I would pay money (~$20) for this feature. It’s a really great way to add something like a ‘Holy Grail’ challenge into the game and would incentivize playing each season to find and collect the new uniques. I understand if you are a little hesitant to monetize this but it truly wouldn’t be adding any gameplay advantage since stash space is freely acquired with gold earned in game.

First of all: cosmetics don’t improve gameplay, so it doesn’t matter how good cosmetic mtx if game doesn’t deserve this support, now keeping this in mind…

  • when it comes to cosmetic type, skill visual and sound effects are the most important because those can kind of change how using some skill feels as well as theme of the skill so for example if player doesn’t like fire theme they can change it
  • quality and price: since Last Epoch and Path of Exile share big part of the audience cosmetic should have good enough quality and reasonable price in comparison to PoE mtx to be even considered. At the moment models look like cheap plastic toys.

Combination of these things will determine if mtx is worth buying.
Also I didn’t track all recent updates but after situation with Krafton there is a lot of trust to get back and there MUST be 100% transparency.

Much as many others have echoed, there is clearly a side of the MTX development that should be focused on more, given the nature of this game, and that is the Skill Cosmetics.

We are not looking at our character like it is World of Wacraft or Final Fantasy XIV. We are in a top-down ARPG. We do not have hub cities with hundreds of people around to admire our drip. We are nuking screens with spell effects, burying ourselves in visual effects.

Entire skillset bundles would be a big move. Selling multiple skill cosmetics that are typically used together for a single mastery, having a shared theme, will always pull more for most.

Skill Cosmetics are the biggest thing that should be focused. Portal effects can be cool, but at the same time, they are not visible to other players at any point in LE. Appearance cosmetics are kind of the bottom rung for me, as they usually ask for the highest price tag, for the things that I will see the least of in gameplay.

1: Skills
2: Portals
3: Pets
4: Armor

For me, it’s all about the helms. If you put out some helmet / headgear designs that are more in a traditional fantasy style (hoods, tiaras, clean look at character faces, etc.), I will buy those.

  1. Stash tabs: They have a practical aspect rather than being superfluous.
  2. No, I’m not one who buys mtx.

As such, recommended action would be taking away people’s stash tabs and letting them buy those features.

If that’s out of the question, then here’s the best ideas off the top of my head:

  • Consumable skin transfer
  • Consumable recoloring
  • Consumable adding of fx. horn to fx. armour

Cosmetic Bugs? Keeps resetting

a complete bias on my end with no basis in the quality of the cosmetics themselves, but I’ve really only bought anything dragon themed or dragon theme adjacent.
I just like dragons

I also have been having some financial struggles of late, so haven’t been able to get all the cosmetics I want

Players like value packs and since you sell only single item/armour set transmogs people don’t feel they get a good value for them. You should consider selling Armour + Weapon combo’s at that 200 price point. Also all Weapon transmogs should be universal so they can be used for all weapons of the same category; 2H weapons, 1H weapons or Off-hand weapons, and if you make the same style for all weapon types including off-hand’s and sell combo packs that include them all in a single discounted pack you will make money. The harsh truth is that nobody wants to buy a single weapon class transmogs.

I’m not gonna respond to the three points in the question because honestly, they miss the real issue with Last Epoch’s cosmetics. That said, I do wanna explain why me and my friends who are all big fans of Diablo-style ARPGs haven’t spent a dime on cosmetics in Last Epoch.

We’ve talked about it a lot in our group, and the main question that keeps coming up is: why are none of us interested in buying cosmetics here, when we’ve happily spent money on stuff in Diablo IV and both Path of Exile games?

And the answer’s always the same: the cosmetics in Last Epoch just don’t look good. Compared to what you get in other ARPGs, they’re not visually appealing. They don’t pop, they don’t have that wow factor, and they don’t make you wanna flex your character.

Bottom line: the only reason we’re not buying cosmetics in Last Epoch is because, artistically, they’re just not on the same level as what other games in the genre are offering.

Hello, please consider doing alternative weapon sets, as well as different kinds of armorer sets from different time periods from all over the world.

Hi,
for me the cosmetic doesn’t matter much, but what i’m willing to buy are the physical item (like a T-shirt / hoodie / plushie / ect)
Regards.

My small feedback and example of “bad skin” or " * Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?". 1) Example: Smite with some talents in tree become a beautiful crackling lance/lightning coming from sky and when i use “blood skin” - its not become “blood lightning” - its become some sort of “blood snot” which i dont wanna see or use. So before purchasing some cosmetics ,especially if its skills - i wanna see the final result and how exactly this work with other talents. Yeah, smite was free, but this stopped me from buying some other skills. “what if this doesnt work/look well with talents?!” 2) I like to combine different parts of different sets in many games, not only arpg , to make something more or less unique. Right now we have not much good sets/armor skins and we almost cant combine them to get a good visual result. May be it will be fixed with time or smt like that 3) I personally like to play acolyte(warlock, lich, necromancer) - warlock skills already have cool visual, but for lich - may be better transform?or some options? Something with crown and wings like “angel of death” and green-black style instead of blue? May be new animations for harvest or reap? For necromancer - more minions skins. Cause they are looks “casual” , exactly like minions which we see in the acts. And something what i like in PoE - its achievement and some “free rewards” - im missing this system,. In poe i bought quite a lot skill skins (almost every shaper skin) , As for the armor - not much can to say… More “demon knights”,more “dark fantasy” skins, more “dark souls style” and i will absolutly avoid “asian” style skins when in the “dark fantasy game” we see robot-skins or something like that. Also would be nice to see re-color options. For example i wish some green-black transform lich with wings and crown, but may be someone want red-black or gold-red-black etc. At this point waframe have the best re-color system ever existed.

Here are my thoughts. Let’s look at POE2 first and why I buy cosmetics there. I played a warrior in Abyss for about 100 hours and towards the back end of my playthrough I bought a cosmetic skin as a way of giving the character a ‘finishing touch’. I spent so long with that character, put so many hours into working on the build pushing it as far as I felt I could take it that giving it some cool looking armour was like the icing on the cake. It was sort of like a sense of pride and satisfaction. It felt like My Character because I had put so much into it. Once I had got everything I wanted out of that season, I moved onto another game instead of making a new character. 100 hours was enough for me. Next season, if I get another 100 hours out of one character I will probably buy another skin for the same reasons.

Now let’s look at LE. With LE, characters tend to feel ‘disposable’ due to how quick you can go from zero to hero. Although I always enjoy my time on a character, I never feel that same sense of ‘journey’ or ownership as I do with a character I have spent 100 hours on. I’m not going to make multiple mages every season (where I would get the most out of a cosmetic), and I’m not going to buy skins for all classes either because money, so the value proposition goes down. I will only buy cosmetics for my ‘main’ class that season, and if my main doesn’t feel valuable to me, then I’m not going to spend money on it. But, the problem is that chars tend to feel a bit more ‘pump and dump’ in this game compared to, say, POE2. You level them very quickly, max their gear out quite easily then move on to the next character (importantly, leaving the cosmetic behind as well). So all in all, for me it comes down to a bigger problem (sorry!) of not just making cosmetics worth a buy in isolation, but how to make characters themselves feel valuable enough for the player to want to spend money on.

As a side note, I also think a character with a good cosmetic needs to look good everywhere it wears it, including on the character select screen and other ingame menus. The game around it has to look good otherwise it cheapens the overall effect of the cosmetic. Whenever I log in to the game, I want to get a little kick out of seeing it in the cosmetics I’ve bought. The current menu looks very dated and it’s incongruous to have a sicko looking character surrounded by dated menus and artwork. Ingame, yes it looks good because you have done a good job on updating the gfx. My suggestion would be to update the character select screen; premium looking crisp menus, give the character when you select it some short animation that accentuates any cosmetics the player has purchased, a cool sounding sound effect to match, then give each class a badass looking idle animation that shows off the sword or shield or the pet or whatever. I’m sure you can come up with good ideas, you are the wizards. It won’t make all the difference in the world but I think it is important to have more satisfying opportunities for the player to see the cosmetics they’ve bought up close in detail.

Okay first I have to say. I buy all of the supporter packs because I want to support the development of the game. That said… I have never particularly liked the look of most of them. I think the problem is that they all suffer from the “Masters of the Universe” problem where everything is a bit too bulky and superdeformed. I think this is a side effect of the fact that the underlying character models for the classes are not exactly the best things in the world. Because they are sort of “duplo” characters to start… skinning anything over top of them is going to further inflate that existing problem.

The weapons are all hyper blinged out… and what I want are just really cool looking weapons, not shields with fidget spinners and shit on them. The armors are also super intricate and look like I am a walking candelabra most of the time. I just want brutal-looking armor and weapons that fit the themes of the builds that we are playing. I am a child of the 80s/90s and back in the day… it reminds me of the knock off toys that used to apply chrome to everything in an attempt to make it look cool, but it just made things look cheap. The bling… needs to take about 300 steps back and make some sets of armor that are grounded in the world.

Pets… I like, but you need to give them a function. Gold and Affix shard pickups, please. Right now they are just useless visual clutter.

Skill Effects. You’ve made a good step forward, but right now they are not significantly different enough in most cases to make them worth purchasing.

The PRICING is spot on, though. Your pricing is perfect for things. Like I said, I have bought every cosmetic pack just to support the game, but this is the time to be brutally honest with you, because the style of most of the cosmetics is just not that cool. If you raised the price from where you are now… I would probably stop buying them because I feel like I don’t enjoy them already.

I like your cosmetics, I bought a few packs but recently, I have to replace my cosmetics each time I log in.

I am a very simple and weird man.

I’ll buy pretty much anything that’s green. I’ve been holding playing off some skill/class/archetype just because of the color. Make a bunch of green wildfire MTX like in Game of Thrones and I’ll seriously play a fire character for the first time hahah.

But to provide a wider feedback, I think having a thematic spanning multiple skills of an archetype is really really great. The shattered ones are absolutely great, and so are the cosmic ones.

It’d be cool to always have a full armor set for a given thematic on top of the skills IMHO.

I’d personally like to see more nature-themed or necrotic-themed or poison-themed MTXs!

I just want more little creatures running around me, making cute sounds.
Aaaand:

  1. For variety, I’d like more effects for transformation skills. The poor lich in his specialization skill looks like a ghost from a graveyard.
  2. I don’t know how to draw or model, but I’m sure many people make their honest money doing this. If you give people the opportunity to express themselves creatively, you’ll attract more people to the project. Word may not spread immediately, but maybe this way you could find someone who could find a place in your company.
In any case, I want to see people’s work, and voting for the best work seems appropriate.
  3. Gems. There are no events in the game…for now, but if they are added in the future, receiving a gem as a reward that changes the color of cosmetics or cosmetic effects could also attract more people to the game.
  4. Skills. Yes, I also like the skill cosmetics.
  5. Oh, and what about toys?
    Maybe plushies?

This! I only use MTX to match skills and armor to a theme, especially color. For instance;

Voidbound Wandering Spirits and Amethyst Death Seal can match up, but there’s no other options for “purple skills” available to Acolyte.
Holy Multishot and Blood Shard Glacier look amazing, but there’s nothing that matches them available to Rogue and Mage, respectively.

The Shattered and Cosmic themes hit that mark way better and if you can combine them with an armor that has the same theme, now we’re talking.

  • Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?
I love portal cosmetics and have bought nearly every one. Seeing my portal come up after I clear an echo feels like a satisfying capstone to me, it’s highly noticeable, and is something I use often.

  • Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?
I’d like to see a woodsman theme, something with flowers around my feet or butterflies around my head. Some of my favorite cosmetics from POE have counters which amplify the cosmetic in certain ways: a kill counter for a blood soaked cloak which sprays more blood the higher your kill streak is, armor which glows more brightly red as your strength stat increases. Maybe we could have cloaks which grow bigger and brighter depending on how many echoes we cleared?
Please don’t include wacky random things like clown hair or mecha; running around in POE1 or WoW or multiple FPS games after years of cosmetic drift is so jarring. I also prefer fewer flashy particle effects to be on at any point in time.

  • Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?
I really want the Realm Hopper’s Portal, Gilded Pestilence Mask, and Frozen Fang Mask, but my optimization brain keeps telling me to wait for a sale. I log in every few days even if I don’t play, hoping to get them. Even if I want something specific from the store, I feel like I’m doing something wrong by buying it at full price because I think a better price will be available. I bet an economist would have something to say about this.
