Yes there are lot of thinks that LE does very similar or identical to alot of other games, but most of those fundamental systems are so simialr or identical, because they simple work excellent.
LE is probably the most innovative aRPG since a loooong time.
LE already does so many things in a unique way or gives a twist to certain otherwise very common mechanics.
You describe exaclty what LE currently does for me
So, I must have missed something, and I’m curious. For you, what is the novelty of LE?
I don’t think everything is very good and is working very well.
There is always novelty brought. But I sincerely think that in the world of ARPGs you have to be crazy to do something new or think against the grain, above all I think that no game takes the risk of trying something too new. Otherwise he will eat you up like never before. Will do this insulted and their game will not work.
So we try to innovate but we are clearly not going to really change an operation or system. We make minor changes at best, but that does not change the mechanism.
And for me that’s what LE does, yes its trying but the step is not high. As we were just talking about being the first ace trying to bring a bit of boss strategy, but hey it’s not dark souls either. 2 spell to dodge and just not roll your head over your keyboard like on diablo 3, it’s not the revolution of the year either. It’s good it’s a step, but clearly I call it a change.
(PS: Just two hours ago, I faced Lagoon, and frankly I just pissed off like a moron, the only thing I carefully avoided is the laser, and the roundabout area that is going to hit anyway. The waves, the pliers, the lights … Osef total you hit and you sustain like a pig.)
So I am not an ARPG specialist, but it is true for this point. This is the first time I see her, and I find her very good, the spell skill tree I find her good.
So that is also true I think. But just for me it does not bring much that lore, which may please some, but for my part does not change me much, a new card or one with known but with a new atmosphere, it remains a new one. menu. After if you like it I can understand it and respect it.
So, for me not really a novelty I would say, it’s a new way of doing what else we try differently, and once again I never really saw a real utility, with a build that plays on it . Can be builds with strong mana, like Erasing strike, or instead of hitting once you can hit twice even with little mana.
Now for me once again it doesn’t change the game, for me it’s not that kind of thing that will make me get up from my chair “Woow something new super cool”
Well, the above you know my opinion, nothing new under the sun, it’s exactly the same as diablo or POE sorry. It’s not changing mob or doing forge at the end of a random map that changes something. And for me the argument of the new timeline, it comes back to your point 2.
There is nothing to change on this point and this is for me the biggest criticism that the game (currently) is end game is a copy paste of what has been around for millions of years and which is horribly relieving, repetitive as possible. Me as long as it comes to doing the same thing over and over without something that makes a real difference is that you missed your thing.
Some games get to do something repetitive, something different every time. League of legend gets there by example each of your parties will be different, yet the objective is the same. But not your opponents. Sports games also happen, yet a football match remains a football match, but everything will turn out differently.
ARPGs have never been successful, because in diablo, POE, LE and others, a rift remains a rift, there is nothing that changes or not much. The map the enemies, but its remains the same. Hence the need to change, but its no ARPG will have the pair of … strong enough to do it.
On this point I agree, it is true. Now thank god at the same time, this is what makes ARPGs different now. But let’s face it anyway in LE it is true that there are spells quite different from what we are used to, retaining classic ones, the tourbilol is the best known example.
So we will say that overall I agree, it is true that LE is trying things. But as I said nothing revolutionary either. It is already good you will tell me, and it is true. Now I may be too much of a wait, I am waiting for a game that breaks the codes, changes these fucking rifts, which brings a real originality in the depth, not modify some existing mechanics.
But I think ARPG games are at a crossroads, as RPGs were in their days. All this reminds me of Final fantasy (classic games) At the time the turn based it was life, you touched his you were dead the community insulted you as not allowed. (like Rift in ARPG)
So all the fans love FF7, FF8, FF9 and FF10 very much which is marked by their time (so some are my favorites, I knew that time well) But everyone hated FFX2, only because he tried to bring a a tiny bit of novelty in a system that has had its time but needs to be changed (turn by turn) The worst was the 12th it is rotten as not allowed, yet it was a masterclass in change to move on to something more action. In the end, we yell as always, well he ended up getting used to it, and today it would be inconceivable to recast the action side, even if we remain nostalgic for the turn by turn, we had to change.
For me, ARPGs are the same, the fans don’t want to change anything but one day it will be worth it, this rift system cannot last, like anything else, the end game needs more consistency. But his you touch a sacrosanct of the ARPG, so the first one who will try his will get fucked for sure, but he will be right.
And maybe I was hoping that LE would be that game. After that it’s not lost, but that doesn’t seem the case to me, so yes the game brings some interesting change we can’t deny it. But above all it does not touch the font.
For me, it is unwise to type myself in rifts for 20,000 hours and find it fun. Its not. Why today I spend so much time on LE is only because there is great replayability and a lot of different things in buid to try, but one day I would have done the trick, and no I would not stay banging rifts like a con. But like everyone else why diablo there are people only at the start of the season. It’s for his, we come we test the “novelty” we do the rush and we break it. At pas, this system is not a solution for the future, any game wants to keep players on its game.
I would call the skill spec trees revolutionary.
Especially the part, where some skills can interact with otehr skills like proccing another skill and the procced skill does utilitze the skill spec tree too.
I am very certain the next patch will do alot to the MoF system.
Let’s see what EHG has in stroe for us, but i can feel that they have great plans for MoF and the rest of their endgame system.
Keep in mind we still have multiple other different endgame systems planned for the future.
Of course, as I said for the moment nothing is lost of course, the game is only in beta. After yes I heard about another system of end of parties, but at the moment we have no news?
I’m not asking for a date or anything, but an idea of what he plans to do?
for the moment we continue and we will see what he offers.
We already know one thing, that is 100% innovative and has never been done before (as far as i know).
The boss will have 30 different skills in total, but when you fight the boss he will use a randomly selected pool of thsoe 30 skills, which will make each fight unique.
Thanks, so I saw the first one announcing the boss, but not the second. And to be honest … It’s so cool. I really like. These skills (the one revealed) are quite different, some quite slow but in my opinion you do not want to stay in it. And other faster. It’s really cool, can’t wait to let me know lol.
And yes I have never seen such a wide range of skills, it’s interesting, precisely because it seeks to diversify what is repetitive.
This boss will remain the same but each fight should be very different, it’s a great concept.
What is also good in the concept is that it is scalable, nothing prevents adding new skills, temporarily withdrawing other, well put them back, just to play with players who think they know everything .
That’s a really good idea for the coming “Cycles” (similar to PoE’s Leagues and Diablo 3’s Seasons)
But we should probably not talk too much more about this in this thread here, because that’s off-topic. (At least it’s your threads, so i don’t feel as bad being fof-topic, because you are doing it with me :D)
Yes it’s true, afterwards, I think this son got these answers, so it’s not a big deal, his moves at least.
Yes indeed, one could imagine it being linked to the theme of the current season. With skills that would stick to this famous theme. Really the idea is excellent the possibilities are numerous with this kind of boss.
