Cosmetic Shop Beta | Coming in Rising Flames

To be fair, all of this was communicated before.

We knew that MTX shop will come before 1.0, so they could test it and gather feedback.
Localisations also coming with 1.0 and not before was communciated.

Also its not 2 calsses, but 3 masteries, that are currently missing and that was also communicated, that they will make it into the 1.0 patch.

Regarding the story, we have 9 of 12 chapters, not 3 acts.
Not all 12 chapters will be in with 1.0, that also was communicated but it seems like 091 will give us some more story (or at least new regions)

It’s easier to make uninformed bitterness filled comment then reading and gathering informations to make a constrictive criticism. Sadly we all fall for it once in while.

What the actual fuck did i just read.

Why would you move away from 1 to 10 ratio? You’ve had points valued at 1 to 10 ratio since Kickstarter…

The quality doesn’t seem all that great for the portal for example. It looks like you took existing asset and slapped portal onto it and now its 13 bucks?

What is this “bonus” shit? The system is designed to milk the 50 bucks even if you want to buy a rag because otherwise you “lose money” If you buy the 50 dollar pack then you get 63 usd worth of points.

Why stop at 50 USD? Give me that 100 usd bonus bonus bonus to make sure i don’t lose money with every purchase!

Seriously just go back to 1 to 10 ratio and get rid of any type of stupid ass bonus system

Any word on whether we can purchase more slots for online alts? 20 is not enough for me to maintain interest in the game, so please gives us some answers.

Really? I absolutely didn’t.

So… I bought a supporter pack for 100$ with the intention of playing the game offline and also purchasing mtx (quite a lot of them and for my visual enjoyment only, as I like the fashion portion in an arpg also), BUT since 0.9 mtx are not available for offline play (a decision I still hope you will reconsider and find solution for) not even pets from supporter pack - I feel kinda scammed already paying 65$ more for something that I have no access to. Fool me once…

And no, I will not play online ever - buggy mess that is online 0.9 only reafirmed my offline conviction.

And now this! Seriosly, 20$ for a portal?! FOMO?! Predatory tactics regarding currency?! It not worth repeating what 150+ post above say, except to cast my vote in agreement. Those are not the tactics EHG should use! I remember Mike saying on stream mtx will be priced 3-10 $ as we already purchased the game.

I want mtx to support you guys and will pay for some cool looking armour, but not like this!!! Make mtx available accout-wide (offline and online) and tone down tactics shown here and you can have my money for years to come. This post only made me want to uninstall the game and never come back, no matter how good it is.

To really be fair, not everybody has been with the game since the Kickstarter or wants to run an entire investigation about the game they are about to buy.

To be even fairer, where exactly did they communicate their cash shop would be built on a bull*hit currency, topping it off with a predatory pricing model? (Link please).

Cosmetic points have been around since the kickstarter.
I just hope they adjust the prices to more reasonable levels for a p2p title.

These are 2 entirely different points

It doesn’t require deep investigation, but if you buy into a EA title you should be expected to inform yourself what is still missing and what is coming/planned.
Otherwise don’t buy into these type of games.

That is very subjective and I totally agree that this is not well done (as I already made clear in my previous posts), but that was also not the statement from ByFbIR

They just throw out some things still “missing”, while the cosmetic shop is already being implemented, even though everything they mentioned was already communicated beforehand, numerous times.

Its ok to vocie your opinion, but just throwing out some half-correct statements doesn’t exactly help.

I’m honestly surprised with the way the MTX deals are set up…

Point 1:

When new supporter packs are launched, those packs will only be available during the current Cycle in which they were introduced.

I understand the need for seasonal (cyclical?) content, but with 4 packs and each containing roughly $43 worth of content (portal, back & pet = 465 + 120 extra coins) that’s … a lot. And it’s all FOMO now-or-never type stuff.

Ideally, these packs would cost far less ($20ish), and will afterwards come back as separate pieces, so that regular supporters get a nice boost (and incentive to play each season) while others still have the option to come back and get the MTX they want albeit at a higher price.
The fact that you have a FOMO-package each cycle is not something I look forward to as a supporter.

Point 2:

Epoch Points can be purchased through Steam, and are automatically loaded onto your account. They will be available in the following denominations:

9.49 USD for 120 points
18.99 USD for 265 points (240 + 25 bonus)
49.99 USD for 755 points (630 +125 bonus)

The fact the lowest coin pack is already 10 bucks is a big treshold, but on top of that, none of the prices in the shop match a multitude of the coins, which is very predatory.

As an example; to buy the 5 items shown in the preview, you need 890 EP, but the $69 (hehe) combo leaves me with 130 left, not enough for another pet, half over a cloak.
Why is there no $5 or even $1 option? (Or even per single EP, for … TenCent!) Bigger purchases give bonus, because it’s future support, and I’m all for that, but if people want selective pieces they shouldn’t be needing to pay 30-80% more, just because of the coin pricing system. That’s just insulting.

From the reactions in this thread already, I think the current pricing point is very far off from maintaining longtime supporters and it does feel like we’re treated as cashcows, not valued players/customers.

How much does the supporter pack cost?

I am surprised at the number of negative comments. :scream:

It is true that the quality of the MTX looks somewhat immature compared to rival game’s one that are already ahead, but I think it is a good entry point.

The money we have is finite, and unless players are an avid fan of the game, the investment is limited.

EHG is one of the places where gamers invest, and as long as EHG are the laggards, EHG will continue to be demanded originality or a surprising shock in a positive sense for gamers in order to beat the predecessors.

I can’t explain exactly what kind of MTX can achieve that originality or surprising.
But it seemed this reveal could not shock in a positive sence for many gamers, I feeled this.

Well… I am an avid fan of LE, and I want to use some points for new MTX!

My only comment here is as a (an unofficial) representative of the subset of players who have absolutely no interest whatsoever in MTX, cosmetics, or the like.

And that comment is: meh, not interested.

Reading through this toppic made me wondering - don’t you guys know what system you’re living in? Its capitalism.

Of course they will be manipulating you with all avalible methods out there to take every dollar possible. Because thats the only reason this game have been started in first place - to make money. As much as possible. With any means necessary. And i can tell you more - LE is not a game or piece of art in the first place - its a product. Product must be profitable.

They (Tencent in this case) will cash it out step by step, as they do with all other products. And it will work. And then move over to the next, letting this to decay.

And if you, for some reason, think that you know better than, for example, Tencent how to make most money from video games and willing to throw advices of how sshops, prices etc should be handled, well… you don’t.

Capitalism doesn’t mean we have to shut up and take it. The only things we have are our voices and our wallets, so we’re using them.

I for one am disgusting that they’d initial their currency after E. P*** feels like an insult to the buyer.

I don’t get this one. Do you mind explaining?

Living in a flawed system is not an excuse to not resist it, at least in an environment of free speech.

To the devs:

More generally, I was interested in LE and its development for some very interesting and creative game design decisions, but I will not participate in a business model that’s insulting to players’ intelligence. As I can also see in many other statements here, it’s about values - and I don’t mean the prices here.

I know from streams that many of the people working on the game have kids. Would you appreciate your own child playing a game with these shop practices?

As gamers-turned-developers, you probably even share these exact values. There may be unseen pressures and business risks and it’s easy for players to discount those. That said, there’s also a business risk in alienating a player base - and a more personal risk in ending up spending years of your life on working on something that goes against your own values. Acknowledging my privilege of not having my job tied to this, I say: Be more bold here to go in another direction!

I am so upset I could write a whole book.

Reduce prices.
Go back to a 1:10 rate.
Let players pay for exactly what they want.
Make cosmetics available for offline as well. The initial pets were available offline were they not? It’s absurd to lock offline players out of MTX. More on this later.
