Cosmetic Shop Beta | Coming in Rising Flames

Sales or not, people will have to choose between an old but complete game in sales (with the entire story, all new assets, hours of gameplay, etc…) and a simple cosmetic item.
Of course, people will make a choice between a complete product and some pixels when they will have to spend their money.
The price difference is too little between the two products for what they will provide to the player respectively.
The entire last epoch game is sold 35 bucks. A simple back attachment is almost 1/4 of the entire price game and a portal 1/3 of the entire game.
They didn’t need 1/3 or 1/4 of the work to make the complete game, why do they have the price?
Like for POE, something is wrong with the MTX prices. And if it work for POE with a gigantic player base, if only 1% of whales buy it, LE will need to have almost the same player base and the same amount of whales. If not , the entire plan will collapse.

Good start for the game to be in “rising flames” :upside_down_face:

Those are totaly common for games. They are in the worst spot for the player and in the best spot for the company so people are forced to buy more then tey want and never have a pack that is of good value. That’s industry standard and and a dirty one.

I was genuinely looking forward to the cash shop. Getting some cool skins, throwing a bit extra to support EHG since I’ve really enjoyed and been impressed with the game so far. I don’t even mind “FOMO” tactics or whatever, I get why folks don’t like it but personally it doesn’t bug me.

But this is a combination of some of the more aggressive pricing I’ve seen in a cash shop (especially for a B2P non-live-service game, unless this will soon be live-service and I missed it? But even then.) and the currency is priced/structured like this is the mid-2000’s and we’re dealing with XBL points. The industry moved beyond this kind of predatory pricing structure like a decade ago.

No hate, but this just ain’t it, you whiffed hard on this, dudes. I hope you’re taking the feedback seriously and ignoring the hate, because if we see some decent pricing and sensible $ → Currency structuring I’m more than happy to throw some more dosh at the game.

That’s my feedback, still looking forward to the rest of the reveals, outside of this they’ve been good so far!

This may be true for the mobile market, and it might be true for the super-popular PC games that I don’t play (popular shooters and MOBAs?). I literally play 0 games that have this kind of MTX. I used to play some mobile games with these, but I refuse to now. I won’t even play a mobile game that has IAPs above around 30USD (so basically 98% of f2p). It is not an acceptable practice and we should all be fighting for developers to keep this trash out of PC games (it’s much too late for mobile market).

Love the game! Love the overall direction. Excited for cosmetics just as much as the next person and I’ll throw money at this game. Having said that, I will never buy a portal for damn near $20! These prices need to be nerfed!

they have to make money after release somehow; what would you propose? keep in mind the alternatives in this industry / genre (tencent) are typically pay to win, expansions or subscriptions… maybe be constructive instead of just shi*t talking everyone without actually adding anything ^ - ^

again it is just par for the course, they aren’t gonna reinvent the wheel in every category. i do agree its unfortunate the industry has gone this way but honestly that’s the consumers fault for supporting it…

maybe just make like the rest of us who don’t care and don’t engage with it

Tencent has entered the chat ahhaha

This is extremely disappointing.

I would love to support you guys, but not like this. Not with such predatory practices.
You can do better.

I think you misread your target audience. Most LE players i know have a job and are 30+. We have seen scummy pricing time and time again.

We came to Last Epoch not only for the gameplay, but also because we figured you are good guys, passionate gamers developing game for ARPG lovers. You listen to the community and do not only try to milk us. LE …was?.. a save haven from an industry that only pursues to make money with little effort as possible.

Now, we understand you need to eat. That is why many of us demanded the shop before release. We want to support you. But we don’t want to be manipulated into doing so. We want to support you by buying things we feel are reasonably priced. We want to support you by buying cosmetics we like and not because we are scared into missing out.

Please reconsider.

Don’t worry, they’ve had “PR disasters” before.

Except they’d said that they were going to have an MTX shop well before Tencent came on to the scene so you can relax (about that aspect at least) and put the tin foil hat away.

Also, is mp a small/non-big feature?

So people could have bought higher tiers of the supporter packs but they were asking for an mtx shop instead? I’m not sure those goal posts were where you’re saying they were…

Except the mtx shop was already on the table before TenCent was.

I’m not going to argue about pricing or the “bonus” points you get in larger packs, but people need to realise that EHG were the ones who said they wanted an mtx shop to fund further development.

It was even in the kickstarter! Under the Cosmetics heading if anyone wants to go check.

That’s fair enough. And if you wanted to & were able to afford to support EHG you could by suppoter packs but not use the mtx shop.

Can you prove that you aren’t? rolls eye Or a chatbot for that matter…

For some it’s even a complete waste of time because they only care for themselfs and don’t give a shit about others ^^.

We know there was going to be a cash shop infact most people were for it, what everyone is complaining about is the known predatory sales tactic which is probably a core framework from a tencent marketing division packaged to suit LE which I believe EHG probably did hardly any work on themselves, either that or they have a gross financial planner employed to efficient suck every dollar from their player - which is worse? TBH blaming Tencent is actually deflecting slightly from EHG but if you want us to blame them directly sure. Personally I dont care either way they wont get nothing from me as they dont hold QOL hostage

Portal effects should be $1 or something, full MTX armor of 4 pieces - $5, its extremely disingenuous to state ‘pricewise’ this portal is worth 28% of the cost of our game (didnt do the math)

Considering the feedback above, raising the game’s base price would make these prices seem more proportionally appropriate.

Ok. Fine. Serious version - please consider above feedback, but also:

  • I think the goal to provide cosmetic-only mtx to fund updates is excellent
  • Hopefully you can find a pricing model which works and generates least resistance
  • Have you considered a subscription model for online?

Alternatively, I’m personally ok with expansion-based releases with years between updates if EHG can afford it (though i appreciate that is unlikely without personnel cuts, removal of some online features, etc etc)

Don’t get too downtrodden by the angry folks. Just keep making a great game

Not another rabbit hole of currency conversions. I really hoped EHG would do better than these scummy, “lol ur 20points short better buy that 150 pack”, BS fake currencies we see in poe, blizzard games etc etc etc :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Why not have an US/EU price tag? I’m definitely not buying into this nonsense, no matter what cool stuff you add to the store.

Close to PoE prices in a paid game is a big no for me.
I was willing, even eager to buy cosmetics. But if they are going at this rate, I think not.
I’ve poured more money into PoE than I should, not looking to repeat it once more.

I would’ve happily supported EHG through the in-game cosmetics store if it was implemented right. This isn’t it. Using FOMO & predatory conversion tactics is an instant middle finger to those of us who want to support your game & to see it grow.

Do better, EHG.

Look, we all know you’re unlikely to sell MTX for less than $4 or $5, so pick one, and sell points so that 1 point costs one of those amounts. Then sell your MTX for 1-5 points. It’s clear, honest, up-front, and most importantly, non-scummy. You can still sell packs of 5, 10, 20, whatever points, and we can look at those packs and see clearly “Hmm, if I buy that pack I can spend it completely on those MTX and not have any left over”

Pretty sure most players would be happy with that, and if you get your pricing wrong you can easily adjust the entire lot by changing how much 1 point costs.

We only have English localization, servers lag during party play with numerous errors, 2 classes haven’t been released, only 3 acts have been released… we’re launching a cosmetic shop.
