Your Cosmetic Feedback Could Shape What’s Next in Last Epoch

I bought a few of the cosmetic packs, and quite a few of the sold separately pieces, but at a certain point you already have what you need for most “player fantasies”. This is what happens to me in PoE as well, but what I will always continue to buy are SKILL expression. Give me a huge variety of skill effects (even for the same skill), different colors, effect, shaders etc. Portals works well too. This is my go to in all games that support it. If I decide to play a “new” build / skill, I will 9/10 times buy a cosmetic upgrade for it.

When it comes to feedback on the actual gear sets, there is something that feels a little off. I cannot put my finger on it, but it feels slightly childish, or not as cool as it could be? Maybe? This is ofc hugely subjective, but there is rarely a time I feel “I MUST HAVE THIS”, when I see the cosmetic reveals. I buy the packs to support your guys development more than for myself. I would like to see much darker themes.

Just my thoughts, but I will keep buying them as long as you continue to develop great content I want to play. Deal?

I have purchased all the supporter packs that have been listed. And maybe a couple weapons. We need more of a selection. Also, how about making some of the skins more color coded. So for a lightning mage have the skin all bright with lightning. If using blood skills how about skins that are blood red and dripping blood. If using poison how about green skins and fumes of green smoke emanating from your character. You could also do the same with your pets. have them compliment what you are wearing. More color coded weapon skins and skill skins. There is plenty of things you can do to make the skins more flashy. We want to stick out among the other players so blood dripping from a blood build would look cool. Or molten lava dripping down from a build that uses something like that would be cool and use that with a lava colored skin. More options and colors and add brightness to the colors unless you are using a dreary build of some sort. Thanks

You’re right! Now that you mention the helmets, it rings a bell. I noticed that too and had meant to include it in my post.

I dont give a s#&t about mtx but I will gladly pay for balance pass and fixing bugs in da game

Hello hello! For myself, I personally find that armor set bundles tend to be the best value where available. These and weapon effects/skins tend to be the things I’m most interested in. Generally speaking, I prefer more natural-looking sets like leathers, cloaks, robes, etc. It’s especially cool when these can be mixed and matched.

I prefer supporter packs and bundles that allow me to stretch funds. I enjoy skill mtx the most since I can change the feel/look of a build, but it’s not always a clear purchase since it’s restricted to a character or build even, so it feels like poor value. Portals and pets are nice since I can rotate through them on any characters. Armour sets feel expensive and don’t always mix and match well OR fit the theme of a build.

I like wildcard options for portals, skills, pets, etc so that I can use all of my mtx without changing it manually.

I don’t like recolors that you need to purchase over and over, and would rather paint options.

Hello!
I really like cyborg/robotic/exosuit style cosmetics in almost all games.
And I like full sets of cosmetics with animations etc. with a discount (like bundles)
And I think that new animation for skills is kinda overpriced now.

The supporter packs right now offer the best value as they include a good grouping of things, and importantly, at least SOMETHING inside of them looks cool. I cannot stress that part enough that a big problem with the cosmetics is that there just aren’t enough. Let’s take skills as an example, I was looking through my Lich and Druid the other day as I have in game currency that I am actively trying to spend. But most of the skills have a single option, and many don’t even have that. That means you have 1 chance with your offering to get me to spend money. I’d like druid animal companion change, the polar bear is kid of cool, but I don’t play bear. The Sabertooth looks really meh, not a fan of the thematic. I’d love some kind of void themed Sabertooth, or maybe different types of tiger / cat skins ranging from an all black panther type to basic stripes to leopard print etc. Each person buying is different, they’re going to play different builds, and they’re going to have different preferences that WOULD trigger them to buy, with the cosmetic shop you need to have those options available or it doesn’t matter in the first place. I’m in a similar way with my Necromancer, Lich, and Sorc. I’d love a different meteor, but my options are turn it into a bee meme or a weird 8-bit looking shatter thing. The cosmetic options are priced well, and the rotating sales are nice, but they don’t DO anything.

  • Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?
The packs are the best because normally there’s at least SOMETHING in there, and with the included in game money I can hope that eventually something else cool shows up and I can grab it. Mostly in the supporter packs I’ve liked the pets and the armors, maybe a portal or two.

  • Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?
Really I think initially your focus should be to shotgun out as many as you possibly can so that we have a wide range of offerings. Maybe shotgunning is too little… maybe a carpet bomb of assets. Go nuts. I’d say your general rule at this point should be “If it doesn’t have 4 to 5 options then we need someone actively working to pop a few out as quickly as possible,” In that vein there are no bad ideas, anything that someone thinks up for that slot is a go. It obviously needs to meet graphical quality standards to be released, but the idea itself is fine. You can get picky when you have 5+ offerings in that slot already.

Also if a slot on the cosmetic tree has 0 offerings, and has had 0 offerings since launch and we’re already 3 seasons in heading into the 4th… Why is that there? I understand future proofing something. But either do it behind the scenes with the code ready to insert into a different graphic when the time comes, or actually put something into that slot. When I see “Coming soon” I think “Cool let’s see what’s there next season”. If it’s still empty next season I think "Lol, they’re really behind, funny that they still haven’t done anything. 2 seasons still nothing “What are they doing?”, and if it goes 3 or 4 “They must be having troubles with the company because they don’t follow through”.

  • Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?
Looks. The style just wasn’t something that appealed to me. Monetarily I love the price point. I would love to support you more, but it has to be for something that I think looks good or I would bother using in game.

Personally I prefer the complete packs that you put out some time ago, I would like more skill skins (some are completely missing) but above all I would like to have many more wing-shaped skins for the capes

Themes, styles, or item types we need more of:
I’m one of those who buys every legendary supporter pack when they come out, just to support the game. But in general, LE needs more classic looking armor sets because I find that the MTX are far too elaborate, confusing to the eye, and too flashy. I would love for EHG to look at each mastery and try to come up with at least one classic, timeless look for each mastery and release an armor MTX bundle for that. The (free) armor in the game sets pretty good examples, but since transmog isn’t available yet we can’t really rely on those looks. I find the MTX armors look like they are trying really hard to look expensive, and unique. Which isn’t bad, but the armor sets don’t have any gravitas because they don’t personify the classic RPG aesthetics.

The items that offer the best value are the supporter packs, by sheer volume of what’s included. But frankly, standalone armor set bundles would be just as valuable if they were great looking, grounded in their roots, thematic, RPG armor sets.

I avoid purchasing skill MTX for classes or skills that I don’t use frequently.

In summary, less over-the-top, extravagant, flashy armor sets, in favor of more grounded, classic looking, thematic armors. And more weapons & skills MTX overall, just keep adding weapon and skill skins and don’t stop.

You can equip two now.

Please whatever you do, no more goovy, cartoonish or out-of-theme MTX, such as the shark-head.
For me personally I like the more gritty, bulky, mean-looking sets with spikes and blood over the shiny, slender and delicate designs. Minus slimy gross stuff like appendages and eyes. There are a few good items MTX in the shop, but it’s hard to mix and match and the full sets lean towards the flashy filigree style.
A completely different idea for MTX would be themes for UI and menus.

So im a long time player of Poe you have to have cosmetics that appeal to people such as wings / back attachments that dont look to stupid, visual effects such as glowing weapon / shield effects, character armor cosmetics that look good and make people want to buy them, you cant just sit here and throw random cosmetics in a game expecting people to want to buy them they have to be appealing, a good example of what im saying theres a character cosmetic in poe that makes the character look like its floating slightly off the ground giving the feeling of having your character flying around players love this kind of stuff, also another example of weapon cosmetics you should take a look at the paladin supporter pack on poe weapon effects like those are very appealing. theres alot of stuff you could do with cosmetics but again make them look bad ass appealing, ever since i found out about last epoch ive been in your corner and really hope this game improves to the point of being alot like poe but not poe if that makes sense, yall are doing great!

I absolutely love this game, and I was ‘just’ saying the other day…this game needs to work on it’s store. When I play a certain class (i.e… Mage) I want my awesome, high corruption character to also look the part. If there were class specific skins…I would absolutely buy the skin. I have a lich atm and the only skin that really reflects a lich in the slightest and this is a stretch, is the wizards hat. All armor sets look to be more paladin/sentinel based. I feel the weapon skins leave much to be desired. A redesign with more animation and color and I would definitely consider purchasing. Most of the class spell effects to me do not look cool enough for me to purchase. On a good note, I do love a lot of the portals, I think LE has done a great job on the design/artwork!!

I don’t like any of the weapon/shield skins currently available, they all look oversized and bulky for the sake of being bulky. I much prefer a more realistic look to my weapons.

It would also be cool if skins weren’t locked to a certain weapon type, though I understand this may be limited due to animations.

{ Character, Minion } Skin

Divinity Original Sin 2: Skeleton Skin

Starcraft 2: Skins for every unit:

Franchise

You could also partner with big franchises to sell popular skins:

  • Game of Thrones (Night King, Arya, Jon Snow)
  • Lord of the Rings (Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf)
  • Berserk (Diablo 4 did that)
  • Claymore
  • The Witcher
  • Blade
  • Spartacus
  • Gladiator
  • Terminator
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 (Laezel, Karlach, Astarion)
  • Mortal Kombat (Scorpion, Sub Zero)
  • Elden Ring
  • Dark Souls
  • Diablo (Iconic items / Sets, Cross ARPG Rifts)
  • Path of Exile 1 & 2
  • Frieren
  • Sword Art Online
  • Dragon Ball Z (Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, Tenshin Han, Trunks, C18, Cell, Buu, Broly, Super Super Saiyan Aura)
  • Naruto
  • One Piece
  • One Punch Man

Simply put I do not find many of the cosmetics visually attractive. Other’s have suggested … cartoony. Now, I can’t even draw a straight line but with other games (not just AARPG) I wish I had money to burn on cosmetics. I remember when the sci-fi mmorpg “Defiance” had the American flag “Iron Man” suit. Or more recently with D4 a serpent themed set. Maybe adopt D4’s character cosmetic screen as that’s really the only place the players will be able to see their cosmetics “up close”?

The backpack you gave to the community prior to launch, the one with Mike in a bee costume, the hanging mug … that was/is so detailed. It’s a shame, now that I’ve mentioned it, the only place I can see it up close is at the character selection screen.

As far as which cosmetics … I’ll use anything. From gloves to quivers to pets and skins that change skill optics.

The other suggestion would/is … it’s alot easier for me to justify dropping $10 dollars this paycheck then another paycheck. Upgrading my way through the season packages. Use to do that with another AARPG.

  • Which items do you feel offer the best value or appeal, and why?

I personally prefer armor cosmetics, because they’re universal. Spell cosmetic is a specific thing - what a chance you will use exactly that spell? While armor cosmetics fits every class all the time. Weapon cosmetics are something in between.

However I like D4 themed weapon sets. You get whole bunch of skins, at least one of them will be used.

  • Are there specific themes, styles, or item types you’d like to see more of? Less of?

I don’t want to sound harsh but most of Last Epoch skins look generic. In game items: generic furs and horns for druid, generic knight armor for sentinel, etc. Only some sorcerer’s items look fresh.

And paid skins follow that line. Too generic. Not everything, but most of it.

I personally like how D4 os doing: no clowns, no Simpsons, keep it medieval but with some imagination in mind. Medieval clothes and armor can be diabolical and unique. Fangs of rare creature or excessive amount of gold or armor is just made to scare enemies - every skin has its story. But they’re making so many skins, so they’re on very thin ice, one step from clow skins.

GGG I think stepped over that thin ice - they don’t care about skins looking at least like something in a bit really wearable, but still no Simpsons.

I think ARPGs is about becoming great and powerful. From hitting enemies with stick to raising hellfire. And clothes must support that transformation. I want to be powerful and to look powerful (still don’t want to become some sort of Godzilla, just want to look like human that is above of rest humans).

You have so rich world: many regions, many historic eras. Why no use it as inspiration? You have Naga goddess - make naga priest clothes covered with snakes. You have rebel Phoenix god - make red/coal/ obsidian themed armor. Shapeless armor of melted obsidian, or pitch black burnt armor with red sparks.

I liked both nemesis and silk seasons themes. They look unique. I would love to get more cosmetics with those styles.

  • Are there any items you’ve avoided purchasing, and what influenced that decision?

I purchased nemesis and silk skins (max tier packs). Avoided base packs, because they’re too expensive for how they look. Season packs feel fairly priced, but I’m ready to pay more if they will look more appealing. Dinosaur season pack I skipped, sorry too generic.

I need to mention that Grinding Gear Games took a long way before they were able to create something appealing. For me all skins they made in early years were ugly. But now they’re doing great!

Also I need to mention that D4 skins were good right from start and now they are getting better and better.

Granular MTX

Ideally skins should cost no more than $1 to $5 and be as granular as possible.

Packs are ok if they allow a user to save $ on many granular items, but the granular items should be available to purchase individually as well

Thanks for asking, EHG.

My main interest lies in armor set cosmetics. Though I quite like the Argentum Myrmidon armor set I have for my Paladin, in general I prefer armor sets that are not too flashy and colorful : I prefer simpler designs like the Arcane Duelist set, or sets that give a darker tone to the character. I find the Carrion Herald set very good in that matter.
