Who does LP3 and 4 items hurt the most?

It would hurt players, who lose interest in the character once it’s completely geared up.

No, I’m just saying that getting BiS items is for the hardcore players that play 10h a day. Not for casuals that play 10h a week. That has nothing to do with having fun. I don’t have a single BiS item, or even close to it, and I have a lot of fun in LE, despite barely having time to play (I’ve played about 5h in the last 2 weeks).

Same answer as above.

And you can have fun. There are lots and lots of gear upgrades you can get before needing BiS. You don’t need to have perfect gear to have fun.

Man, I’m not mad at you or anything like that. I just disagree. But, farming endlessly in the same corruption, making the same thing over and over is not fun at all. Also I don’t think that rising the drop rate of 3 and 4 LP for like 50% or maybe 100% would ruin the fun for everyone. I have like 200 hours in the game and have only 1 4LP (Firestarter Torch, the highest drop rate 4 LP), also only got like 3 or 4 3LP.

Honesttly, that’s more than me. I don’t think I even have a single 3LP unique in 300h. Then again, I tend to not delve too deep into corruption and just keep making new characters, so that’s expected.

I’m sure the devs are looking at all the data from CoF/MG and will balance it overall. I don’t know if it will please the players (a lot will still complain no matter what) but I do expect adjustments to be made. It’s just that a system like MG or CoF can only ever be really balanced after having data from hundreds of thousands of players. It’s not somthing you can simulate effectively even if you had a thousand testers.

And yeah, it’s fine to disagree with it. I mean, different players want different things. I think that a player that spends 10h a day every day should get a reasonable chance to get a couple ultimate BiS gear. And I’m sure they do with MG. Probably not with CoF.
But I also believe that a player like me that just spends a few hours a week should only be able to get one every few years, if lucky. It’s just the way the game is.

If you make ultimate BiS gear achievable to casual players, it will make it easy to get for the hardcore players and they will leave. Which means you’re left with D3 again. I’m not against adjusting drop rates and I’m pretty sure they will keep getting tweaked, I just think casual players should very very very very very rarely ever get that absolute BiS gear.

Naw men, don’t give me that I don’t have time so the game should give me everything instant arguement. I have a full time job, a wife and a 3y old son. I played PoE for the past decade and before that d2 for over a decade. If I only have 10 15 20hours a week to play I still rather play a game that gives me a journey and a challange and not a game where I get everything in a couple of hours/days.

There are also no builds that “come online” only with lp3 4 items xD I made a ruenmaster frostclaw build the last couple days which is probably one of the unique/lp heavier builds out there work with some stuff I already had and 10mil. Lvl 95 rn and can push 1k corruption. He does not have anything over lp2 and the most important items on lp1, head even lp0 still works fine. Got a Lvl100 necro pushed on 1,1k corruption so far with no problems 2 lp2 uniques and one lp1. You don’t need lp3/4 items to make builds work and push far… I could make 3 or 4 more builds that would work and could push high corruption with stuff I already found and some bazaar shoping if I had the time for it.

I would actually tell you maybe d3/d4 is more your game but you said you don’t like d3/d4 because it has no depth. Well… that is funny

For you only exists black and white, I guess. There is no middle ground. But thats on you. I really do not want to spend my whole year to farm something I want, and I’m not saying to make 3 or 4 LP have 50% chance to drop, I’m saying to make them appear a little bit more. If u have time to spend grinding, well I don’t. And about Diablo 3 or 4, the game system is indeed shallow. I really like PoE and LE systems more. I just don’t get it why the drop rate is so low for certain items. If u want to attack me, again, thats on you, but I’m not buying this fight.

For me only black and white exists? Coming from the guy who tells me he needs lp3/4 items to make builds work. Also how tf did I attack you? You replied to me first

If you don’t understand why the best items in a loothunt game are rare and why this is good for the game I can’t really help you.

But it seems like you have some other problems I wish you good luck with. Enjoy your day

2LP Shackles are for 100M now in Cycle.

True. And besides the RMT, there are other reasons.

One, boss rares are just too rare. While regular LP3 uniques are being given away for free, buying 3 LP Shackles or Heart is impossible (2LP are already beyond what’s accessible to most players). Prices are inflated but they still do reflect rarity, If supply was reasonable, sellers would have to compete even at the higher end. While demand is insane but supply minimal, you can ask whatever price because you know there’s no one to undercut you.

Two, game is badly balanced. There is no ceiling for item rarity. 50% players play two builds because they are broken and can reach 5 times the corruption as an average build. If you choose not to play them, you’re screwed economically. That raises demand for items for those classes, while some other items are free. Similarly, Ward is broken so uniques that give it are inflated because of the crazy demand. Lack of game balance is reflected in economy as well.

Three, itemization is poor. I remember in Grim Dawn there was so called Alkamos ringset with less than 0.5% chance for both iirc. It was BiS on many builds but there were alternatives. You could wear Ice and Fire if you needed OA, the blue rings with pierce to cold if you needed that or a number of other choices that did similar things but maybe a little worse or a little differently. But in LE? What is an alternative to Heart or Shackles? I’m a new player. When I hear that the game was in open beta for years and then look at the item variety, I’m like, really? You took years to design these 2 dozen items? Most of which are garbage nobody every touches?

I don’t believe anyone really is expected to get an LP4 item after looking at the mathematical statistics. I believe it’s just the Devs version of a carrot on a stick. It sparks the “hope” that you “might” be the one and thus keep looking.

But I “know” I will get them if I farm 100 mil gold. From some of the posts I’ve read about drop rates, I might actually get them before some CoF SSF player would even at that obnoxious price. I see it as something to work towards rather than something I hope drops.

A side effect I actually enjoy about MG is that gold is everywhere. I don’t have to target farm it, I can just do whatever I want and get it. Help alt friends with the campaign, bounce around rifts, arenas, etc. I’ve been enjoying it. I’m not rank 8 MG yet, but getting there slowly.

Have you seen the itemization in d4? Rumor has it a multi billion dollar company worked 10years on that game/itemization and it is way worse compared to what a couple reddit dudes came up with in the past 5years. I think they are doing ok…

No, he isn’t saying that at all, and that’s an absolutely ridiculous strawman. You don’t get to expect the best items in a random loot game if you don’t play very much. That’s just fundamentally how it works, because it’s a slot machine. If you can’t play a lot and therefore roll the dice a lot, you don’t get to expect to get the best loot in the entire game. If you can’t handle that, don’t play games with random loot systems. If you want to be rewarded for skill instead of grinding, you’re playing the wrong genre.

D4 may be the biggest disappointment I’ve played in 20 years. I really didn’t know what to say at the end. We only played for a couple weeks and just threw up our hands. My best friend summed it up with the phrase “this seems like what happens when a game is designed by committee.” You can’t have a Diablo game, WITHOUT Diablo in it… that’s game dev malpractice… my blood pressures rising, time to stop :).

I will stick my neck out and state this is because most players do not know how to farm boss drops properly. They think killing the boss as often as possible at x corruption is enough.

It cannot possibly sell for that I assume? Unless you RMT gold. I played this game for 3000 hours prior to 1.0 release and I had 138 million total (and 60+ stash tabs) to show for that. Never once spent money in Lightless Arbour either.

As it should be? The concept that people think they should running about with 3LP Hearts is just obscene, ludicrous and unrealistic. About 0.001% of the total players on the planet should have that. Players need to manage their expectations.

A Heart or Shackles with less LP than you’d ideally like. These are extremely powerful items. If your build can exploit them, it’ll still be good at 0LP. The entitlement that has grown since 1.0 (and thus since Merchant Guild I suspect) that we all need - and should have - 3LP versions of the top items in the game is just silly.

I played 3000 hours pre-1.0. I saw ONE 4LP drop in that time. It was Ucenui’s Sphere. Let that sink in. And Sphere is a common unique drop, albeit a powerful one. I think I’ve seen about a dozen 3LP uniques drop in the same time period.

Holy smokes, that cracked me up. I’m sorry sir.

I played less than 200h in EA and had 5M. But there were cases reported here, before 1.0, of players that reached max gold (4B and change) and it rolled over to 0, so it shouldn’t be too hard to farm that much gold, especially now that you can sell items for said gold.

Well, I kinda deserved this one. I chose two of the strongest items in the game. Heart is stacked even at 0LP. It’s always BiS. It got everything. But Shackles at 0 LP are severely lacking. You kinda need those glove affixes.

I have a lot more in offline. Much better gear as well. I played offline a lot pre 0.9.x

Well Gloves are only chase (I assume) because of the silly amount of Ward retention they can give. I see builds all over the place using them as BiS just for that, and not needing a single one of the other stats. They also allow masteries that have no business stacking ward to stack ward. Ba-roken! That is a design flaw by the devs. Making an item so chase for almost all builds due to one super powerful stat on it is troublesome.

These gloves - at least the Ward retention part - should be nerfed asap as they will skew the game forever if left as is. Switch it to capped Cold Resist, imo. Or make it per 3% uncapped similar to Barbute.

Example of how they skew the game… I often buy 5% increased Health Lagonian idols with good resists. I’m sure we all do. Since I am feeding 21 Alts, I need a lot of these. Guess which type is much more expensive and less available than all the others? Yup, Cold Resist.

13M in legacy

Exactly, I did the same, played it for about 2 weeks and uninstalled. Did not even bother to check seasons. The game is such a gigantic failure it is hard to put it into words.

I saw a clip of a former (old) blizzard developer a couple years ago who said something like “You have to forget about blizzard, there is nobody working at blizzard anymore who had anything to do with creating the diablo/starcraft/warcraft universe. There will never be the old blizzard again and you just have to let it go.” As sad as it was, he was so right, the last decade blizzard is just a big clownfiesta/cashcow…
