Warlock Reveal Circumstances

I feel people are too focused with the content creator while EHG is getting little to any critique with how they’re handling this last stretch before release. At the end of the day this outcome is on the company itself.

Fair, what do you think could/should have been done differently or better?

I don’t blame EHG for wanting to put the reveals in different places and posted by different creators. I just think they needed to regulate how that content was delivered a little better but also give us a more official post here on the forums on on the main site alongside the drop.

I would say using more content creators and a relevant website (icy veins is probably not the first choice for any current arpg player) for the demographic would have helped a lot getting this release to interest even more people beside the current player base, besides some more announcements about the preview from official channels. Like you can tell from my post, my grip with all this is the lack of exposure the preview and overall the game is getting.

The Ziz video mentioned above has more than double the views Aaron is likely to get for all of Warlock Week combined. So yeah…

Luckily Falconer is in better hands.
Even if I didn’t already have faith in Maxroll, they are well aware of this failure.

I’m not critiquing EHG because on the list of things I don’t like about how the Warlock reveal has been handled, the ones that fall onto EHG are way, way, way, way, way at the bottom.

But for the record, I do disagree with their idea that they’re not in a position to exert more control over how content is delivered by content creators, and I think it was a poor choice to let an amateur do this instead of someone more professional and established. But those are nitpick territory, IMO, so I don’t think it makes sense to talk much about them.

Indeed, I’d be very surprised if the terms of the agreement couldn’t be arranged such that EHG had “editorial control” over the content. Though that would change the price, how happy the content creator was to do it, etc. Any thing is possible, it just depends how flexible both parties are on price, control, etc as to whether they can come to a mutually acceptable agreement.

“Hey, we’ll let you preview and play around with this content so long as you agree to present it to the public in X, Y and Z ways. If you don’t want this privilege, we will find another creator for the job.”

“But Livid, how do you, as the company, enforce that once the creator has it in their hands?”

Well, imaginary Billy, contracts work great for this purpose. But also an agreement of not working with that creator in the future I imagine is enough incentive to do good by the company giving you a way to market yourself alongside their product. Also, money talks.

As does, if the shit really hits the fan & there’s no way to resolve things like sensible adults, the nuclear option of going legal. Though that also has it’s potential issues (like the optics of a company sueing a person for breach of contract).

I think it’s worth noting also, that much to AaronRPG’s credit, he did re-evaluate how he was going to showcase the information and did release a lot more info over the last couple days that we otherwise would have been waiting for. I am happy to see he took the feedback to heart and gave us a much more substantial release of information.

For EHG that would be a pure lose-lose situation.
Better to just throw in a few guidelines into any sort of future agreement made.

They just have to see this a learning opportunity.

Yeah, I’d imagine that in that scenario, the putative creator that fucked up just gets black listed & potentially even bad mouthed to the legally permissable limit (ie, stopping just short of defamation). But it depends how pissed off you are really.

Nothing Aaron did in this case would warrant even that.
At least not to me.

If what @LividLegends says is true, he is also learning from it.
It’s one of those unfortunates that ended bad for everyone, regardless of intentions.

Here’s a link to his post on Reddit detailing how he was going about it now; https://www.reddit.com/r/LastEpoch/comments/19fhhm5/warlock_week/

Ah, thank you.
Reddit is a cesspool I am reluctant to take a swim in.

I am not surprised it had to be locked.
I may not have liked his content and will express myself accordingly, but I certainly don’t think Aaron deserves all that. I don’t hate the guy or wish him any harm.
I’ll just do the sensible thing and not watch something I don’t want to.

I’ll get to see for myself in less than a month after all.

The changes he did to the whole Warlock Reveal Week didn’t address any of the major criticism a lot of people (including me) had.

This is a worthless try of appeasing people.

It still has the issue that it isn’t a complete drop of all of the information, I agree. But I can recognize and appreciate that he is speeding up the process of the release for us.

I am still very much of the mind that this drop was done very unsavory-like but there isn’t much they can do to fix it now that it’s happened.

In the future I still hope EHG uses this as a way to learn how we as a community like our information given to us. The answer; not drip fed.

Nawh, he didn’t deserve the level of flak he got. I didn’t love the drop, and I still don’t like that it feels like he was using it as a way to jump start his platform, rather than deliver to us the info we were promised in a timely manner, but the level of “criticism” he got is a little appalling.

Unless they do it themselves. Apparently.

Oof.
To be fair to EHG, in each of those posts they showcase quite a bit of content, and all relevant information for the topic each post is about.
Warlock is it’s own contained subject and should have been given to us in a similar way that these posts were.

But alas, you got me. Lol.
