If you bought the game the marketing isn’t aimed at you.
So why should i be locked behind 1 guy deciding to keep informations for days for his own profit ? What’s the heck ?
Folks getting way too personal in here for a topic like this. Aaron loves this game. Personal attacks against him are completely unnecessary. Could things have been handled better? Probably. Do we know all the limitations on him? Not a chance. Will EHG hopefully re-evaluate? I would hope so. Do we really need content creator wars? Not a big enough face palm for that. It’s fine to give a critique on what he did if you can manage to keep it constructive. But some of this detritus…assigning a motive without asking or knowing him is something high school students do sitting around a lunch room table and laughing at the ‘weird’ kids at another table.
Free speech is free and good because it also comes with an inherent component to exercise it responsibly.
I don’t know, but I agree with you (even though you’re French! ).
They always have in the past when there’s been pushback from the community.
Which is sadly often ignored.
I call a cat a cat, I see someone abusing a situation for personnal profit I call him selfish. In the real free speech world we call it “Argumentum ad hominem”
“To know who is really ruling you, just look at those you can’t criticize” → Voltaire
He isn’t ruling me so i criticize him.
Oh, this is rich. Selfish? Is that in your professional healthcare worker opinion? Explain how it was selfish? Requesting that official game information be released on official game channels. Point out all the places I stand to gain, personally, from such a request.
Go ahead, I’ll wait. But first, let me get some popcorn, since I’m sure it will be entertaining, to say the least…
To be fair, I’m not sure that’s what Voltaire meant, nor how he intended for his statement to be used.
kindergarten feelings
Save your popcorn for someone else, cause as I said to Llama, im aint going this road.
You are still in the selfish territory. More like demanding than anything.
The information will be everywhere, its only a matter of time. And a matter of being supportive to the people running the game and their decisions.
to quote the devs:
"When we were approached about doing reveals, Icey/Aaron were one of the groups that approached us. We were thrilled that they were interested in covering the reveal of the Warlock.
However, we aren’t huge fans of telling communities/creators how they need to do things.
We realize that this has/is causing some headaches. However, we also want it to be clear that we didn’t demand/restrict these teams from preparing the content in the way they wanted. Each group will take the approach that they want the best, and we understand that.
If later down the road, we all learn that this wasn’t the greatest approach, you live and you learn. Sometimes, not everything is perfect. However, we have always been incredibly appreciative of our community’s work. We are a small team, and creating content takes a ton of time and effort that we just don’t have the manpower for. So we aren’t about to belittle the efforts of others."
But, that’s the point… it shouldn’t be “a matter of time”. Information about the game, should be available where one goes to get information about the game – Ie, the game’s official website. A customer shouldn’t be required to visit Icy Veins, Maxroll, WoWHead, MMOChampion, BasementDwellerGamingdotCom, Twitch, Youtube, etc to gain basic information about the game. If I want additional information, cataloged information or opinion on a game, then I am free to search outside/3rd party resources.
Warlock still isn’t mentioned on the main site. Outside of the paragraph at the bottom of the Trade Faction reveal, this reveal isn’t mentioned, anywhere, on the official game web site. This is not how information about the game should be handled… especially when it’s this close to go-live, and everyone is anxiously awaiting information on what will be available on Day 1.
I’m sorry that comes off as selfish to you. But, this isn’t the first time that the community has had an issue with the choice of outlet for official game information.
You are right for sure. But he was simping that influencer as it was his boss that was i used this sentence
The only part of this that was a “marketing plan” was giving Aaron the chance to be the one who reveals Warlock details. EHG did not direct or put any constraints on how that was done.
Being critical of Aaron for how Aaron chose to deliver that information has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not anyone wants LE to be a success.
I remember Travoas great topic about hot news not being properly addresed around the forum. And I was all in about that request.
But I see things differently concerning this one time. I think its a genuine attempt to achieve different audience, expand the game comunity, maybe make the game bigger. And I have no problems if that involves putting the older audience aside for a moment. We can survive that, I think we should be more forgiving, but given the strong reactions from lot of people, if its not the right path, I am certain devs will learn very important lessons with all this.
the problem is we have multiple behaviors around this, lot of hostility from both sides and sometimes hostility misdirected to EHG.
thats totally fine, but the things I have seen (more in the reddit posts) are not that civil.
The sentence is more that overall the community could be sabotaging the game with all this fuss instead of “just giving proper feedback”.
The one thing I’d do if I was Aaron is remove the request for a youtube or patreon sub at the end of the Warlock videos. Just get rid of that criticism.
The irony of this is so deep.
No one’s saying you can’t criticize someone. In fact, in the very post of mine you are commenting on I said:
Critique is constructive. Ad hominem nonsense is not critique. But, one of the other great components of free speech, is I don’t have to be compelled to listen. Best!
I agree that I have no problem with a reveal being done in the fashion it was, just wish it had been more about revealing the Warlock than it was. I’m glad they first put it on the official forum first to let people know, that’s the drive I think needs to happen.
Argumentum ad hominem nonsense doesn’t exist, because with Argumentum ad hominem you use others behaviour or sentences to prove you’re right by showing them what they said or did.
I suppose you was trying to say ad hominem ad personam which i still did not.
It’s start to be to much complicated to speak with you, mainly because I have to explain you basics, you tried to look clever but you aren’t, you make mistakes all down the road.
There is the end of your lecture. As you may i see; i did an ad hominem ad personam as exemple.
Cheers cu bye bye kiss love

not beg for money ( just a personnal brain fart, internet transformed a lot of our society and digitalise everything, even hobo)
I just want to say Aaron gatekeeping the info is trash. EHG should have set solid guidelines on what the expectation is for the information being released. This also isn’t about marketing and reaching new players/potential players etc as no one has a clue who Aaron is. You want marketing and to reach new people through youtube and the like, ask someone like Rhykker or Raxx to make a video, they will reach an audiance 100x+ what aaron could hope to reach.
