Upcoming bug-fix to Ballista

This guy has no arguments, he keeps to ridicule other users arguments and nothing more.

You can’t see the problem because you didn’t invested 200 hours of your time and efforts in that build.

This is not a game breaking bug. It doesn’t break the servers. Other games can live with this. I’m sure le can do the same aswell.

Are you saying me “don’t play that content”? Seriously?
Your solution is not risk free anyways. You know what is a risk free solution? Don’t invest your time into the game.

Nothing is risk free but but some things have less risks than other things.

The point is not the bug affecting or not the servers stability, they made a survey asking if community wanted bugs that were severely impacting some builds performances being fixed on the fly or not and the majority said yes.

There’s not much more to say, you can’t come into one of those broken builds by complete chance, people who went for them knew they were broken by a bug and NOT by an unforseen interaction. But the problem isn’t even this, is that those bugs were huge, if they were minor they would have probably left them untouched like it’s happening for many other skills/nodes.

This, in the end, is the main argument of all those in favour of making mid-league changes.

This, apart from being an incredibly presumptuous or naive statement (the choice is yours) tends to shift the responsibility for such shortcomings from the developer to the user and at the same time justifying a form of punishment that befalls the player. As subtle as it is intelectually dishonest. Good job.

If you are CoF, i can partly agree. If u r using Bazaar, then strongly disagree.

Okay, so now we shifted from no bugs at release, to a few bugs, good. Name a good game (or arpg if we r talking more strictly) with very few bugs, please.

Yes, i agree with you on that. Yet, to be sure that we are on the same page, how those “massive changes” will change your build? What affixes will you change, which parts of uniques/exalts will need to be reshaped? You’ve spent lots of time and effort into this build, meaning you should know how to negate those changes and/or if it’s possible at all

Such builds can very easily break the economy or leaderbords. Leaderbords was always a place to watch for bugged builds, that needs to change imo.
Tho most of my concerns are about Bazaar and RMT… but that’s another story

I am pretty neutral about this. I usually don’t play severely OP builds because I don’t find them fun, so the changes won’t likely affect me at all but I can understand how it feels to have a build nerfed (these fixes result in a nerf 99 times on 100 let’s not fool ourselves) after 100+ hours into it.

What can I say? It’s up to the devs one way or another. Given I don’t give a s about leaderboards, maybe someone does and those are probably the ones wanting broken by bugs builds fixed even mid cycle.

You just can’t please everyone, they made a survey exactly because of that. Of course the bug is their fault, but abusing it is our choice.

I have never seen a game that nerf builds every week. Thank you, sir. You told me what a bad team you are.

Just see what ‘people who wanted to have fun’ have made to D3. It’s become so easy that even the hardest content (GR 150) can be done in 1-2 mins. ‘People who want fun’
usually just want to have 1-button kill-all-the-screen no-brainer builds. They are a plague to aRPG. They just lazy whiners. Has the devs made warlock and ballista builds unplayable?? no. so why whine? The less such people will be in the LE community the healthier it will become.

People who insult other players are certainly healthier for a community.

Weeeell… LE community differs from PoE at least, dunno about D3-4. And game pacing was different from other arpgs.
While that guy just comes in and dictates ehg to do things differently, not like they see it, because he used to play other arpg where things are different.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do :face_with_monocle:

This is why the argument behind do NO fixes mid-cycle has a lot to commend it, even if it’s down to bugs. D4 taught the world this is NOT a good idea and you will lose a substantial amount of the player base doing so. EHG have chosen the same path, so I guess they are willing to sacrifice those who they alienate via mind-Cycle nerfs.

I suppose a lot of people level in good faith, and so why should they be punished? Especially if they invested a lot into whatever it is that just got nerfed.

For full disclosure I didn’t really care as the ladder means nothing to me, but I voted yes to mid-Cycle bug fixes if the imbalance was major, and no to all the other questions.

I think there’s maybe one person over 100 that was leveling the bugged builds in good faith. I am sad for those ones but at least let’s not fool ourselves.

99% of players playing a build that has bugs in it should be hired i guess.

Higher?

Trying this out today since the patch went live.

Sitting at 103 dex… explosion now takes appx 1/4 the screen , still does the same damage from what I can tell. But the area is… as expected… fixed.

“Everybody is farming 2k-5k corruption”. I guess it is save to say that you have no clue about this game or the playerbase of it. I’m sure 90-95%+ of the playerbase is not even close to seeing 1k corruption this cycle nor do they cry on the forums.

Just because a couple of future mcdonalds employees / wannabe elitists / content creators pushed 2-3k corruption with bugged builds does not mean that is what the majority of the playerbase does nor does the majority of the playerbase get anywhere close to it.

I would argue that bazaar prices are more the reason of goldsellers/botters and the people buying gold for real money + paying those ridiculous bazaar prices. If the market experiences bis items on lp3/4 go out for billions ofc the market is gonna regulate itself around those prices. The market or the sellers do not care if the items get bought by a botter / goldshopper and that the majority of the playerbase could not dream of farming those amounts in one cycle. All they see is items seeling for 1-2billion gold so there is no reason to sell it for less. It is a simple trading economy ruled by supply and demand… If the supply is low and people pay ridiculous high prices why would you expect anything else?

“now you decide to nerf them, giving them more profit margins clownsmile” How is making it alot harder for them to farm high corruption now w/o bugabusing giving them a profit margin? You really have no clue what you talking about, do you?

“You are just disappointing us, over and over, and over, and over…” Wow, the game is out for 1month now and they already made alot of great fixes to the game + they have great communication with the community. Some people are just delusional I guess.

Don’t you just love people who are overly dramatic and exaggerate everything

Im only saying that most people who were using those builds knew they were bugged.

I’m not judging them but I can’t pretend we believe that a lot of them were casually using exactly the OP bugged builds.

Also - AGAIN - the point is not they were bugged, the problem was that the bug allowed them do deal WAY more damage then intended. If the bug caused the builds to deal 10% more damage, they would have probably waited next cycle to fix them.

discoverd this build last week , before, i leveled a beastmaster earthquake lvl 99,7.
copied this one Abobiys - AgroMorphius - Character Profiles - Last Epoch Tools
my toon lvl 89 here Ballister - djarkan - Character Profiles - Last Epoch Tools with no LP filled

i hit 250k JUST WITH BALLISTAS explosions,that is 2X my lvl 99.
i die at each hit, i can’t play that lol and i’m only coruption 100-135
perhaps with lots of mana regen to sustain ballistas to the screen borders to spam explosion
it’s called rolling fire in the army
i’m playing CoF
tested with the fix and it’s still totaly OP cos it’s still blasting a screen with only 88 dext

i think ballista and totems shouldn’t be placed so far from the player, like POE did

i you cry with that small fix go playing Mahjong or else

Right, and what I’m saying is that it’s more logical to think about it the other way around:

+41% increased radius = +100% increased area
+73% increased radius = +200% increased area
+100% increased radius = +300% increased area
+182% increased radius = +700% increased area

I can see how they might have internally wanted to increase the area, then miscommunicated that to someone who didn’t know that they needed to do this calculation to figure out that they needed to increase the radius some%, and just added 150% to the radius instead.

But the way they worded that in the post above kind of obfuscated that. It wasn’t something I immediately wrapped my head around. Which, I guess I can understand. Players can be toxic, so I can see them wanting to protect their employees.

Yes, other skills do skill area with increased area effect. I’m not aware of other skills scaling radius. I have not used every possible skill in the game, but I can say that with confidence for Elemental Nova, Healing Hands, Rive, Warpath, Maelstorm, and Cinder Strike, since I experimented with them for my builds. In Beta I played a Hands of Judgement paladin which sclaes area of Judgement at 2% per Attunement, and it was scaling area. I just retested it: Without my gloves, it has the size of a waypoint, approximately. With the gloves and 45 attunement, the radius grows less than 50%, not 90%.

The conclusion is that this was really a mistake.

There are some skills/nodes that specifically mention radius: Earthquake’s Seismic Tide for example, or Glacier’s Engulfing Vortex. So there is a destinction in the game from the dev’s perspective.
