Chiming in simply to say that several people in this thread have obviously not read the forum guidelines - you know, the ones that pop up when you start your first couple of posts? I’ll copy them here for your perusal:

Constructive criticism is welcome, but criticize ideas, not people.
Extreme rage with no logic behind it should never be taken seriously when designing a system. Be aware of it and seek to understand the core behind the anger, but ignore the actual posts. An extremely unfortunate side effect of the instant and anonymous nature of forums, combined with the polarized nature of modern life, means many people will react to a perceived slight with extremely unbalanced rage.
It can be hard, but as the saying goes, “don’t feed the trolls”.
Initially, the area was calculated using a linear equation: area = base (2.7) + increase (0.1). It’s important to note that 0.1 is not equal to 0.01 and does not match 0.04, the latter being the expected outcome after adding four points.
After the Modification:
Following the revision, the area is determined by the formula area = base * (100 + increase) / 100. However, the resulting values either question the validity of this new formula—possibly indicating a bug—or suggest an exceptionally high level of skill from the developers in the game.
thank you, we got it that he was wrong lol
The guy you quoted was not trying to disprove whether the node was buggy or not. He was trying to express the fact that the bug was not obvious even to an experienced player, despite the fact that it is described as an obvious and glaring bug by a lot of scientists in this thread.
why make such changes in the middle of a game season. I have no trust in the developers. how can you do something new, and then it will change. this is terrible!
The “problem” here is that you basically only want to play OP builds. Warlock has tons of builds but by chance you chose the ward one. Falconer has tons of builds but you chose the smoke bomb one by chance. Or the Balista by chance. Now the wratihlord by chance again?
I’m pretty sure you won’t have any issues with bug fixing that result in damage nerf if you play forge guard or shaman or spellblade.
Did you think for one second that if 90% of builds “die” at 1000 corruption max while yours is face rolling 2000 there’s probably something wrong in some skill nodes combo?
well, that and/or we need a total overhaul of old masteries too tbh. I’ve started FG rn, trying to build something cool out of it, but meh, most of his kit is so weak compared to others. Low stats on tree, some weird nodes in skills and passives etc etc. At the end of the day, i am forced to rely on reworked Healing hands it seems.
Bug fixing is good, but also we really do need an overhaul of old masteries imo. I guess EHG feels that too, cuz starting from Runemaster, then falco, wlock, they r by default relatively strong compared to old masteries.
There are really no problems in playing op builds lol.
I’m not sure if you realize it but… the game is unbalanced. If you like to play underpowered builds go for it but do not criticize who does the opposite.
I get the difference between radius and area. And, I understand what they are claiming in the original post.
But, I am curious about this:
Does every other skill and item in the game with “increased area %” calculate this based on area and not radius? This skill just happened to be calculated differently, and by mistake?!
It just seems extremely fishy to me that the “bugs” they find just so happen to be bugs in the best builds in the game.
The tooltip for that skill having area based on dex is overpowered on the surface alone. They should have known better. But, that was their choice!
Call a nerf a nerf is all I am saying. And get your game tested and balanced BEFORE it is released. And then stick with you decisions about the distribution of power.
It is really not fun to pour tons of effort into choosing a build then leveling a build then gearing a build to then have it NERFED. You can call it a bug fix all you want but at the end of the day it is simply semantics. And, I personally think it is deception. And, that they are clearly trying to find anything in overperforming builds that they can claim is a bug and nerf it under the guise of fixing bugs.
The profane veil bug was obviously a bug and everyone knew it (apparently before they did). But, this is sus. Ya’ll can simp for devs all you want. I am gonna call it like I see it.
If you wanna release a brokenly balanced game. I am not against it. It is kind of fun in some ways. But, stop changing it mid stream. Just get it right beforehand or live with the fact that you didn’t properly test things first.
Of course there’s no problem in wanting to play one button smash builds, I was just pointing out that especially in this early stage OP builds are more likely OP because of bugs and are more keen to be fixed (= nerfed) while on par or under performing builds won’t likely have this issue.
Yeah, poor guy, poured tons of effort into choosing a build
As it was said already, dmg is not touched. Means u still can one-shot everything till 5k C and higher. So?
Well, to me it would make more sense to nerf dps…
But yet u need to wait for nerfs, log in, test changes and tell us how it feels after the nerfs ^^ Maybe they r not so crucial and u will still find a way to one-shot everything and not die :3
The problem (without quotes) arises when the decision is made to nerf (fix) the builds mid-league. We are not supposed to know what is bugged, or poorly balanced. This is not a guessing game.
A few bugs is one thing. Being absolutely riddled with blatantly obvious ones is another. Plenty of games come out with very few bugs.
I said choosing a build + leveling + gearing. And, yes all those thing are quite a bit of effort COMBINED.
By the way, my argument isn’t even about ME personally being hurt over this change. I usually play a Necromancer. It is about making massive changes to people’s builds in the middle of a season. I am just very much against this.
I don’t see any problem if the affected builds are affected because of huge bugs that make them not working as intended.
As I said in another thread, given the complexity of the game, if they have only one patch at the beginning of every cycle to fix major bugs (meaning 3/4 patches per year) the game will be bugged forever (it’ll probably be anyways but indeed).
Don’t wanna risk nerf? Don’t play a build that does 2/3x the damage of any other Tier S build. It’s that simple.
