I haven’t been crashing non stop but I have seen 2 unity crashes in as many hours. Each time was while changing zones.
+1 crashes
+1 craches since 1.2.0.1
I was crashing again and again at the same place. I did a check of the files in the steam properties section, one corrupted file was found and replaced. And since no more crash.
Did a full check twice, no corrupted files. Played around with settings, Full Screen, Windowed, Borderless, Ultra → Low settings. Updated Graphic Drivers, Sound Drivers, MoBo Drivers. What does prolong the time i can play is setting everything to Low. But i still crash every other Mono.
AMD Ryzen 5 3600x

Crashing on the Dreadnought’s deck twice in a row now.

FYI check your Windows pagefile settings. I was getting constant crashes requiring PC hard reboot. I had manual pagefile size for C: drive and no pagefile setting for D: drive (where LE is installed). After configuring system-managed pagefile size on both drives, my crashing problem is gone (at least for the few hours I’ve played, but it was literally unplayable before).
+1 crashes, not sure how to find my log files,. I keep getting the Unity crash, usually when I try to enter game after choosing a character, but sometimes also before even reaching the main menu.
Same issue here. I constantly crash when trying to switch zones. Sometimes it’s just the game that crashes with some unity error window popping up, sometimes my whole PC freezes and I need to force shutdown.
Interesting, that might be what causes one of my issues. I’m playing on Linux, Fedora 42 using Proton, and now with season 2, the game often doesn’t initialize properly.
I need to try multiple times to start the game, Steam tries to launch it, but nothing happens, so that I need to kill the process and try again until it works. Sometimes, changing to a different Proton version helps, but it’s the same with all of them.
If the game is in that state, Steam is unable to end it. I don’t get any notification or popup, but I believe I saw unity crasher in the process description in htop.
So frequent crashes, i cant even play.
If i run the game on borderless windowed, it instantly crashes after logging in to my character.
If i run the game on fullscreen with applied virtual super resolution (i have a 1440p monitor and use a bigger resoulution in this instance), yesterday i could start a new char and get to lvl 8, today i crash after a few minutes of gameplay. (i updated the amd chipset driver to its latest version from 1 version older since yesterday)

Edit:
Verify integrity with steam didnt help.

Edit:
I tried it with -force-d3d12 launch option. The results are the same but with a bigger log lol.

Edit:
I managed to play a few minutes without problems in fullscreen mode 3200x1800 resolution, but if i open up settings or menus it crashes
Player.log (560.7 KB)
Edit:
It seems like if i open up the game, have the settings on fullscreen 3200x1800 resoultion (important because other resolutions just straight up crash) save on the settings and then never open up options or never alt tab out of the game i can manage to play for longer times.
And then i get random crash mid fight.

[SOLVED] (For me at least)
I hope this can help somebody because I dealt with chronic unityplayer.dll crashes for weeks and read every forum post on the internet about how to fix it. I tried EVERYTHING.
Frames capped
Frames uncapped
Settings High
Settings Low
Uninstall and Re-install LE
Uninstall and Re-install Steam
Update Nvidia Drivers
XMP on
XMP Off
Lowered Long and Short Voltages in Bios
Increased Page File size in Windows to 32
Run game as Administrator
Hardware acceleration in Nvidia and Windows
Full Screen Optimizations on and Off
Unplug controller
Pretty much any random advice you can find on this topic I tried and the crash came back within hours every single time.
I have finally fixed this issue for good and it has not come back in over 40 hours of gameplay which was unheard of for me. (Update 5/22/2025 Still zero crashes after a week of playing every day for 8+ hours.)
As I was going through my event viewer I realized that I was always getting an error saying that Microsoft could not install intel chipset drivers within minutes, or sometimes almost at the exact same time as LE crashing with unityplayer.dll crash. I wanted to then check if all of my motherboard drivers were up to date and tried to install MSI center but for the life of me I could not get it to install. It kept coming up with an error. So what I ended up doing was going to the Intel website and using their chipset utility. It found that I had out of date WIFI and Bluetooth Drivers for my motherboard. I used the utility to update both o those drivers,
At the same time I realized that my Bios was way out of date. I have a Pro Z790-P MB so I flashed the bios to the most recent version.
After I took these last two steps. The crashes are completely gone. My guess is that LE and Unity were trying to access the out of date chipset somehow and crashing because the drivers were not installed.
I suggest checking your even viewer for seemingly random other things failing at the same time as LE and going from there.
I hope this helps someone because I know how frustrating it can be to try to fix.
Good luck!
