i just heard on one of the streams that even if you buy an item from auction house you can still gift it to other players wich means RMT?
You can gift it to other players as long as you play with them enough time to get a resonance. So yes, you can buy an item for RMT, but then you have to play along with the seller for some time so he can actually give it to you.
They should allow the ātrade tokensā to be bought/sold on the auction house. Iām sure thereās nothing bad that could happen as a result.
That already severely limit RMT, but itās still possible.
As I answered in the other thread:
Technically RTM through gifting is possible, there is no way to make a in-game currency AH without it.
But I doubt it will be profitable for sellers to spend time farming resonance to get their account banned after several suspicious gifts. Then theyād have to buy a new copy of the game, relevel their char and make some gold to buy items.
Also for RTM gifting there is no way to prevent scams from both sides, making such activity even riskier.
There is gonna be RMT, but not huge.
While technically true, there are still hurdles to overcome.
The player you are gifting it to will still have to meet the Faction requirements to equip the item, & you will have to play alongside them for long enough to attain the required amount of Resonance for the trade.
So you canāt just rock up & exchange the item.
What if people have to play together for a few hours per obsidian resonance. Every gift-trade would require the trader to spend hours of work per item sold.
Do you pay real money in advance and then wait for hours of game time for your item in hope you wonāt get scammed? Or does the RM-Trader plays with you for hours, hoping you really will pay and buy the item in the end?
The idea of a buyer and a seller grinding together in the hope that an obsidian resonance (not a golden one!) drops, well, that idea amuse me very much.
Both frustrated, the stress of the scam, the seller doing one sell inā¦ 1-2-3+ hoursā¦
Oof, thatās the kind of misery in which I wallow.
They donāt actually have to do that, though. As long as both the seller and the buyer have enough MG favour, they can just direct trade.
That would require that the item hasnāt been traded before, but found by the RM-trade character. Thatās usually not how the whole business works.
That depends. RMT on D2 was based mostly about bots farming the same bosses over and over. People just didnāt care because they could join their games for xp and some loot. So thereās no reason why you canāt have farming bots on LE and then sell those drops for RMT.
Itās not as lucrative or fast, but itās still doable.
At lease LE canāt be plagued by āAH flippersā, a category of player I despise even more than RMT.
The duriel mats would like a word with you. I donāt think they believe they can stop 99.99% of it, or possibly that they even want to go through that effort, makes me a little sad. Any amount of rmt is a crack that the $$$ farmers will furiously pound away at to find a way to make that crack larger. ROI is 4 weeks instead of 2 days? Not an issue for the $$$$ farmer, which as has been pointed out repeatedly on other forums is usually operating with stolen money anyway.
I agree. That actually has an effect on the economy. Someone deciding to sell their rare item for real cashy monies doesnāt make me have that item anymore than when they decide to sell it for 99999999^99999999999 gold. One constant is that anyone with an item of any significant rarity will always attempt to sell it for a price only 1 other person can afford. At least with RMT, everyone has a chance at it! Diveristy4tehwin!
i am excited to be able to get drops not for my class and then do something with them that isnāt sharding. i have 0 desire to say āwow new unique let me save this for an alt i will level to echo grindā.
that said, iām hoping these anti-rmt hurdles are less friction for people trying to trade items without a menagerie of alts than they look to be
The return of investment matters if they could use the investment to make money faster and with less risk involved elsewhere.
If you canāt make a quick $, you risk being caught and losing your investment. $100 stolen money is still a $100 you already had.
Only if you have a resonance with that other player which will require āa really long timeā of playing with the player you want to give the item to. Iām not sure RMTers are likely to spend many hours playing with one person just to sell them a few dollars/freedom sterling worth of item.
Thanks for believing everything you see on the internet & posting everything in a new thread.
you must be new to video games and RMT if you think ingame items cost only few dollars when they will cost hundreds and thousands but thanks for being clueless and having zero common sense maybe educate yourself a bit before talking about topics you have no knowledge about
Well, thereās also this little bit from the Patch Notes:
So, maybe that resonance isnāt even needed, as long as weāre trading within the Merchant Faction. And, since CoF items arenāt tradable anyhow
ā¦that seems to be the only route RMT will have.
