This is why they delayed. Think people don’t realize if Season 2 isn’t a massive success then EHG doesn’t have money to develop Season 3 and future seasons. Season 1 was a pretty big failure as it failed to bring back less than 30% of the players. This game right now is dead and it’s been dead for many months. (over 99% of the playerbase quit, that’s real bad)
Season 2 needs around 200k+ players to salvage this game and bring it back to life. EHG knows that or it could be the end to LE and then difficult financial decisions would have to be made where the studio is bought out if they want to keep the game alive.
That’s just how games work. I love LE and hope this game has a great Season 2 and hope eventually they can keep growing and have the 400k or 500k+ concurrent players it should have. EHG and anyone knows Season 2 is a big deal. If not well… sadly things won’t be good for the future of the game.
Final Thought - I believe Tencent knows this too, which is why PoE 2 had to be on April 4th and GGG had no say in it. Of course that is speculation but it makes a lot of sense that a large company can crush the smaller one and buy them all out. It’s a real shame GGG is owned by Tencent now. I hope EHG never has that fate.
For those who don’t know Tencent owns 25% of EHG and fully owns 100% of GGG/PoE 2 and willing to bet they would love to own 100% of EHG and then they can fully crush other ARPG companies controlling the market. I’d love for EHG to be successful and buy back the 25% from Tencent. Just not a fan.
Tencent trying to be like Google and buying everyone out so they don’t have competition.
Second Life lives and falls through having quality models and tools available. It’s not a game, it’s first and foremost a social environment (And was actually designed for remote business handling initially) and people make with it whatever they can come up with.
Imagine buying something with decent quality there as the same as buying a expensive suit… it’s the visual representation of status simply and far less based on what you personally like rather then what others will perceive. Quite a bit away from MTX.
It’s a quite interesting topic who and how different monetization systems draw in paying people… and also how it affects how the games are perceived.
nah man they should release the league in the same exact date as PoE and PoE 2 you know people can just play whatever they like! no need to be able play on day 1 can play at any time no rush really! okay il stop i just wanted cosplay the clowns in this thread who dont realize how important it is to get the most players on day 1
You not agreeing with stuff doesn’t make that stuff made up. It also doesn’t make the other person a clown but your repeated assertions & inability to put forth a coherent argument that doesn’t revolve around “dude, stop projecting and coping” does call into question your cognitive abilities. So you have fun when you try to do something serious like going to university or having a job, that shit definitely doesn’t fly IRL.
I was reading this and was like no way someone believe this.
Then you said this and was like ohh phew, I know you had to be trolling with the first part. Yea you will learn who to block to avoid the forums warriors who troll all day.
I’m not starting a season 3 weeks late or latter. I’m skipping that season if I can’t play at the start. There is nothing more important than playing at the start of the season. When the launch dates were close between LE and PoE 2, players are actually forced to make a decision on which game they will play. The majority aren’t playing both, that’s just not how ARPGs work.
At least now from a marketing standpoint LE has it’s own launch time where content creators and Twitch drops etc can all be at a separate time to generate hype around the new content.
Of course many players will just play PoE 2 now but the good news is it’s in early access so if it’s not a lot of new content when LE launches we can at least pull people over from PoE 2 because there will be content creators and marketing playing LE. People’s eyes will be on LE and they will see it and say, you know what let me try it.
Delaying LE while I wish it didn’t have to happen was the only logical financial decision the company could of made. If they kept the original launch date EHG would be in serious trouble and LE’s future would of been in jeopardy. I’d like to add moving release dates cost a lot of money too but it’s better than the future of LE being on the line.
@Deviant I recommend zipping it. Your posts are extremely low quality and likely already at the edge of incurring a reaction from EHG. Talk about topics and stop the insults, you’re doing yourself no favor. You’re being the prime example of a forum clown this way. Change it and people will properly argue, so stop doing it in bad faith.
@Everyone_Else: I know feeding the trolls is a lovely thing, and it’s also providing value to point out things said by trolls to others to clarify positions and provide more information to the people which are not that troll.
But that guy solely derails it into personal arguments. It’s not a critically urgent mandated command after all!
Why so?
What does it provide - for example - if you’re a CoF player?
Oh, he already said in the past that CoF players are a minority and only want a challenge, so the game shouldn’t care about them. Much like the game shouldn’t care if you’re not an ultra blaster, because if you’re not playing the game at the absolute limit then you’re not playing the game at all.
To him there only exists the ultra elite (which obviously use MG since that gets you the items you want the fastest), the rest are tourists, at best, and should be ignored.
Not that he will see this. I’m actually surprised this has been going for so long without him blocking someone.
I define myself as a “Solo CoF player using Custom builds”. From this POV, starting fist day a season is… not that relevant.
For “Solo Trade players using Meta builds”, being ahead of the economy for attaining required items for their builds, is definitely a strong argument for starting early.
As for new players, assuming they can take any of the traits, EHG would favor the increase of the game population by making sure that the group of players with the more timing restrictions, has a smooth playing time. So I guess the delay makes some sense.
About season 2 number of players… not sure what to expect. But my hope is that EHG gets enough monetary push to be in the business for as long as possible.
He blocked me a long time ago. Probably because I’m not an “ultra blaster” who regularly pushes builds into the 10k corruption with white gear like he does.
when trolls are calling out others for troll you trolls want for this game to not be succesful at all you just keep saying “play what you like dont care about anything else” i care about the company itself not just about me i want for LE to grow big with lots of content and they are not gonna get there if they gonna keep releasing their cycle just few days apart from PoE/PoE 2 league launches do you even realize for game like this to make money they need get as much players as possible? becuz they got only MTX the best way to get as much players possible is let them being able to play on day 1 without needing to choose wich arpg game to play becuz they colide with each other how are you people so dense you all are just trolling
I agree with you there. But probably not for the same reasons. I hate time pressure. Yes, for me that makes Seasons in ARPG inherently not something I want. For me it sucks the fun right out of the game.
So yeah I’m not starting late either just because I’m feeling like I probably won’t have enough time getting all the things done I want to do. At season start this is not much of an issue because “it’s just starting”. But if I start late? I would really want to play the new content to even start considering this.
I’m very glad this isn’t an issue in LE yet. Also - again just personal preference - a good “patch day” brings me back way faster to a game than a good “season”. For me it ticks the same boxes just without the annoying stuff.
Besides the point of time pressure, for me personally there is the observation of “starting a whole thing together with everyone else - even if I’m just playing solo - is fun”.
Dunno why that is, but it is true for me. Herd mentality/social animal things I would guess.
And for hardcore players there is probably the market, competition and speedrunning. All profit from an early start. Even for CoF players (like me) having a good start on the race to beat Abby is worth something.
Not anything that would interest me personally though.
I still find it hard to pinpoint how effective this twitch/youtube marketing actually is, but it does help. And I hope the content creators won’t be too invested in the new PoE content to switch over after those two weeks.
So out of curiosity, how long on average would you play a season for if you started on day 1? What would happen if you were 1/2 way through your list of things to do when another game that you really wanted to play started their season?
