Everyone is free to their opinion but if they nerf builds after people have already invested in them; not only is it disheartening to have wasted your time but the concurrent player count will drop drastically. PoE has some of the best player retention because unless builds are literally breaking the game (crashes, massive frame drops, etc.) they leave it alone and let people have fun until the next league where it is fixed. Have your opinions but also understand what it will do to a player base when you micromanage people theorycrafting and playing a league based game.
Totally true, nerfing something in the middle of the race is such a bad decision, unless its something that have extremely wide effect (count as a bug or something)
So where are the in-progress survey results? You know EHGâŚin the interests of transparency!
100% agree - DO NOT nerf mid cycle - it will do way more harm than good - also doing nerfs next cycle gives you more time to do them and more testing
You should take the survey so you can tell them that it the manner they asked you to do.
Yeah on second thought I really should. You are right.
Yes, especially for the first season!! Itâs already gone too long, with everyone knowing⌠Minor things where some class is leading by 10% or something. This is ONE MILLION WARD and ONE SHOTTING BOSSES. Thatâs gross. Insane. Itâs beyond tweaks and balance. That blows everything out of the water. Most people already switched because why waste their time when they can get a char 10x better??
One-million ward and 1 shotting T4 bosses undermines the whole game! Is this a joke?? How is this real? Wow real fun! This will go down in history as one of the craziest decisions to keep. Those most vocal here have a stake too - theyâre playing the classes, defending their 3000 corruption invinci-build. I canât believe you left it. Balance between classes should be a priority. A whole SEASON? Oh just letâs give them 2 choices if they really want to compete! Youâve just pushed more people to the broken classes. What were they doing in testing? This seems totally obvious too. Itâs been a huge mistake all-around and itâs going to overshadow everything when people speak about last epoch 10 years from now.
From what I gathered most of this stuff has been reported by testers during CT (except for maybe wraith lord as it was a last minute addition?). But for some unknown reason it was not a priority for release. Maybe not enough time with all the other stuff going on.
Falconer is OK because he is paper class without immortal skills so i am pretty sure nerfing falconer is BAD idea, thinking ⌠take warlock with his huge damage + IMMORTAL CIRCLE SKILL, that the right reason a bit nerf that class âŚ
I am glad that you are very interested in the feedback from your playerbase, however I hope you are aware that very often on certain topics it is only the loudest side that emerges.
I am all for fixing bugs that can have a negative impact on server performance, despite this I am strongly against balancing while the cycle is still ongoing.
No one wants to play with the fear of investing in a powerful build because it could be nerfed at any moment. This is the nightmare of any arpg player.
I personally wouldnât play a game that operates this way and so would many other players.
I think the balancing of the game should be the running between cycles and the stability of progress mid-cycle should be guaranteed.
No. Go play PoE if you want a Souls type ARPG.
nerf falconers, warlocks, necromancers until those characters are nothing but paperweights. ward needs to be limited to (your hp x 2), so a maximum of doubling your EHP., and even that should only be achievable for specialized builds.
only after these changes will the leaderboards begin to heal.
I answered your survey, but I donât see the point of it unless itâs just to prove youâre listening. Your customers donât have the right data to make an informed vote. Of course, in a perfect world free of resource constraints, there is no backlog and everything is fixed immediately. Thatâs not the reality of modern software development, in games or anywhere else. If you decide to make a mid-cycle balance pass, something else is getting de-prioritized to make the time, but we donât know what that is, now or in the future. How much would realistically be gained? I think most of the people arguing in favor of patching have a belief that these sorts of patches will happen in a matter of hours/days after the unbalanced issue is discovered. Is that realistic? What if the best EHG could do is a true mid-cycle patch, 6 weeks into the cycle. I have to imagine that would change peopleâs votes.
For all us players know, you all knew about the Warlock ward issue before 1.0 released, and ran out of time to fix it. This stuff happens. So in my opinion the real question is, does the value of a mid-cycle balance pass in a game where cycles only last a few months, outweigh the cost of whatever will be delayed because of it? Players can only see one side of that equation though, so I wonder about the value of asking our opinions.
Just donât abuse bugs, it is literally that simple.
Fix them before & After, not during.
Personally I donât play these builds but I do have limited time to play the game between work and commitments.
I donât have the time or patience to start a whole new build if mine is nerfed due to something I had no control over to begin with.
Also, asking the Loud Minority on a forum isnât a great way to do this⌠I understand there arnât many options but a vast minority of players actually visit the forums for anything other than patch notes.
Youâll end up with a lot of players builds being changed because the unappointed politicians said so.
Crazy to me that EHG is incapable of making a common sense decision like this without a majority vote. Driven by fear of upsetting people benefiting from imbalance and bugs at the cost of the integrity of the game.
If a build is overperforming by a mile nerf it
Atherwise whats the point of leaderboards?
If something is bugged fix it a bug is a bug after all.
There isnât a point to them, and there never will be. Unless you no-life the game like itâs your job (or it is your job) you never stand a chance.
Iâd also like to see fixes to builds that are underperforming due to bugs. Blast Rain Explosive Trap is a good example.

Of the 100k Daily active users I guarantee not even 1% give a damn about a Ladder.
The difference between #10 & #30 is 200 Waves, leads me to believe anyone under that got there by accident because they were bored and trying something different.
Iâm all for bug fixes, which is what this was, a bug fix not a nerf.
However itâs the implications that concern me.
EHG can at any point now say âWe have found a bug in X and will be Fixing itâ if they donât like the way a skill/item is performing.
