Mid-Cycle Build Balance Survey

All evidence to the contrary with how explicit they’ve been about their bugs versus OP design.

Why would they change now?

It would be nice, if we had the option to add some remarks inside the survey for each question. I don´t think that its done with nerf it or don´t nerf it mid cylce.

The game and your build will still be playable after making certain builds not OP.

If you have one of those builds, you’ll just have to play the game a different way, and maybe worry about dying like the rest of us plebes. It’s more fun IMO.

However now they have a community accepted path to do whatever they like with whatever they like under the guise that it’s a “Bug”.
I feel like credibility went straight out the window when they completely changed their stance on altering builds mid cycle.

This is what I’ve been trying to get at, I don’t care that the build changed, it doesnt effect me in the slightest, I didn’t play it and don’t care if other people did… But the door is now open for them to do something that does effect me mid cycle.

Not that I want to go into this any further, I’m currently stuck defending a stance that doesnt effect me which makes me no better than the people calling to nerf builds that don’t effect them in a PvE game.

I play explosive Ballista.
I already push massive corruption without any chance of dying… Ever… Because everything on the screen is dead.
Basically, I play “Pick up loot simulator”.

I’ll try end this by saying I’m glad they fixed the bug, I’m not happy about how and when they went about doing it.

And Ladder should have it’s own Server… Cycle, Legacy & Cycle Ladder.
Let Cycle Ladder have changes at any point through the cycle because lets face it, changing skills in a PvE game because “I don’t like the way someone else has fun, they need to be like me” is a poor argument.

When they completely changed the stance they specifically said wasn’t set in stone in the first place?

Great, indecisiveness, that’s definitely more credible than a solid stance.

“We’re not sure what we’re doing so we’ll just kinda make it up as we go guys, enjoy the ride”.

Please stop making me reply, it’s just getting worse :smiling_face_with_tear:

I wouldn’t say making a terrible decision and then arbitrarily sticking to it because that was your first choice is more credible than…not. But you do you.

Keep fixing with patches on new content/balances/changes/etc. The game is still have much to work on where many are just repeating content already trying to get all gears with 3/4 LP but the content is still the same. Many uniques and all sets are bad/unusable and won’t be BiS even if you try to make a build around it…

Don’t do cycle resets anytime soon imo and just reset the ladder for arenas if people desperate keep asking… Just disable all previously nonladder items to not be usable to participate in the new leaderboards and there goes your new ladder.

Don’t get me wrong, this game is great but can use a lot of polishing still to make it much better… A reset for a new cycle is the last thing we need for months and possible even the rest of the year to come imo

I will preface this by saying that I have only a few hours in Last Epoch, so my views are instead based on 10,000+, hours of ARPG s, primarily Diablo 2, Torchlight 2, Diablo 3, and Path of Exile. I am exceptionally excited to play!

I feel that anything that directly affects the meta - ie, everything is moving to build x because it is overperforming, needs to be brought back in line ASAP. Anything that is not changing meta is fine to leave overperforming until the next patch cycle. Because if it is not changing the meta, then in reality it is not actually overperforming by much.

I like to think in 3 main points:

  • Don’t try to force players to build different things, and do not EVER design game content based primarily on the most visible players. Streamers and regular forum posters are NOT your average player now that the game is out of beta.

  • “Players will optimize the fun out of the game” is absolutely true, but fighting it will just make matters worse. Let the ultra hardcore play a game they hate because they can’t help themselves. If you try to “fix” it, you break the game for the average player, or you remove most of the meaningful choices.

  • Do everything you can to give players the tools to understand what is going on, in game and out. Don’t rely on a wiki full of formulas to help people understand how to make a build. An informed player will have far fewer “quit moments” where they drop the game and don’t come back.

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope to find more time to dive into Last Epoch soon!
