Last Epoch: Orobyss, a major expansion, is coming to PC and PlayStation 5!

Travelers,

If you watched Sony’s State of Play today, you saw a couple of bits of exciting news. Last Epoch is coming to PlayStation 5 AND is getting a major expansion called “Last Epoch: Orobyss.”

While we aren’t ready to say much about what’s included or when you can expect it just yet, Orobyss represents our most ambitious plans to date, both in story and content. You can learn more about Last Epoch: Orobyss and the PlayStation 5 release by checking out our post over on PlayStation’s Blog.

In the coming weeks, we intend on sharing a bit of our plans for Season 4 and Beyond, as well - so keep an eye out!

Optimization in monoliths? The only reason I stopped playing this game is because a build with a lot of visuals and effects would tank my FPS below 30 in some monoliths. This game needs optimization, the early-mid game is perfect. Monolith FPS is terrible; I would love to spend my time on Last Epoch if I could get consistant FPS in the later stages of the game. Thanks.

For reference, in other areas im getting 120-160 fps, the game becomes unplayable during monoliths with a Smite build.

Please have cross progression. :dog:

If it’s called “expansion” and not season/cycle because it’s paid, it might actually be the thing that forms the first crack in my unwavering optimism about the game’s future. Hopefully it isn’t paid, and if it is, hopefully it doesn’t set a standard for future content.

With that said, I’m really excited to see what’s in store - I love the lore surrounding Orobyss and the Void, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of them!

Edit: This is based purely on vibes, nothing has been said or confirmed about the expansion being paid. I see the discussion is starting to spread around the topic, so please don’t jump to conclusions or spread any rumors! <3

cross platform play please

Well, the game is paid for PC, its logical to be paid for ps as well. I think thats what they meant, not that they would make us buy expansions.

First of all: I hope it had cross-platform play, otherwise it’s a major fail.

Secondly: I hope the resources for moving onto a console (which makes a fraction of the playerbase of this genre) has been done by a separate development team rather then the core one, get your stuff fixed properly before expanding.

Thirdly: while it’s nice to see you guys expanding I would rather have a polished game then a widespread turd, can you get that handled first hence? Would really be nice.

This was exactly my thoughts the “expansion” wording is a red flag.

how do u think they will progress as studio financialy and with content payed expansions every year is what they need and this is good for game i believe anyone can afford 30 dolars for paying once a year

Not for a live-service game which is supposed to pay itself through a vanity shop.

We’re not talking about a self-contained game without community aspects, LE has set itself up to have that… lacks basically all functions necessary to warrant the setup and if you have to pay for the expansion it would also cause a further split of the playerbase.

If they do it I’m out since it would be a very dumb thing to do. We’re not talking about a polished product like Guild Wars 2 for example… where it’s acceptable to make a proper expansion and want respectively people to pay for it. We’re talking about a seasonal live-service game which is supposed to sustain itself through seasonal dropping supporter packs.

If they can’t manage it this way they’re not worth to support in the first place.

they get bought by a scummy company, instantly start charging for content before the game is even really complete

if it were still an indie game, I’d probably buy a paid expansion, however after the Krafton aquisition I fugured I’d enjoy the game as long as it lasted before the enshitification began and not spend any more money on it.

exactly this, unless this “expansion” is massive and i mean really massive. you either have expansions or seasons and lets be honest, season 3 for le wasnt that great, i dont have high hopes for some expansion.

Excited for the expansion, but I’m wondering why only PS5 and not Xbox. I would love to buy an Xbox copy for playing on the couch.
