Item rework thread - all suggestions welcome

Hiya this is a thread where people can post a link to an older item they think needs a rework or something added to it like maybe a higher drop rate/better LP chance. @EHG_Mike suggested in dev chat a few months back that I should do this here.

This is for OLDER items. I started in S02 last year so for me it would be any item before then. I’ll be doing items I would like to use/have tried. I only really play sent/rogue and some primalist.

I’d list more maces but there is a clear lack of them in game atm.

Please use in brackets (RW) for rework and (DR) for drop rate/higher LP for items you probably have never seen LP3 of, EVER due to 1 in 3 million etc no point in saying you can have an LP3 if it is close to impossible and highly improbable ie LP4 red ring. Having both (RW) or (DR) means the item is not strong/fun/good enough with current drop rate so rework it please or if you don’t want to rework it please allow it to drop more consistently LP2+ as it probably drops bad base with 0LP / LP1 far to often.

If you have an idea for a rework that’s fine try not make it too long like 99% of my shit posts, lol.

PLEASE DO NOT CRITICISE SOMEONE ELSES OPINION It’s their opinion, the choice is down to the developers not to those of us posting this is just so they can see thoughts and potentially consider an idea if THEY agree with it. Arguing or criticising will just derail the thread.

https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAwRlA4GYg - Leviathan Carver (RW) I think it would be cool to have a damage modifier on this maybe a specificly unique one due to it being a giant sword maybe remove the crit avoidance modifier and add something like 10% chance on hit to go into an frenzy or doing double dmg for a few seconds I dunno, I’m not that creative… ORRRR (DR) the drop rate when farming for this is horrible and when it drops its base stats roll poorly and the LP percent is also very low

You can only really get this sword with low LP as well from a decently high corruption which makes that whole point kind of null~
https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAzBsGYEYE4g - Merophage (RW!!!) epic base idea but having tinkered with this and a small group of friends doing it too with double and triple T7s this sword does not seem to ever go anywhere near the items you’re sacrificing which in most cases are better to use as a base item. I am not sure how to fix this other than adding much better base stats or changing how the shattering interacts to allow more chance for a double T7 + others, 100s of items were harmed in the making of this film.

https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAzCMoFgZiA - Gladiators Oath (RW) sword is designed for a skill that’s really clunky and even with the modifiers on it which are pretty nifty it pales in comparision for end game vs scissors, eye of reen or even a good rolled weavers gift. Maybe buff it up and make it harder to get/drop? It does drop easy and with lots of LP but even when slammed its 22 base melee dmg vs 73 melee base dmg, 15% attack speed and +2 level of melee attacks it has no chance. Especially when scissors rolls a T7 attack speed etc

Spears

I’ve seen a few videos of guys with lp3s and insane slams using it for various builds and they still say “over all its not as good as the tree”
https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAzAsEYCZiA - Trident of the last Abyss (DR!!) or (RW buff) I did an epic VK build with this spear this season and farming it was a nightmare as it’s a chance drop rate, chance to roll good, chance to roll good with LP lol - I had 26 stash tabs full of these, multiple times and couldn’t turtle / nem any lp3 - I had some good lp2s but even with a 77 roll my good clothos and my lp2 WS was better over all. Spear looks epic, feels cool but needs a little something added or higher base or chance to roll LP3 more often when farming for weeks.

Staves Awesome weapon, was amazing pre Fractal Tree - Bident builds have mana sustain issues and over all less dmg than a fully phys build and the fully phys was insanely hard to kill uber with, not even close with bident. I think it could be a higher level item with more dmg added to make it more used again because it looks flipping cool when you use it with smite.
https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAzCswdgZiA - Plague Bearers (DR) wicked item but again the base drops have a huge range and you struggle to get a nice one and when you do its generally low or no LP - I think this item would be used more if it rolled higher LP / smaller range - 10% to 200% is the biggest I’ve seen on any item in LE. Sick item, sick modifiers love it, just need better ones to play with. LP3 of this I think I’ve seen but had a terrrrrible base and you can’t really re-roll lp3s if they hardly ever ever drop lol

Cool idea but could do with some more synergys on the item even if it means making it level 70 or 85. Generally shuriken builds use traits or shards. You might find one to level with but even with the +3 to shuriken it’s not that great. Traitors drops more so you’d always swap to that. Easy to get with a couple of runes at the vendor too.
Daggers - Due to Traitors Tongue being so good the following need a buff (RW) imo. Jelkhor’s is good but melee det arrow mana cost makes it very pointless. Maybe add a mana stat or mana on hit etc

Body Armor
https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAzAswRgJiA - Yrun’s Wisdom (RW) very common but if you have a krestel or urzils pride which you probably do while levelling you’ll skip this armor as it offers nothing because you don’t need life while doing the campaign and you don’t need a bit of cold damage. The campaign is easy we all know that so this item is generally left on the ground, generally. Needs something to make it worth wearing and maybe if you do that lower the drop rate to make it harder to get, dunno.

Have never seen it outside of dungeon where as I have seen boots, shield and helm commonly using node in weavers tree.

Gloves
https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAzCcEYA4HYg - Salt the Wound (DR omg LP) flipping awesome gloves, like cool af stats and idea but them actually dropping is superrrrr low and then you have to pray if they do they get LP - In 1500 hours I’ve seen one pair lp2 and I bricked them, not fun times haha! Could make the glove timeline percentage higher so they’re easier to at least get a pair or a boss to farm, even with prophecies out the butt hole you’ll hardly see a pair and they are usually 0 or sometimes lp1.
Boots
https://www.lastepochtools.com/db/items/UAwjMFZiA - Flight of Quetzeri (RW) not really meant for end game but due to movement speed on mourning frost or rolled weavers etc they’re not really that good I don’t even use them when levelling a primalist. If the fury leap cool down was even higher maybe then you could bounce around more as primalist but yeah even with haste + fury leap the +7 move speed vs 30 just seems slower.

My 2 cents - I have personally tried everything I have listed here especially the weapons with multiple builds. Once I get past a week in game and can slam items with double T7s or more all my items armor, helm, trinkets, rings etc will all be slammed with T7 or T77 or 777 so when I do add the weapon to a build its as close to optimal as you can get so if it’s still lacking in damage that’s the reason why I’ve personally addressed the issue - I also do play at high corruption NOT A BRAG so the item might be viable at early end game which is cool but then drops off and you replace it with the same old clothos or world splitter etc

That is not how things work. Discussing an item, especially from multiple angles gives the devs way more than just a “this needs a rework” or “this needs drop rate/LP chance change”

I don’t think it needs a rework. It is incredible strong for specific use cases. It is definitely not an item you slap on any random build and you need to build around it. I prefer uniques to be very specific and niche rather than generically strong. If anything the LP chance maybe could be slightly increased.

Same as Eternal Eclipse. I love this Items, it is so strong if you build around it. Only thing I would agree with is giving it more LP chance. This is one of the rarest LP chance items overall. Farming it for 100’s of times getting more than 1 LP is super hard. Some of my best builds used this item and it is super fun and build defining.

Complete disagree. This item is super strong and has very high LP chance. The only “bad” thing about the item is the low base damage due to the low base type. But that is easily countered by the high LP chance and slapping a high tier exalted flat melee damage affix on it.

Why does this item need a rework? I think it is not the item that is bad, but rather Dancing Strikes being unpopular and thus this item doesn’t get a lot of use. So changes/buffs would need to happen for Dancing Strikes and this item would automatically become better.

I played a few different Dancing Strikes Builds already using this item and it was always super good and fun, especially because you can reliably get 2 and 3 LP versions of it.

Disagree. I think this is a case of one item that is way to strong and oppressive is ruining all the other items. Don’t buff a dozen other items. Nerf that one outlier. I think Traitor’s Tongue is a cool item, but it’s LP chance specifically is waaaaaaaaay to high. I think nerfing it’s LP chance so you only can get 1LP maybe occasionally 2LP reliably would be enough. So a 3LP or 4LP traitor s tongue are actually really really rare.
Changing the LP to be similar to Smoke Weaver’s LP chance would be the right ballpark of LP chance for Traitor’s Tongue

Why/how is more important than just saying that you think an item needs a rework. If a customer tells you that a thing you make/do/whatever isn’t particularly good, is that particularly helpful? Does it give you any idea as to what element they think needs improving & how?

I suspect the initial list doesn’t consider the level of the items. There’s room for low level uniques that are eventually superseded by more rare uniques.

Also some uniques are too powerful, so powerful that they occure in way too many builds and not all that rare / easy to get. In my opinion:

We could also look at lastepochtools builds to see which uniques are used the most and the least in their builds to get a better indication:

If an eternal eclipse or ANY item is incredibly strong canyou please show me a video of you using it to kill Uber? With Event Horizon I don’t think I’ve seen a recent build using this other than sheild bash, having an item specific for 1 or very little builds is a bit shit, dont you think? I’d also like to see a video of you clearning Uber or high corruption with Gladiators Oath. Also a dozen items? Dagger reference I mentioned 2 daggers. I did a ton of flask builds and traitors was 100x better than droughts. I did a lot of tinkering with jelhkors and even slammed lp3s with trip 7s and due to mana and damage melee det arrow is just not good past low level corruption.

@Llama8 the point of this thread was to have the devs just look at the older items and if they think hey they do need a rework then they give it a glowup. It’s not on me to decide what it needs or ill end up just making some kind of special 1 hander that’s only good for flay.

Yeah, which is fine, but just saying “I think this should be reworked” without giving my reason why isn’t particularly useful.

But why is that bad? It’s your opinion, which is fine & the devs should know why you think an item is bad, what scenarios you think it’s useful in & where you think it falls down. That is up to you to decide & it’s up to the devs to decide whether to do anything with that info.

To be fair, many uniques are actually designed for a specific skill, so they’ll only be used on very little builds.

I understand that but I also see that the old items where this is in fact the case or more than likely it was designed for something specific, the game has moved on, the skill is now not used or been nerfed or there are just better options that those items should be looked at. Is that a fair way to look at it or do you think they should stick around and not be used?

Ok I’ll go through after the stream and put in why I think the ones I listed need a rework

That depends on the item. If it’s a high level one meant to be build defining, then it should be looked at, or the skill should be looked at (sometimes the unique is fine, it’s the skill that’s underperforming).

But if it’s a lower level unique that gets replaced by other stuff at higher level, yeah, it’s absolutely fine to have it not be part of any endgame build.

A good example is Kestrel. It’s a great leveling unique, it’s just not good enough for endgame (I’ve only seen 1 build that used it and I’m guessing it was mostly because of being an easy 4LP with a couple useful stats).
Should Kestrel be changed so that a dozen endgame builds will want to use it?

I would say it’s fine as it is. Having uniques that are just part of the progression and not part of the endgame is a good thing.

My friend was using Krestel for uber on 2 builds, lol and it’s the best in slot for ballista - it’s actually great with Lp3 or 4 until you get a nice titans heart for void knight with lp2 with 77 or lp3 because the leech is so good with VK - specially with warpath as the aoe is so big you don’t get hit. Oh yeah also one of the best items for spell blade builds and multiple times I’ve used it at 500+ c for my rogue builds so really unsure of this as an example.

ANYWAYYYYSSS bro I dont think I listed too many beginner items, just the slab and some boots? When I mentioned mid-level kind of items I did say they could potentially be moved to higher level req and get a buff. Those mid level ones that I personally mentioned on my personal list were ones I personally don’t find useful, least not in the last 1500 hours or so. As mentioned I didn’t really start until a few weeks prior to season 2. If these were good in the past that’s cool but the past is no more. Most items I listed were end game or higher level req.

Ive also edit’d my list to have reasons why I think they need a rework - again my thoughts have a 99% chance to be different to yours and that’s cool <3

I wasn’t saying you did. I just replied to that specific sentence I quoted (“having an item specific for 1 or very little builds is a bit shit, dont you think?”) because I think there are plenty of acceptable examples of uniques that are only good for a couple of builds.
Or even just for 1 build, if that build revolves around that unique and can’t exist without it.

I wasn’t disagreeing or agreeing with your choices, just that specific argument.

Your referenceframe is way out of touch. Not every build or every item needs to be able to defeat Uber even less kill it in a few seconds. Most of my builds that I play can’t kill Uber or at least I didn’t put in dozens of extra hours to be able to defeat Uber, because the current progression jump from regular Aberroth to Uber Aberroth is just too high and not fun to grind.

I don 't know where you get your examples of “builds you have recently seen” from, but with all the stats you post which item is used how often I assume its LEtools? LEtools just covers builds from this forum and from people creating builds on LEtools. That is only a subset of all characters/builds.

And what exactly is "high corruption for you? 4 digit+ I assume?
I think my highest Gladiator’s Oath Build was running around on 500-700 corruption, I can’t remember exactly, that was beter DS got buffed and Uber was introduced. But I could see myself Doing that at some point, because I do wanted to do another build with DS and Gladiator’s Oath with one of the new primordial uniques.

I guess now you will say that is shit because you do 1203574325643634 corruption but for my purposes of having fun with the game and items everything within the 400-800 corruption range is enough for me. I never wanted to push any higher than that at all. And going higher than that is only for the top 1 percentile of the playerbase.

As pointed out above that statistic is only from one specific platform. And many platforms tend to skew the statistics a lot because most build guide sides tend to favor very popular or meta builds. Just because a item isn’t meta doesn’t mean its bad.

This isn’t correct. It covers builds on LET and it scrapes youtube builds as well. I don’t think it covers builds on these forums anymore.

In fact, the vast majority of builds on LET are from youtube, if you check “Builds” instead of “Build Guides” (and the Builds link includes the Guides one, so no real reason not to).
