Is Assembled Abomination truly that weak?

To bring a bit of fun in this heated debate, at least my permanent minion in a no corruption environment survived this fight when I did it last night.

It would have been bad if in that scenario I had lost some
I was more worried about myself the first time the attack hit the arena as I had no clue what to expect next.

Another tip here is maybe unequip Death Rattle amulet, if you are using one. It increases the damage your Minions take. It took a heavy nerf in 1.0 anyways, so maybe it is no longer a good choice for the amulet slot. If your perm Minions are dying, start there.

Ohh thats a very good indicator with Rahyeh, my personal favorite for checks was heroot because of the annoying limited movement and having to stay closer to him.

This is not the amulet I am using right now but it is good to know.
I’ve got a Turquoise Amulet at the moment and I am looking at an exalted one as an upgrade.

Perma minions are legit hard to keep alive, i would advise doing almost anything else as will save your sanity. What i found:

Minion dodge is a meme, basically does nothing as bosses aoes are undodgable due to scaling

Minion resist: good with 2 golems + (n= X/8) for helmet? That allows you to gain extra golems based on your max skeleton limit. Find you can get 2 extra golems, allowing for 4 golems. Needs a ton of passives and gear to work

Minion health: only useful if defense is high enough to tank,. Dont want golems to tank as they gwt huge boost ro resist in first 15s on spawn if golem corpse is near. Corpse i understand remains with abomination

Minion leach: find hard to scale.

Minion damage: useless, as your minons only job is to strip armor for you, and let your phyisal damage mods on spells do alot.

I’m currently using a very bad amulet and hoping for an upgrade soon. :frowning: I would never use Deathrattle though, doesn’t fit the bill.

You don’t need to necessarily be looking for an exalted upgrade. It might be a VERY long time before you find one. Be content with a rare upgrade.

I am aware that I might not find an exalted one for a while. At the same time, I’ve hit an island with exalted rings this morning that gave me a nice upgrade so maybe I’ll find one for amulet soon

I’ll keep looking as I work my way into the level 75 monolith later on today for sure.
Here is my gear right now: Necromancer, level 75 (Release / 1.0) - Last Epoch Build Planner

Note: Before you ask, Yes, I crafted a second +1 on my relic (the one for mages). It had the dot for the abomination on it as a drop and I wanted to see if these dots are worth it. I mean, they do in POE so testing was the goal.

Not good advice. Minion builds need to go all-in on Minions to be viable. The Necro does pretty much nothing beyond Bone Curse or Shade casting etc. For perma Minions you want a Minion boosting affix on every single slot that can take one. Preferably Minion Health and Minion Damage everywhere. Minion Crit too, including from idols etc.

Minion Speed is something that I didn’t realize was important until playing Beastmaster.

Necro minions are hard to command because they are slow comparatively and at higher levels of corruption that meant I wouldn’t be able to get them out of aoe attacks fast enough.

I stacked my minion health up to 800% and that has made a worlds difference.

Rahyeh’s ground AOE attack was a nightmare without any movement speed increase for my minions. I don’t know if anyone else feels that there’s a delay that happens when your trying to command your minions?

The main problem I see into that fight is that as you point your mouse to one place to get yourself out of harm’s way, you may want you minions to move somewhere else at the same time. Yet, you can’t point two places at the same time.

Unless you have a mouse with multiple buttons:
(I bound minion command to MB4)

This is the mouse I use

Binding the minion command on my mouse has been a game changer.

Let me rephrase that.

You cannot point at two places at the same time since there is only one cursor on the screen. You must move your cursor from point A to point B to give yourself an order to move followed by an oder for your minion to move.

I’m thinking of a comand button that has your minions all scatter outward perhaps?

The moment I think of this issue happening is when I’m trying to move out of an AOE and the minions follow my pathing (which is further into the aoe) which gets em all killed.

It make sense. It is just that sometimes, it is faster for the minions to go in one direction to get out of an AOE while for you it is faster to go in a different direction to achieve the same result.

Thread 2 long didnt read.

But as an abomination player, Abomination is only worth it when you make him the king of the castle and forgo the other minions.

Abomination is a greedy minion, he wants all the pets, sunshine and buffs. Having other minions around does not help him.

For a permanent minion focused “Zoo” I would go with Skeletons, Skeleton mages, Dreadshade, Golems, and summon wraith.

Summon wraith can also be made permanent.

So, I reached level 77 and was able to try to get rid of the Cold Damage on my exalted ring. Got Critical strike chance instead.

Which means the final ring have the following right now:

  • T5 Minion Damage
  • T5 Critical Strike Chance
  • T6 Physical Resistance
  • T5 Elemental Resistance

I have another exalted ring but it would be an even worse choice there even if the ring is useful right now:

  • T4 mana regen
  • T5 Freeze Rate Multiplier + Cold Resistance (I know it is bad)
  • T6 Elemental resistance
  • T5 Physical resistance

So it is either I go with the first ring OR I farm another one to go with my Ribbons of the Blood.

Honestly, except the crit chance, all 3 other affixes could be useful to keep. Having minion damage would be the best scenario (would be even better if it was a T6-T7 minion damage).

Nitpick: He is used in Flame Wraiths build and a couple of others. There you spec him in a very special and unusual way: He has to not move and not die. Then you drop him in some far away corner where there are no enemies, and plop your Dread Shade on him. The Dread Shade is also specced in an unusual way, such that it buffs every Minion outside its aura instead of inside. This means that as long as the Abom doesn’t die, your Shade is buffing your Minions across the entire map.

I generally agree, however i get some good use out of a +60 agro minion with lots of reflect damage. I use a perm abom made out of just 5 mages and he does his part. I can’t stand constantly summoning.

drop abom and play wraithlord (the real abomination of this patch)
you can get it to deal 1mill damage per hit with straight trash gear lol, 100% getting nerfed, so enjoy it while it lasts.
