Im running a chthonic fissure warlock with chaos bolts and sometimes my fps drops heavily.
Through monitoring with 3rd party apps, I was able to find out that both my GPU and CPU are barely being used to their full power when these drops happen. Weirdly enough, during the character selecting screen, the game uses around 70% of my GPU and 25% of CPU, while during monoliths, the game uses around 50% of my GPU and around 30% of CPU.
I have looked through forums here and tried some solutions offered by other users like adding launch commands on steam to use all threads and such. However, they didnt work.
Switching from Ultra to Low also barely affects the fps while reducing visual quality.
If someone can offer some insight on what might be happening or if Im missing something, please help me.
Let me know if I can share any more information needed to help solve this issue.
Having massive issues on some maps and with some enemy spells even though i usually have a steady 60(capped) fps during combat.
Noticably the Broken Bridge map dropped my frames to 3-7fps as soon as i did anything but standing still and task manager showed a baseline 97% GPU usage out of combat.
Changing any settings did not change GPU usage at all while being in the map.
Generally GPU load is quite high compared to other modern games and i regularly go up to 95%+ during combat ( but don’t experience frame dips).
Other than specific maps the enemies with the highest issue rate seem to be void based. Elder Gaspar’s attacks were especially atrocious and dripped mne to 1 fps when fighting him in the the last ruin timeline fight ( in the base story it didn’t happen). The harbinger had some dips as well.
It seems to get worse when the game has been running for a while, but it might be a separate issue, as it tends to happen with fire spells too after a few hours.
playstyle: allie’s time rot void knight. devouring orbs on autocast, keeping anomaly on cd and using smite on big enemies
Just for further comparison: fallen refuge map without any active skills but symbols of hope, no enemies or anything uses 50% of my GTX 4070TI, active void orbs rotating increases this to 75% which increases to 85% when moving around.
Normal enemy groups and profane flesh rares hardly change the usage if at all. a nemesis enemy shoots up the usage to 93%. Letting void enemies use charge shoots it up to 95+%
I’m experiencing extremely high fan speed and fps drops from 60 → 30. I’m not sure what is triggering this as some of the time I can play for a while at a steady 60fps. I have a brand new gaming laptop, 13th gen i7, RTX 4070 and my CPU and GPU are <60º and not being fully utilized. Oddly, whatever graphics settings I use have no effect on the FPS, very low / very high have the exact same performance. My computer is brand new and benchmarks just fine, which is making me confused as to how I’m getting these drops.
This clip was recorded on a high end PC (i9-14900K, RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB RAM). The game runs very smoothly at start (120fps+) but after some time, when you run in the map for a minute or so, this weird “lag” start. There is visible stutter, your character start to react very slowly, it is practically unplayable. (Please note the fps counter in the top left corner, sometimes it drops even to 15) It happens in both offline and online mode. The graphics quality doesn’t matter. This video was recorded on “very low” preset. When you change locations, everything resets to normal. Then, again after some time, everything happens again. It is especially visible in Graveyards of the Erased.
Both GPU and CPU are at ~20% load max. The video card is cool. The game takes only like 7GB of memory, so no memory leak.
I’m getting this same exact behavior. I did notice that the graveyards of the erased seemed to ‘start’ the performance degradation as I was running smooth 60fps before that, then slowly down to around 30-40. GPU and CPU also below 20% load and temps <60 degrees.
What doesnt make sense is that the game isnt fully utilizing both CPU and GPU to prevent these drops. Memory leak wasnt one of my issues, but apparently some other users were experiencing it. The leak was fixed last patch, but not the other fps drops.
Running maps on 50% hardware usage and getting 30 fps is insane when my gpu goes to 80% usage on the character selection screen.
