Glyph of Despair Critical Success is more like Critical Failure

This topic with 14 votes has already been closed so here I am. As the title says.

Not gonna lie, a bit salty here. And not sorry for being a bit harsh on my following statements. This has to change too.

After a week of trying to farm T7 Warpath on a body armor because I’m only getting T7 Lunge and T7 Multistrike for some reason (Oh I’ve lost count that I don’t even pick these up anymore). I’ve only seen 1, ONE. JUST ONE with T7 Warpath. And when I finally got one with T2 Mana prefix and tried to seal it. BAMMM. GREAT SUCCESS. Okay what about it’s T2 Void resistance suffix? BAMM 2x Critical Success!! Yes, THE GAME HAS SUCCESSFULLY RUINED THE ITEM. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

The original post I linked was way back LAST YEAR in April. It’s baffling this hasn’t even changed at all. What? Should I make a bug report on this too because it’s not doing its intended item purpose? EHG, you can’t say this is intentional or intended by design. Or maybe it’s a bug after all since it’s not doing its intended purpose? Just wow.

This isn’t even the start of it mate. Sooooo many little bugs and inconsistencies. I really enjoy the game but it has some fundamental polish issues.

Absolutely true. I stopped playing for several months after a few weeks during 1.0, and came back again just recently because of the event and after hearing 1.2 is still months away.

These small “annoying” things are fine if it was few, but sadly no. Even these are “small”, it gets frustrating if there’s a lot. I still don’t acknowledge LE as a “ready” product for 1.0. So much needs polishing and there are some issues they’ve fixed before and it’s somehow back (well, like always…)

Surprised nobody else complain about this issue tho since that last closed thread. I guess also due to drop in player count recently.

I never noticed it before. Probably i don’t play enough to encounter it, but i upvote it anyway. Described behaviour is really counter-intuitive.

On a somewhat related note, I am not happy with how the game relies on RNG in way too many aspects.
It being an ARPG, it’s expected to have a big thick layer of RNG, but there also needs to be a balance between stupidly random chances for success and fail, and actually rewarding dedication and hard work.

For example, there could be 2 versions of Temporal Sanctum - one, you just run straight to boss and to Infinity Cache, and you are left at the mercy of RNG.
Second, you have to clear the whole dungeon from start to finish, which will increase your chances (or guarantee it) to slam the highest tier affixes to the unique you are crafting.

yea it’s like double or triple RNG. RNG to get the Exalted Drops then pray to god you get the rolls you want on Julia. Nobody does this dungeon outside of it and likely 2+ LP.

I am also noticing that it is incredibly rare to roll maxes on implicits.
For example, if something is between the range 10% and 20%, it is very rare to see it at 20%. It almost feels like the RNG is not 1 out of 10, but is rather 1 out of 9 for the 10%-19%, and then there’s an additional 1 out of 100 for the chance to roll 20%.

I remember something in patch notes some time ago about them fixing that. It also applied to lowest value on rolls. Both min and max should be now normally available.

This is exactly the reason why my other friend stopped playing the game. The amount of RNG this game has is insane. I don’t know how it is compared to PoE or other ARPGs though even I kinda heard before that it’s much worse in PoE and LE has “more control” over the affixes you want.

Below is just me ranting, you can ignore this part:

Why can’t these runes at least are guaranteed to do exactly what it wants. Just in crafting alone has so much RNG in it:

  1. RNG on affixes
  2. RNG on affix tier rolls
  3. RNG on base item stat rolls (implicits)
  4. RNG on crafting potential (although the current process is much better than the old one back before “crafting potential” was introduced)
  5. RNG on some rune/glyph usage.
  6. RNG for that stupid Glyph of Despair not doing its job properly.
  7. RNG if you want some other stats to remain unupgraded–For example, you’re upgrading your prefix and want the suffix on the item to remain T1-T2 so you can “seal” it, but critical success can upgrade that said suffix to T3 making it harder for Glyph of Despair to seal it due to being higher tier.

This alone is probably would’ve been fine if it was gonna be the “final” item step. But no, there’s LP slamming, which could’ve also ruin everything you’ve done on the fodder. And ofc, you would want a “good” rolls on the unique you want. Got a 4LP item? is the stat roll good? should you celebrate? On 3LP unique, instead of “please be lucky”, it’s more like “please don’t be unlucky”.

Even if you’re not gonna use uniques and LP, there’s also the RNG to get the stats you want on the “right” item base which is also another layer of RNG. I’ve been farming for a week now to get some helm I need and some armor with T7 affix I need and I’ve only seen it drop 2-3 times and it was ruined during the crafting process making it almost unusable. I haven’t even got to Legendary Potential slamming yet.

I know some people might disagree with me on this but this is just how I feel about the game right now. Could we at least get more “sure” way to get the item we want? Heck even just looking at the prophecy window and rerolling is already too much RNG and there’s not even a gameplay included here yet.

I do hope that they would introduce more system/mechanics that will reduce these thick layer of RNG somehow. Maybe a new crafting feature where you can put some special rare item to prevent/guarantee whatever you’re trying to do with it. Sorry I went in a rant spree. I still do enjoy the game.

Oh I feel you. I burned 60+ crafting potential on an item trying to roll the implicit and it never went above half. And pretty much all the item I pick up has some terrible implicit rolls in it. 15-130% roll? Game be like “here’s 20%, take it or leave it”. Everyday I do notice this.

I really hope this is true. But as I mentioned above, it doesn’t feel like it. But ofc, “RNG”, right??

Oh I feel you, I really do.
I am nowhere near the endgame and 3-4 Legendary Potential crafting, but I am also really annoyed by the crafting system, so much so that I am not even using most of the glyphs and runes.

Glyph of Hope for example states that it has a 25% chance to not lose Forging Potential. It definitely does not feel like 1 out of 4 times.
Glyph of Despair, I hate this one with passion. It doesn’t work like 90% of the times. It is useless.
Rune of Refinement, Rune of Removal, Rune of Shaping, these I literally never use, because they are utter unpredictable sh**!

I have literally hundreds of the most common runes and glyphs, and it doesn’t feel like an achievement or something, because most of the time I am afraid to use most of them, since the forging potential loss is YET ANOTHER RNG, because one time you lose 1 Forging Potential, but the next time you lose F**KING 20 FORGING POTENTIAL!!!

Well, apparently, this was a thing that was supposed to have been fixed with the event/reset Patch. Would be a shame if this issue still persists.

Every. Damn. Time.
Current crafting system is probably fine. It just needs to be less reliant to RNG. Or at least increase the chances of pretty much all stuff about it.
