FPS incredibly unstable after 1.0 patch

I’m still having this issue with huge dips in FPS when playing in monoliths even after the patch. its gotten so low that the game actually freezes and studders during any sized pulls

Can confirm since the last two patches and my last comment on this thread (look for it to see my specs), played at the settings I was previously at (high for everything and grass foliage at full), experienced fps drops, changed all settings to very low, experienced the same fps drops to the same degree (playing on v-synch fps went from 60-55 to 45-20). Clearly there’s an issue with the game on the developers part as even D4 and POE have never been this slow for me and I can play POE on max setting and D4 at high to very high. Hope this gets fixed

Ryzen 7 5800x3d
Msi Rtx 3090 Ventus 3x Oc
Corsair Dominator 2x 16gb (32gb)
Only Ssd

Normaly on everything maxed out 170-250fps on 1440p

Monoliths drop the fps some times to 2-10 Fps

Really annoying

A friend had the same issue with r9 7950x3d and a 4070 ti super at 64gb

Whats wrong here ?

I played the game on three different setups , 2 gaming laptops (which i thought might be to blame, even tho they’re pretty beefy) and the best setup from GeForce NOW and in monos i have terrible fps drops even with everything set on low. Any admins tend to give a response to this matter ?

Have started getting the same performance problems now that I’m running empowered monoliths. My performance absolutely tanks when I proc my skills in big packs.

But pretty much all those problems go away if I press DEL and get rid of the UI. So there’s something odd going on there. UI on, get dips to 10-20 FPS, UI off and it stays at around 115FPS at worst from what I’ve seen.

I’m running with everything on low on a 4090 and 7800X3D, problem still persists.

Game is UNPLAYABLE with those stutters and fps drops.
I’ve been getting them even in the beta, but they were more bearable, but now it’s insane.

GPU: RTX 4090
CPU: Ryzen 5800x3D
RAM: 32GB @ 3600 MHz
SSD drive

I’m playing on 1440p monitor / 27" @ 170 Hz getting around 150 fps on Ultra, but sometimes during fights (and not only, but mostly noticeable then) I get drops to sub 10 fps, even 1-2 fps at times.

All of this is POST the “memory leak” patch.

Same issue here. Can confirm for a friend which i play with too. Yesterday we killed first boss in first empowered mono. My pc almost exploded on his death, when all the items suddenly appeared. My fps was like -100 at that moment and its not a potato pc… Also, when I mouseover an item, in inventory or on ground, the game goes crazy. The fps drops to low 20… The same with big amount of mobs on the screen, spells procing etc… Changing graphical settings has little to no effect on this issue. The game is like this in both, 1920 x 1080p and 3440 x 1440p.

This needs to be addressed asap as its really frustrating and preventing me from enyoing the game.

Spec: R5 5600 RX6650XT 32GB RAM

So weird, just tried playing with and without the UI showing by pressing DEL and I can see that the FPS doesnt drop much at all in comparison to when UI is showing. Think this might be a part of the cause of FPS drop but not the only culprit

I can also confirm that toggling the UI does significantly improve the FPS problem. I also seem to get improvement disabling loot filter, so maybe the problem could lie in what the loot filter has to process before drops happen?? Either way, it is very frustrating to die because FPS drops to approx 30 FPS. Hope they release fix soon…

Game becoming fking unplayable on high empowered monos. Drops to 20-30 fps on big packs when spamming skills. Also when big drop is about to appear. Regardless of gfx settings. My PC is very high-end (4090). Why tf they decided to release such hot garbage is beyond my understanding.

since this post has the most responses, i will leave this here; i hope it helps

verify the game files on steam
change graphics quality using the “master quality” and select:
very low or high
vertical sync: off
don’t limit the fps in game

GAMEPLAY

damage numbers: off;
hp bar over enemies: off;
hp over minions: off;
auto-compare items: off;
length of item names to: short;

and at the nvidia control panel add the game on the list and change:

vertical sync to: fast
max framerate to: 59
low latency mode: ultra
restart the game after 3-4 hours

Test the game in directx 11 first and if still feels bad try on directx 12

on steam right click the game, and in properties add this to launch options:
-force-d3d12

Control Panel

if you are a really smart and wants to try new settings i recommend intel PresentMon to use the GPU Busy and Frame Time stat and find better settings in game
Intel® PresentMon

Can confirm that it’s the UI. Pressing DEL while playing, it’s night and day.

Idk what they did with the latest patch 1.0.2 but it has made the framerate incredibly unstable for me, I’ve been having huge framerate drops down to single digits where as before it was relatively stable… I hate that new patch has effectively broke the game for me.

I am gonna pause this game till they fix this Problems.
Yesterday i became really bad Freezes too.
I got a new System and i am a little scared that this will F-Up my hardware :sweat_smile:

Same here. I can play every AAA game i have in full graphic settings, but 2 or 3 days ago a start to experiece this FPS drops in LE. Today its imposible to play in monos. Unfortunately the game is unplayble at the moment :disappointed:.

The patch did indeed do something to the performance: it made it worse. Playing smoothly is now the rare exception.
To me, it looks like this is a problem they cannot fix at all, thinking about how the performance issues exist since the Early Access version got released. This also somewhat explains why EHG is not addressing or at least acknowledging this issue at all.

I hope i’m wrong.

Makes no difference, dropping the same to 20 fps while cpu and gpu aren‘t maxed out anyway.

New patch made it even worse somehow, congrats to devs, game is now literally unplayable.

Same issue here. For me, though I haven’t tried hiding the UI or adjusting my loot filter yet, it seems to be tied to specific areas. Like I’ll get locked 60fps in town. Leave out west door. Get 15-20fps, go back get 60fps, back out door 15-20fps, back in town 60fps, go out east door instead get locked 60fps. I’m not even at monoliths yet.

RTX 3070
16gigs ram
M.2 1tb
i9 10850k

damn. You got me paranoid now. They almost never addressed performance issues that’s true. Maybe the performance optimization is so rooted in the core code that it would take such a big effort to fix or something like that I’m no expert. I hope you’re wrong too

Since the last patches, my fps has been extremely unstable on steam deck.
Prior to patch I’d be around 40ish average with some dips down to 30s… after the patches I get drops below 24 in some areas without ever going above 24.
