What does “seasonal ingame event” entail?
Regarding “what kind of streams?” question:
Only speaking for myself, I think pre-recorded videos on youtube like GGG do are the best. A full expansion or season? Maybe 15-30 min of staff presenting new features with gameplay video matching what they are discussing. What isn’t great is the way Blizzard or Bungie do it: live or recorded stream of a bunch of awkward people sitting around, spending a long time introducing themselves, making inside jokes, and speaking on camera with no gameplay video to reinforce what they are discussing, or worse a small third of the screen showing someone playing live. I want to watch to learn about new features, fixes, buffs/nerfs. If you made a video for every season or large patch, it would remind me to hop back on. Another good example is Lords of the Fallen patch update videos (2.0 onward): explains new exciting features or fixes, shows you what it looks like, thanks you for watching.
same here, look for ways to keep your game running without making yourselves liers… also i am 100% sure that the class selling is going to be a huge down for LE
I would actually like to see a rotating mix of all of these choices (maybe 1-2) each season. If you do the same thing over and over it get’s stale. Mixing up in-game events every season would keep things feeling new.
Other comments…
I actually enjoy this game, even with all it’s warts. I really love a lot of the Dev’s ideas and how the classes, skills and ascendencies are handled. Your crafting and in-game loot filters are top bar.
I would like to see better bank functionality as far as tab icons (need Bow and Quiver icons seasons ago!), colors, etc.
I wouldn’t mind paying for a few special bank pages or a way to make our mono main area feel like our own hideout. I would still play even if you decide to go the DLC route, as long as the content is good and not required to play the main game.
The areas that really need work are on marketing, community outreach and in-game bugs. I personally don’t mind if seasonal content takes a bit longer than other games as long as it is quality and engaging.
what i prefer is something along your line. where you say finish the game i say improve it.
all talk about “what do the CURRENT PLAYERS want in the game” is preaching to the choir. the current players didnt support the devs enough yet the devs still want to cater to them? the game needs to appeal to more people.
if they want to appeal to the current crowd, well… they certainly can. and that number wont grow enough. and would the current crowd actually give them their money now? so many doomers have already left the game.
I really think yall need to shift your art style to big anime titties. If that game with the horse girls can make money with no gameplay, anyone can do it. I think if you make enough quality anime girl MTXs, you can make the new class free and make Papa Krafton happy. It’s time to sell out for the future of the EPOCH. Dont make this the last epoch. Also tutorials would be cool because, I don’t have a college degree in Last Epoch and some of your advanced systems are extremely convoluted.
Want to see Ultas! The most effective builds are 1-click and single-MO - you run around hitting all the same; no damage bursts and no impressive nice-looking epic mega-Ultimate attacks. Let them be on a cooldown, let them be high-price - but smash godly, either almost killing half screen, or deal lot of damage in a small area, or boost and highlight your attacks - D3 is a perfect example
Also what we need - more dangerous enemies like Elite Packs in D3 - you’re seeking for them cause you know they carry valuables; in LE you cannot tell elites from trash until you see there health drop slower - but still they’re no difference reward-wise. Yes we have Champions which is great, but that’s more a late-game thing. Let elites drop some guaranteed runes or shards or glyphs or whatever; be distinguishable; hit hard specific attacks; - you need to feel a successful hunt! Not just vacuum echo after echo - the echoes themselves should feel fun!
Also - poor RuneMaster. So much invocations and kinda useless, needs rework. Never seen a build that uses anything besides the mega-shield or Hydragedron.
Also - no pets for a Mage? Why. Let’s add Elementals - they can kick, they can buff, they can add ward - anything. Even can make them auto-summoned by some trigger (apply 25 shocks or smth) or summon directly; can add for just one ascendance, but need some pets for Mage
Besides Ultas we need effective buff skills, not much of them now.
And noone knows LE Lore! Even ChatGPT struggles to find much information. Need to have a shorter version explained, and tighten the new seasons/expansions to it, lore is important; it adds sense to meaningless slashing
I’ve personally been very anti-wiki, instead preferring us to build our own internal in-game guide and resources. So this comment actually strikes me - if AI becomes more prevalent for answers: having that information in external sources becomes more relevant. I can’t say what changes this may bring, but simply to state that this is a unique perspective I hadn’t previously considered. Thank you for bringing this point forth.
That’s kinda reasonable, but getting stuff into the game is very slow, updating a wiki is relatively quick & you can generally go deeper into explaining the mechanics (as they do on the PoE wiki).
Some better introduction to mechanics wouls be going a long way for me. Dont know what Némésis is ? First Time you enconter it Forgotten knight appears and explains it to you/ introduces the Harbingers quest line. Would structure the game a lot better for new players imo
As a studio, you don’t need to do giveaways. Make good quality seasonal content on a set cadence. You desperately need to add seasonal rewards, just not the same boring brown armour set like GGG have every season in Path of Exile. Seasonal rewards give people goals which are needed in an ARPG. Not everyone is going to want to bother with Uber bosses.
Sorry for the confusion: I don’t think we’ve ever done anything to prevent or slow down the community from creating a wiki, and have rather supported third party tools. I only speak to the investment of our own internal resources and time, If the community wants to build a wiki, we’d absolutely support that.
We should have a seasonal reset ladder race every month
I disagree, too many resets makes competition meaningless. If a ladder reset happens every month, there’s no feeling of accomplishment in achieving top rank. Most players and some of the best only play at a season start. After a few weeks tumbleweeds roll accross Etera unfortunatly.
However there certainly needs to be more types of ladders of both types “race” and “continues”. Especially for the HC race to Uber Abberoth kill.
First endgame needs a lot of work. Monoliths just get boring. Kill stuff, look if loot filter shows any items. Hate to say it but need content like poe leagues. Sort of mini games and events. Also more endgame bosses and dungeons that actually drop something like chase items.
Second itemization needs some work. Need to add more things every now and then that further add to your characters power. Similar to how poe added jewels you put in the skill tree, cluster jewels, ascendancies, even things like rune words from D2 or sockets in Items that you can insert things into. Gear gets boring fast when its just base stats like resists, health, strength. Add some affixes that make for more complex builds like things that proc on hit,. or offer some base skills like an aura if item is equipped.
Thirdly you need to keep doing balance passes on skills. Specifically on the skill trees of skills because there are a lot of useless skills in the game and most skills are specced the same way because their individual skill trees are a mess; and there is only one spec in that sub tree that synergizes well with it self or other skills.
One random idea I had reading this thread: have you considered doing paid events?
Something quick, cheap, and fun. Once a month or something.
Like: £2 (or$, or €), enter a 48 hours Eterra invaded by giant and aggressive cousins of the loot lizards. Win special lizard-themed cosmetics or shiny trophies or a special Steam achievement (nothing ingame kept after the event of course, we don’t want the dreaded P2W tag).
Or participate in a weekend-long world raid against a giant, void infused Mike. Or a scary Santa, with random evil reindeers roaming Eterra.
Anything silly and entertaining, really, with a fresh start and for one weekend only.
Could be a nice little side earning for the company at low development cost?
I am sure many people wouldn’t mind paying £2 for a weekend of fun. I wouldn’t.
I don’t think this would go down well with the community. It would be the expansion outrage all over again.
But I would like to see another version of this. More events like the with Uprising mobs but more tuned for experimental stuff that EHG aren’t sure about.
PoE does this with their seasons. They test the mechanic in a glorified way and then either add it to the base game, change it and add it or cut it.
I’m pretty sure it’s beyond the scope of what is asked in this thread or what EHG can realistically deliver but we are talking about ideas and whishes. So instead of paid “random fun content” on a weekend, I would like to see once-a-month opt-in “we are testing possible new content and stuff is going to break” weekends.
This also has issues like setting players up for the wrong expectations but it will help the company in the long run (more data on future content and development because free alpha testers) and the players get a little bit of variety.
First of all Thank You for all you’ve done so far! I’m one of the few who like the game and look forward to seeing the direction its going and what it brings.
I only have a few game ideas on the Shaman class to offer but i hope they give you inspiration to make shaman greater when you can.
Right now I play a melee shaman and cast earthquake, I use frenzy totem but no other totems. I would love to see more totems and totem interaction with skills and elements. Like a water totem that could deal cold damage and chill/freeze or turn to fire and spew a river of flames, or an Earth totem that blinded with dust and had rocks or boulders rain from the sky. Also I feel the 5th skill in the shaman tree should be a totem. If those options don’t sound strong enough was thinking of a op totem that could cast when and what you cast when you cast it.
Also would like a rework of tornado so it can pick up totems and gain there elements and carry them with them, and would be nice if tornado had synergy with malestorm for more build options. Maybe instead of malestorm tsunami it releases tornados?
Just some thoughts to improve shaman. Only crazy never before done thing i can think of is shapeshifting into a totem and having totem minions following you (that would be impressive) and you could give it an op ability like totems cast when you do.
Have a great holiday and can’t wait to hear back about this survey.
Much love from a big fan!
Looking forward to some more content here! Let’s see what EHG can cook up in the lab.
