Obviously this patch is the smallest of the patches we got over the last 2 years. I don’t think there’s much to argue about if you look at it objectively.
There was much more content in each of the recent patches then now is in 0.8.5.
This is 100% because of MP eating lots of resources although the team is also growing.
People that have a few hundred or even thousands of hours in LE and are waiting for new content to burn through might get a bit disappointed by the not so big amount of new “playable” content. New items, item type reworks, skins and sounds is not new content. It’s nice but won’t add hundreds of hours of excitement for vets of LE. It’s polishing the game towards 1.0.
We just have to see that this is not PoE where we are in a state where every new patch brings new league mechanics and stuff. LE isn’t in that stage. The last few patches made it look like this was already the case, but in fact it isn’t. EHG is still designing core elements and mechanics. They are still building the foundation for LE.
It’s nice that we already have regular a 3 month patch cycle for a game in EA. This is not the norm. It could also be that we don’t get an update for half a year and then it’s just a dungeon and some QoL stuff.
When EHG has to rework a lot of the actual mechanics to work in the online environment properly, there’s not that much room for creating new stuff. Maybe it’s even more effective to wait with the implementation of new skills until MP is released, to not have to rework it again. This might be the reason why we don’t see new masteries until MP. Who knows.
This patch is smaller not because EHG has become lazy. It’s because they are working on different aspects of the game that eat their resources. Some things are easier/faster to create, some others are more complex and take more time.
Future patches might also be smaller. I personally appreciate that EHG still does the 3 month cycle, even if it means varying amount of content because of [reasons].
I agree, I have made my comment since i spent a lot of hours, and waited for 3 months for this patch and simply nothing is drawing me back except for those 2 dungeons which really is not enough, there are no new builds to try, no chase items to chase, no new vfx of skills to enjoy etc…so yeah i understand why this patch is small but to not add any new skill and to add only 8 uniques and no imporvements on sets to be chase items as well after 3 months tha pissed me off hahaha that i have to wait for another 3 and so months which i dont believe will be any different since they are focusing on MP
To be fair, they said that they acknowledge Set Items being in a tough spot currently and that they will look at them at a later point.
You also don’t know if there are no new builds or chase item.
Just among the 8 new uniques ,there might be some build enabling and/or chase items.
Plus we will receive more uniques over the following small patches as well.
Some of the small changes and bug fixes might also enable “new builds”
yes that is correct, what i wanted to say is there are no obvious new builds couse there are no new skills, maybe only with that dragon bow there is one build. As for the sets i understand and u have a point there, I was just so sure it will be done this patch without have to wait for another 3 and so months
EDITED: but this are brad crumbs, at least one new skill would be enough
Why did that piss you off? Are you in a hurry? If you currently don’t enjoy the game why don’t you play/do something else and come back when the game got way more content updates?
I prefer waiting a little longer on games/updates and have a quality experience over burned out, tired, stressed developers due to constant crunch time and therefore less quality work and an inferior product.
I mean it make sense for people to be more emotional since expectation has been very high due to to amazing recent patches. Then, patch 0.8.5 has been hyped up more by the change in marketing. When the patch note came out, the content is not up to everyone’s taste which is subjective. So, just take it in stride rather than questioning people’s reaction.
No, it just means there is a lack of variety, or other defensive options those characters can use. Nerfing isn’t always the solution… adding other choices is usually better. The item wasn’t game-changing OP, it was just the best option available right now. Nerfing it just means many builds basically just lost their viable defensive option(s), without getting anything in return.
