You'll think it's stupid, but I quit because I gave up trying to get an Omnis

It’s a rare drop by itself.

And yes, it’s fairly nonsensical to say it’s a quitting reason, the roll-range of that thing is so high that getting a useful one is already massive, like saying ‘I quit because I didn’t get a Ventor’s Gamble’ in Path of Exile.

Makes no sense. It’s a self-made frustration to strife to get one swiftly rather then over tens of hours of investment.

Omnis have a 15% drop chance. Killing 16 200+ shades and not getting one is has a 3% chance. So well within the realm of normal random distribution that it will happen to a fair number of players.

In addition to the 200+ corruption requirement, you need to also kill a Shade of Orobyss that’s far from the center of the timeline for a chance to get an Omni.

Make sure you’re killing a Shade of Orobyss with a high corruption roll, preferably +12 and higher, which appear the further out from the center of the timeline you are. The further the Shade of Orobyss echo is from the center of the timeline the higher chance it has for dropping its most rare uniques, with Omni being the most rare of the bunch.

If you’re killing the first Shade of Orobyss that spawns then you’re unlikely venturing far enough out for an Omni to even drop. The furthest Shade of Orobyss will offer +18 corruption, but these rarely spawn so +12, +14, and +16 Shade of Orobyss echoes are all great options for your best chance to receive an Omni.

good info. i will delve deeper and look for the +16 shades

It’s not like I said “I can’t get this one item, so I quit.” I just got burned out trying to get one and lost interest.

You only specified that you killed Shade X number of times with no additional info.

While it might be a frustrating/vent post, you posted it as Feedback and Suggestions.
But with the information you provided we can’t really tell you much, but there are a lot of factors that go into these drops.

As I just explained in this post:

3 in 100 is a fair number of players? I… what?

I don’t know why we aren’t saying, “Dude, you got RNG-fucked. Sorry it broke your spirit. Definitely step away. Maybe come back another season, it’s a good game.”

I just don’t understand what is hard about compassion. Sorry DJ, I’m not meaning to single you out. Maybe I’m not understanding the percentages here.

How is 15% rare? I’m definitely not getting something here. That being the case, just ignore me.

I only tried to put the numbers in perspective. It was not about compassion or the lack of it.
And yes, 3 in 100 is a fair number of players. If you take a baseline of 50k players, it will happen to 1.5k players, on average.

And yes, it sucks when you’re at the low end of RNG, but in this case I just meant to show that it’s not a problem with the drop rate irself of the system, it was just bad luck.

That’s what we’re saying in different words.
So to make it clear:

You got RNG fucked :stuck_out_tongue:

Here you go!

Because if you have 5 items it should relate to 20% per item.
Syphon of Anguish has a 83,3% chance.
Stymied Fate has a 16,67% chance to drop.

That’s the ‘normal’ drop-table.

Then we have the other ones which include ‘Apathy’s Maw’, 25% base chance at 50+ corruption.
Shattered Chains with a 15% chance starting with 120 corruption.
Omnis, also 15%.

Now we have to look at the declaration, likely code-wise we have the following:

Base loot-table which is Syphon and Stymied, 100% to get one.
Rare loot-table which is building up on each other if I remember right (could be entirely wrong).

Since ‘Omnis’ is declared as ‘very rare’ and unless I’ve missed any changes to the drop-rate that should align.

Which means a 25% chance for an axe, then a 15% chance for that 25% chance to get the belt and then a 15% chance for that 15% chance to be a omnis.

Which leaves us with a rough base chance of around 1-2% drop-rate per shade at 200+ corruption.

You can increase that by killing shades which give higher corruption as well as the corruption level itself, the higher the better.

Thank you both. And especially thank you for this;

I mean, it helps. (I think)

And %Inc. Item rarity from enemy modifiers.

He needs it for his build and having this item will bring him joy making him want to keep playing. If you don’t get the item why keep going? Seriously. It’s a game where the gear is the core part of it. You want to complete builds and make new ones. If you can’t complete the builds why make new ones?

An extreme majority of players that quit are players who didn’t get the item they needed after a period of time. So there is no reason to continue.

The last time I quit Last Epoch was when I bricked another 3LP item in the forge. I said well I’m done that’s the final straw. I wanted to play this build but I can’t. Alt F4.

Wasting blessings on resist in many builds where their main stats can’t be chosen feels bad. The only good resist blessing is ALL resist but also there aren’t other great choices there either.

No, I think you missed the point of my reply … He doesn’t “need it” that’s what I’m saying … There are no unique effects on this item, therefore no build “needs it.” All of it’s effects can be gained from other sources. There are some items in the game with unique effects, like tears of the forest for example, it can actually be integral to a spriggan build because it regens rage from summoned vines, that can be game changing. Omnis just gives a bunch of generic effects, conveniently in one place.

He wants Omnis, and that’s ok. But I don’t think this item makes or breaks any particular build.

I think you missed the point of my reply… Telling someone that they don’t need the item is wrong. You are wrong for saying that to someone. It’s not a solution and doesn’t fix anything. They still feel bad because they can’t get the item they need then feel worse because now you are ignoring that.

Again most players quit RPGs when they can’t attain the gear they need for ideas they want to explore. If the gear/items feel unattainble there is no point in playing.

If someone needs a 3LP Legendary for their build then they actually do NEED that item. Same goes for any other item. When you don’t get it you will lose interest in logging back in and quit.

Just to respond to this even though it’s not relevant.

Maybe they can’t get it from other sources! So they need it from Omni’s and you have the + skills. There are some builds that can’t get Resist blessing and can’t get Resist on gear in many slots. So Omni’s is perfect for Resist capping. This will allow better affix and blessing choices for their build while also having +skill.

So you are wrong in both instances.

Nah, the point wasn’t missed. It was subverted with a reasonably argument.

The argument being that ‘want’ supersedes ‘need’, it’s higher hierarchically for video games.
You play video games to not make compromises you would commonly have to do in reality as things are impossible to achieve. This doesn’t mean it needs no effort, just that the effort to achieve the baseline of it should be respectively lower then if you’re actually trying to achieve something in society.

Games can come in 2 specific variants, one is ‘learning enhancing’ and one is pure ‘fun’.
Clearly we’re not in any sort of learning environment in LE… hence it’s the ‘fun’ category.

And the ‘fun’ category demand a game to provide a fitting experience for the respective type of player you wanna get into the game. LE also markets itself very clearly as ‘more intensive then Diablo’ but ‘less intensive then PoE’.
That’s what the devs have to work with. It’s the core audience they wanna pull in… so, outside of very rare exceptions to traverse players over to another category the whole game needs to align with it.
This means core itemization, core progression, core complexity.

Things like Lagon, the jump from monoliths to empowered monoliths, end-game item hunting and some others don’t align with the core audience. Which is bad, very… very bad.

Shade is clearly placed into the core progression aspect of the game (as it’s the main measure for corruption) and hence should drop the rewards accordingly. Which Omnis doesn’t align with. Also bad.
Same with timeline bosses and their very rare item variants. Badly positioned.

Which is no deal-breaker for the short-term, but it is if it’s a persistent thing in the game. Common progression and hard to acquire ‘chase’ content need to be distinct from each other. A ‘cohesive’ experience it’s called.

That was discerns LE from the large competitors Diablo 3 and Path of Exile currently still. Those are both ‘cohesive’.

Diablo 3 is very casual, time-investment is not huge, optimization can get quite far but doesn’t provide you much. It leads to many people flooding in and playing for a shorter timeframe. Functional system for a box-priced game definitely. Many sales.

Path of Exile on the contrary laughs at you if you’re not a ‘sweatlord’. It makes it abundantly clear that you won’t get your prize unless you ‘invest’ into it. So you do… or you leave. That’s why in PoE the general retention time is higher, but core audience smaller. The growth relates over longer periods of time compared to the massive peaks of Diablo 3 which taper off quickly. People stay. Which is fantastic for a F2P game with vanity transactions in masses! Because you play long you’re open to paying a lot of money over time, more then any full-priced game even, regularly so.

Last Epoch? Box-priced game, few transactions possible… piss-easy campaign, sudden spike in difficulty after monoliths, uneven campaign difficulty. Extreme long-term item hunt, middling complexity for crafting, skills and passives. Low complexity for item variance. It’s all over the place, the game provides no ‘cohesion’ and hence so many people complain.

So since that all happens and the easier parts are front-loaded entirely (to a ridiculous amount) it leads to people becoming unhappy when that methodology is not followed through. It diverts, it promises you ‘a’ and then shifts to ‘b’ instead. That feels like shit. And if you point it out you’re generally right about it feeling shit. Because it is. It’s a mistake in design.

So expecting a Omnis in a reasonable amount of time after everything else in the game before has been acquired vastly easier is to be expected, same with every other very rare unique. You expect them to drop more often. You expect exalted items advancing your build more often. But it doesn’t happen. You’re hence deprived of the ‘fun’ that the game gave you before by giving those successes out in the pace you’ve looked for and you’ve adjusted to.

So it’s utterly reasonably to say ‘give me an omnis vastly earlier’ or ‘give me higher LP items’ or ‘give me better items’ because that’s to be expected after all.
So EHG either needs to adjust early game to change this perception so players ‘expect’ to invest more effort or they need to make the game after the campaign more rewarding overall. One of them, their choice, different playerbase. Neither though is a lose-lose option.

Doesn’t matter.

In their respective expected timeframe. Which LE does a bad job in properly conveying up-front.

I’m not sure you’re really in the position to be telling someone that they’re wrong for telling someone else that they don’t need a thing. But you’ve blocked me because you can’t cope with people who disagree.

You can.

Not necessarily.

Then clearly they are bad builds.

Hrmm… I’ll argue setting up a shade versus setting up Aberroth can be a hassle, but good argument :stuck_out_tongue: Especially since it provides a +2.

Quite. Plus for the uber-skilled like Abom, that should be trivial so the +2 trumps +1 any day. I’m surprised he didn’t know about it, even I did & I’ve not done Aberroth.

To be fair the roll-range of omnis promises a potential higher outcome for the resistances, which could - theoretically - be a better total end-result since it can open Affixes otherwise.

Also the evade downside can be deadly while the mana is often a dead stat for builds.
The implicits, armor, skills and all-res on it though? Ridiculously strong.

A strong contender which depends on the build if it’s better or worse though.

ok now this has got me giggling. If you’re still here, then you did not really quit. wth
