I agree, they do need to hype it more and definitely do the podcast tour!
Personally, I think Last Epoch will be fine. As a reminder, the developers are still hiring and organizing people after the recent purchase. Finding professionals is very difficult task. There isnae point in burying the game ahead of time.
Probably because the viewer pool to pull from isnât there. Outside of the established channels what have a dedicated avg viewers, LE (imo) isnât a popular game for streamer viewers. Most of the viewers when this game is at peak player/streamer/viewer population is not directly from LE popularity but from a popular streamer bringing their established viewers into the LE twitch channel. Even if there is a streamer who is the best of the best at community engagement/creating content and most importantly LE knowledge and âskillâ it doesnât matter if next to no one is watching. Like take popular streamer (x) and ask your self do they have 2,000 viewers because they playing LE or do they have 2,000 viewers because they slogged it out or lucked out and established a viewer base that follows them.
So long story short the lack of streamers comes from a lack of viewers. Or a reason to watch le content. And the majority of peak twitch viewers comes from the established streamer and not the âstate of LEâ
So theyâre burning through their cash faster (more staff) & probably have less income (fewer players â lower pack sales in general) & you think thatâs a good thing? As an accountant, whether theyâll survive depends how long it takes them to turn things around & have more players per season rather than less, more pack sales & whether their stockpile of cash can last them until they start turning a profit (cash left over after accounting for all of their costs).
+1 for hype.
They need to utilise streamers/content creator type people. I noticed in this last few weeks playing Poe2 for the first time in a year when I was searching builds/info there are dudes on YT with 400k+ followers, like multiple ones and then that KriptâŚsomethingian has close to 1 million people. Itâs crazy! That ziza guy posted really good feed back on the game early into the league, stuff like that carries huge weight. LE doesnât have the same amount but just guys like ActionRPG who has 100k or so now, man they should be talking to those guys like a LOT. When your season launch hits 44k a guy who has an audience of 100k people even if it might not be all LE players thatâs someone you should value and ask for help. Also others and reach out to those Poe2 guys I saw older vids where they did try LE back in the day. Ask them again. Donât be too proud or out right stupid.
The other thing Iâve noticed is bug fixing speed and priority seems to be much higher. Just as much or more shit breaks but the patching seems to be more frequent and much larger for a season start. I recall things like the wolf/trex bug that went on for god knows how long in S3. They also mention whats going to be looked at/fixed in the upcoming patches, you know âcommunicationâ.
No comparisions being made just simply stating a few things they really should be doing.
Reaching out for a larger audience
Prioritise bug fixes. Sick of the stuff thats been here since before I started a year and a half ago.
I believe as far as patches/bug fixes go this season is done and nothing new unless itâs game braking bad and of a high enough complaint volume to make it worth addressing.
I donât think EHG will ever listen to us customers to be honest.. Look at the way the game is now..
Yeah man thats the thing âits doneâ is bullshit. They have bugs in the game still present from before my time.
Some examples - friends list/party chat. Itâs still there and persists and happens every single day at some point in a party youâll suddenly have someone who cant speak/see any party chat. Swap to global and itâs fine. The fix? Departy, log off and log in.
Second example - dungeons with a mate - kill the boss, finish sanctum or arbor, port to spawn, enter key âfailed to start instanceâ âdungeon in useâ
Persistant bugs reported by god knows how many over the years. No fix in sight. No communication.
You do not stop fixing bugs. These guys donât care if itâs game breaking or not and youâre not going to get âhigh volumeâ from a game that just the other night had 600 players online. SIX HUNDRED.
The amount of bugs I have reported and havenât been fixed is insane. Still no fix for the implicit on the razor fall move speed adding to haste and I put that one in (so did few others) day 2-3 of the league mate.
Sadly the bug fixing in this game⌠I donât know if its the team or 1 dude named Frank doing it but itâs terrible. Absolutely horrible. The bugs that have hindered peoples builds Iâve seen this season and stopped progression of that character that just seem to be ignored.
You post in here - no acknowledgement EVER - not even a dev ânotedâ
You post in discord âpress f8 and use in game to report itâ you do this and it says sent and poof you never hear about it again, ever.
Post a bug on reddit for poe2 - some random mod replies âwere aware of this and are working on itâ - 2 days later updated âhi just to update everyone we have an internal fix for this and are waiting to roll it outâ 1 day later - patched.
Bugs are right up there with lack of content in this game.
This is actually normal when youâre working on multiple versions of the code. Thereâs the version everyoneâs running and thereâs the version theyâre already working on for next season. And likely also the version for the season after that.
That means that, at a certain point, itâs harder to add bug fixes to the current version because your next season version is already very different and requires testing even more. Itâs easier to just add the fixes to that version and players will get them next season.
If you look at GGGâs patterns youâll see the same thing. In the last month or two before the season the patches stop coming as well, or you get just small patches fixing some specific stuff.
Iâll admit that LE doesnât have the same output at season start and they also stop updating the current season sooner. But GGG has been doing this for almost 15 years now. They have got their work methodology down pat (and even then theyâve been having issues with delays in more recent years).
EHG still needs to fine tune all that so they can produce the same amount of fixes early on and keep it up for longer. But the fact that at a certain point you stop updating is absolutely standard practice for programming when youâre working on more than one version at a time.
Actually, this has always been very rare for GGG. They never acknowledged any issues before. I havenât been checking PoE2âs forums, so itâs possible theyâve changed their stance on this, but it definitely wasnât a thing for many many years. And looking at the comments for every single patch/hotfix they release, they still do the same, since people are still complaining about the same things every single post without a reply.
And PoE2 also has bugs that have been there since day 1 and havenât been fixed. So does PoE. Usually the 500 bugs introduced in the current season are more important to fix than a bug players have lived with for years.
Also, if a bug hasnât been fixed for years, then likely itâs not an easy fix, whereas 490 of the 500 bugs are easier to fix.
The bugs I mentioned have been in the game for over a year and 4 months.
Who do you think was working on Shade in the prison many versions ahead of the release because its literally the same boss with a couple of new attacks, lol.
There are PoE bugs that have been around for a lot longer than that and still havenât been fixed. Hereâs a list, if youâre curious, and probably still missing a few:
Lol I really donât understand what youâre doing - are you trying to put down an old game I donât even play or are you trying to defend LE for having bugs? Iâm really confused although it just seems like youâre out to try make opposing points or something today, did you have a bad sleep?
You also realise poe release is like coming up on 14 years old in October and LE is just over 2 years old since release - so when I say a bug has been around since BEFORE I started 1.3 years ago that the bug has been in the game probably the entire length of it being âreleasedâ as 1.0 but sure please tell me more about bugs in old games I dont play
Iâm not trying to do either. Iâm just trying to point out to you that having old bugs that never get fixed even years later is something that is very common and not just in gaming either.
LE is simply declining⌠so what? If they donât deliver something big they will dwindle away as they did. As long as EHG isnât delivering a banger numbers will stay low no matter how hyped or chipper streamers are about it. If you are positiv about a game that isnât recived that well people will find you silly at best.
I have a friend who trys to tell me Crystalfall is the best H&S game ever and I always telling him this might be true for HIM but not objectively. As someone who has nothing good left to say about LE outside of âIt was good now itâs a 4/10 for me at best.â I will most likely encounter a lot of people who think Iâm silly or lost and thatâs only fair.
Compare the bases Diablo or Path of Exile have. Now add a broken, unbalanced, clunkyish, âuglyâ game into the mix that never took off noone should be suprised. Well at least if you push personal biases aside and look at a product for what it is.
Iâm not suprised noone is streaming and even if PoE2 wouldnât have delivered a good patch I guess the intrest in LE is still almost 0. Best case all people wait for the addon and we see some Diablo levels of âGood game after the addon.â.
similarly even me myself, i end up rewatching old series that i like rather than watch something new despite there being tons of stuff out there for me to try.
i have a strong love hate relationship with poe. i have a god damn lot to criticize but i also have so many powerful legacy items on standard waiting for me.
i legit HATE having to relevel a new character and regear them every league. and yet i still come back if theres promise of new and powerful gear
Thatâs basically the whole issue.
They went bancrupt.
Theyâre still hiring.
See the issue? You donât need to find professionals, you need to get your stuff in order and play at the playing field your product allows you.
If you can support 100 people and be fine great! But LE cannot, never could. For that they need to significantly expand monetization. And I donât mean different kinds, I mean either quantity or quality. Plainly spoken quantity foremost. Churning out a few HUNDRED different quickly made skins which are all recolored in 5-10 different shades to have a palette option and which are actually visible because they were so âsmartâ to make a âgrittyâ looking game where they vanish entirely in the background.
Letâs recapitulate non-verbatim what I experienced watching Wudijoâs stream. Heâs been pretty enthusiastic playing LE in the past.
In Season 4 though, of the big ARPGs streamers, probably only Raxx played longer than a few days. And some - like Mathil - didnât even show up.
- Playing bladedancer, seems fun, but played this or something similar before.
- Chat: Something new for LE out? Never knew.
- Quickly got to endgame on the same day of launch.
- Chat: Isnât this the P2W game?
- HC character is one-shot by Emperor of Corpses large area hit, despite being clearly out side of the slam range⌠bug.
Canât be arsed to restart now. Lets continue SC. - Chat: Remember when you were one-shot due to the bug in Soulfire Bastion during the race?
- Chat: Speaking of the race: Remember when you were disqualified despite being 2nd place because you somehow were still in CT? LoL
- Continueing and progressing fast through the endgame, getting to level 100 on the next day.
- Trying Vision of the Observer, contemplating how clusterf*** the Omenâs Veil is and arcane to have to activate all three.
- Quickly dismantle the new pinnacle boss. Got OP gear and BD OP. âLoLâ. Only after a few days, ~on 2nd or 3rd day.
- Chat: Isnât this the Krafton P2W game?
- A bit of fun with Oculus of Ruin. Nice idea.
- Chat: Whatâs this? A mobile game? Looks even worse than Diablo Immortal.
- Progressed further, did Uber Abberoth pretty soon.
- Whatâs next? What else could we play? Shadow Rend is the other new skill. But I just played Rogue. Fire Aura? Looks meh. Bee? Why is EHG obsessed with bees and lizards? What were they smoking.
- Chat: Hero Siege got a new season.
- Okay, lets try that and come back laterâŚ
He never came back, after only ~1 week. With less viewers than when he was playing a 2D ARPG and a chat that was constantly complaining and shittalking (which usually isnât).
I think as we the community should scramble to rebuy the company from South Korea. Plenty of rich people in the USA who love this game. Such a big sellout by EHG to do this. Never go overseas.
Donât worry, thereâs plenty of morally bankrupt US companies. EA for example, could you imagine if they did leagues? You have/be able to buy your BiS boss drops for RMT.
If the community wanted to put that much cash into EHG they wouldnât have needed to sell to Tencent/Krafton in the first place.
Itâs believe it or not more fun than this lol
