When will EHG please stop paying so much attention to Reddit?

The basement dwellers over on LE Reddit are deeply unserious hypocritical… animals.

For fuck’s sake, stop apologising to people that sound like they haven’t worked an honest day’s work since the day homo sapiens discovered toolmaking and foraging.

I know these days comments are not taken seriously unless they are transmitted via memes so here’s how I feel about the chodes over on one of the world’s best platforms for misinformation and propaganda.

Especially if you read what Mike said, the OP was wrong, it (apparently) wasn’t announced on a streamer’s stream, it was leaked/whatever on Mike’s & that got picked up by said streamer…

Though to be fair, if you read the “below threshold” comments, at least some people understand what happened.

To also be fair it wasn’t announced first on the website. Leak simply is an issue anyway… happens sometimes though.

But EHG not primarily communicating and answering questions over their own website is a bit of an issue.

I know you know this, but I can’t help myself.

Players on this forum are… let’s say, “captured”, already.

Views of conversations on non-EHG social media include players that are not already captured. ‘We’, players on EHG forums, just aren’t a capture opportunity. I used to let it annoy me, but I do want developers of games I like to be successful, so I try not to. That said, I hope that some folks in EHG realize that reddit is a place we’d rather not visit and put a little more effort into their own forum.

It wasn’t confirmed on Mike’s stream. Judd said in a comment maybe it will be 11th and he would check with the team and get back.
I am not on Action RPG’s discord so I can’t see the linked discord comment in the reddit post but apparently that is where the Devs confirmed the date.

That’s not what happened. Before the stream Aaron was asked when the patch notes would be released. He said he was under NDA so he couldn’t tell.
Then, on Mike’s stream it was leaked (either by Mike or in a comment on the stream, can’t really say because I haven’t watched the whole stream). At which point Aaron got the green light to reveal the date, which he did on his discord.
He literally said:

@everyone Announcement: Just Got The Green Light:ARPGgreenfire: Last Epoch S2 Patch Notes Dropping April 11th :aarona26Hype:

So when Aaron posted it it was because it was already leaked on last night’s Mike stream and Judd just gave him the go ahead.

That’s the impression I got from the Reddit comment, the apology was for:

Ultimately the Dev apology and explanation on Reddit covers DJ’s timeline + apologizing for not confirming officially before giving the green light.

I’m a massive supporter of: “The Official Forums should be the primary form of communication with Reddit/Discord/Steam being linked back to the official forum” and I do feel EHG should have made an official announcement post once it was leaked in the dev stream, but the outrage over giving someone under an NDA the greenlight to confirm already disclosed information in their own server is frankly ridiculous.

Yeah, it’s about the presentation for the company mostly.

One part is that it’s causing everything to be at one place (you link from the other places to the information provided)
One is that it’s properly valuing the people already ‘captured’ as you say, hence showcasing that they’re ‘valued’ by giving it at the spot they’re already at.

So a double screw-up simply? Still not great :stuck_out_tongue: But yeah, that’s how that stuff goes.

Well, if we gonna talk Pokémon, users on this forum have one major difference from “captured Pokémon”… Pokémon don’t have needs, nor preferences, neither can they leave their pokeball at will and, most importantly, they cannot choose to leave the team if they are not satisfied.

So, IF Pokemon were like us users on this forum, the Pokemon Trainer would learn that is not ideal to keep trying to capture more Pokemon if the ones they already have captured are unhappy and constantly leaving the team, because the trainer ignores them.

All being said. Yeah, EHG should at least try and give some more importance to these forum’s user’s feedback, and expand their whole communication aspects through here, over the babbling machine reddit is.

Especially when it was one particular streamer who’s a friend of a dev.

Man I haven’t read reddit since digg.com was a thing. I used to love that site, such a great traffic magnet

What? I’ve never played Pokemon, so I don’t know what you are talking about.

By “captured” I mean something like, “already a customer”. Folks on this forum are already customers of EHG. Why didn’t I say that? I have no idea.

Honestly the reddit post reminded me of a situation on the Fatshark Forums for Darktide. Some of the devs were doing a “let’s play the game and chat!” stream. They were doing goofy challenges for the chat and just generally answering questions if anyone had one but it wasn’t an official Q&A, basically. Anyway someone asked about when we were getting an overhaul to mission select so it wasn’t RNG and players could actually choose what mission they wanted to do and the dev goes “oh, I don’t know anything about that. But I guess if you wanted to pick a mission you should go to the mission board and select one haha”.

Keep in mind the devs doing the stream worked on like art or models or something and he was just cracking a joke.

People went ballistic in the forum post, saying the devs were treating the community as a joke etc.

I’m like: but his joke was funny and he already answered the original question with “I don’t know anything about that.”

I just think it’s interesting that this kind of community snafu of misrepresenting the devs intents happened twice. This thread is fine, imo, as the main issue being addressed was the lack of EHG interaction on the official forum while the reddit thread in question is like… why?
