WASD and interact/move in mouse1 separation

Yeah, absolutely. Especially the left click must be made a whole separate and customizable skill slot just like any other.

But I disagree on the first part. Holding shift to attack in place, preventing any movement input, is a staple since diablo I guess. Feels amazing on both melee and ranged characters.

Everyone is interacting way less often than attacking, so pressing shift to interact would be much easier than to attack. Overall, pressing 2 keys to attack instead of 1 is just very inefficient. Like, why wouldn’t you attach attack just to shift then, without left-clicking? Might take a bit of time to get used using separate key for interacting, but it’s much better this way.

But better is using both shift and left-click for different skills, and interact with some other key. And even better — using ESDF instead of WASD, more keys you can easy press, for example W for interacting, Q for inventory, Z for something else, like potion (and A instead of Shift for some skill).

You’re all over complicating this. The game just has to detect if the mouse pointer is over an element (loot, NPC etc) that can be interacted with. If it’s in this state, left mouse button interacts.
If it’s not, left mouse button uses whatever skill you’ve assigned.

What if it’s over object you don’t want to interact with? Should you double check before each attack that it’s not over some object?

We could do with a pickup key. Like that shift everyone is so keen about. I don´t use shift for anything while playing WASD.

That’s how it currently works.

I was going to say the same thing. Separate the movement from the left mouse click completely.

If the mouse is over and interactive object like item on the ground, npc, etc… then interact with the object, if far away go to the object and interact, otherwise use a skill.
Its like this in PoE2 which I was playing till now with WASD and its great!

i havent actually tried WASD yet (forgot its a thing in this patch), since we have dedicated movement keys with mouse for targetting. melee strikes will feel much more better if it moved the player slightly into the direction of the enemy (as long as theres distance between the player and the target).

This! I’d like separate move and interact when WASD enabled. Thanks

Never happened to me that I would interact with an object I did not want to interact with in combat and I use left mouse click as my main attack in PoE2 and left mouse click is interact button, there is not double check.

We must played different versions of POE 2 then, because it happened with me all the time. Skill attached to left-click was unreliable, because it wouldn’t work if there is some chest or item.

But it doesn’t matter, there will probably add an option to use key for both attack and interaction later anyway. I just don’t understand why would anyone want it.

Please allow to use WSAD as its currently implemented!! Maybe left click move could be disabled in option or by default disabled but please allow to have it! This is the best implementation. I can move WSAD but also use left mouse to move whenever I want. This should be configurable butr not removed. The thing that is most annoying in WSAD implementation in ‘other’ game is that when you are out of combat, moving through map or in town you cannot move with mouse. This is such a pain.

agree with above, also if you can add keybinds just for zoom in/out of overlay map would be great! Any chance you can allow us to rebind the item inspect toggles alt/ctrl? just so we can have freedom to set the same as previously played games for comfort/familiarity? cheers EHG, 1.2 is a banger!

As a melee I was having trouble with it when putting Warpath on left click/movement while on WASD. I just managed to work around it by putting Lunge instead, then Warpath on right click. Might want to avoid channeling skills on the left click while on WASD for now.

Came here to post exactly this! Other than that, loving the WASD integration.

After a couple hours playin an aRPG with WASD for the first time ever, I realized I don’t really like it. IDK, but it feels tireing in a way no MMORPG do to me. And I play MMO for more than 5 hours daily, never got my hand tired as much as after playing LE with WASD for only couple hours.
I might try it some more later, but I guess I’m sticking to point-and-click for now.

It’s especially good when playing any ranged character, because you can move back while keeping your mouse on target. I’d argue it’s less tiring, because you don’t have to constantly click backwards and attack.

Hope we hear from them about this soon. I put move/ interact on mouse scroll click and then whatever ability on left click and it worked pretty well. I’ve done it before for other games and this seemed to work pretty well once you get used to scroll clicking loot and shrines. Overall I think wasd has been great and have no other issues. Awesome update!

All it needs is to bind “interact only” to left mouse and it would be sweet.

It’s really simple, they just need to make it work like POE 2 does it. Works perfectly.

  1. I can use my left mouse button for a skill.
  2. I can also use my left mouse button to interact (with NPCs, loot etc).
