You are affected either way, with CoF you target farm gearslots and craft your uniques aswell. If you kitted out your Warlock with your best gear, that grind became useless aswell just now. It is not like you get your 3/4 LP gear back.
Maybe fix all the real issues before worrying about balance, party play is still barely functional even now.
Love how you said you weren’t going to nerf this and now are walking back on this due to some toxic fun-policing people, probably the same members of the community that talk down to anyone following a build guide or flame people in general asking questions.
Rerolling is such a pain in the ass in this game that after this I doubt I will play future leagues as it seems like there’s a good chance you may ruin a build I decide to play.
Luckily I had my fun with this already and was planning on quitting this week anyways.
Also why isn’t the Healing Hands bug getting addressed hmm…
Warlocks are fine. They just can’t ignore every mechanic now like they used to.
Well, I’m out. Wasn’t even playing warlock (or had any intention to this league) but I have no interest in playing an ARPG where my build can be suddenly nerfed to the ground over something I have no control over. Other major ARPGs steer clear of nerfing builds mid cycle/league/season for this very reason.
Good point, didn’t bother me much, though.
bUt iTs nOt a nERf, iTs a bUG@!
I just wanted to reestablish, that if you crafted your gear for minion health in CoF, that effort&time is gone aswell, if it is not valuable anymore after this patch.
Appreciate the heads up!
Issue: Real value of Profane Veil skill node is different than it’s text description.
Best solution: Update text description to match the real value.
What we got: Update real value to match text description.
The thing is, the bug here wasn’t fixed ASAP. It’s being fixed weeks after people have put time into their characters.
I think we all agree that bugs should be fixed ASAP. That is a different thing than what is happening here.
Love this attention to fixing things after receiving feedback on it.
Just to be 100% clear, I am hugely in favor of playing arpgs where builds can be nerfed due to bugfixes shortly after being made available. Why? Because being overpowered doesn’t feel right to me in the first place. I’m actively going to choose the non-overpowered stuff, instead. Now I could choose to play this build using this feature without any feeling that I’m skating through the game on easy mode. What this does for me is open up choices. That’s only true, because of my perspective of not wanting to play overpowered stuff, though. It’s understandable that some people do want to do that. I can’t identify with that, but I can at least understand where they’re coming from. That said, the toxicity I’m seeing about it from all sides is despicable. We don’t have to become like other arpg communities over things like this. This behavior of portraying things you feel bad about in the most uncharitable light possible in order to feel validated in your hate is exactly why the internet is full of all the cesspools it is. How about let’s not create yet another one of those here?
With all that said, I’ll reiterate that I personally like these fixes. You can disagree without being angry and hateful, it turns out.
Technical issues should be fixed ASAP.
Balancing issues should not be fixed ASAP.
It hasn’t been months since the launch yet… Weeks yes, but not months. There was only a wait specifically for two reasons:
First, they prioritized server issues.
Second, they weren’t sure if it was a good idea or not and they specifically solicited feedback on that. After receiving said feedback (and only after) did they choose to make these changes. There are important facts that must be included in any reasonable discussion and given proper consideration for any discussion about this to have merit. We can’t just start ignoring facts that don’t support what we feel. To clarify, this is not an accusation of that on your part. I just wanted to point this out.
You’re right, I don’t know why I thought the game had been out so long. Regardless, we’re about 1/3rd of a way through a season, which is far too late to be nerfing characters. Yes, I know this isn’t technically a “nerf” and it’s actually a “bug fix” but if a character no longer can do content as challenging as they were previously, it has the same effect.
Can’t say I’m not disappointed… Had this bug been fixed at discovery then that’s fine, to sit on it and wait until 3 weeks into the Cycle is a huge misstep.
1 month now and they still haven’t fixed the graphics issues where the game automatically sets all the textures and grass to high inbetween every area. My friends and I all have this same issue. But hey, gotta advertise the game using celebrities like the neckbeard from Stranger Things. Money rules!
Thank you !
I would argue that 1/3 is an arbitrary threshold for being “too late”. Still, it’s a valid opinion. I’d say this is something they should have cleared before launching the league. As in, this survey should have come before, but everything is easier in hindsight. In addition, these characters are still going to be able to do content that most other characters were already limited to. This is mostly just bringing things into line. When the word “nerf” gets thrown around, I think a lot of excess context sticks with it: Namely that nerfs usually brick characters in games, whereas here I don’t think characters are bricked at all, just that the playing field is actually more level now. There might be some builds that outperform this now, but they are upper echelon builds if they do.
From a warlock player, a big thank you.
I would agree with you on your points but I’d like to point out that there’s a pretty sizeable number of bugs in the game regarding skill and item interactions that haven’t been addressed before release till now. Has EHG prioritized resources to fix them? nope
So why these two bugs specifically? And why after a release statement saying they will not be changing anything mid cycle?
I don’t think this is a bugfix issue at its root.
It’s an issue with the playerbase on what they perceive to be power imbalances with builds and how EHG is responding to their playerbase.
EHG is handling this game exactly like how devs in D4 or Torchlight did (catering to the most vocal and obnoxious players in the playerbase). I don’t have high hopes on the trajectory of this game in that case.
