Unity Crash - Usually in Quest echoes in Monolith during combat

Hello the game crashes whenever I go through the quest timeline echoes in the Monolith zones. It occasionally crashes during normal echoes but are quite rare, whereas quests are almost guaranteed.

Here are my files:

DxDiag.txt (94.7 KB)

I do not have citrix installed.

Hi there

You have a number of LiveKernelEvents within your DxDiag report:

+++ WER5 +++:
Fault bucket LKD_0xA1000001_amdfendr!unknown_function, type 0
Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 5f0172dd-6970-4881-91b1-3613b34f72f8

P8: 256_1

P10:

LKEs are caused by hardware issues, such faulty hardware or misconfigured or overzealous overclocking / underclocking. In this instance, there is also an Windows Error Report wiht a crash inside the kernel caused by the Radeon Software config tool:

Problem signature:
P1: Radeonsoftware.exe
P2: 10.1.2.1963

Before proceeding, You should double-check any BIOS, Power Supply, overclocking settings ad run a system hardware diagnostic.

After reducing any of those settings to improve stability, you might find the game crashes less often / not at all.

The Last Epoch crash you have seen is a memory access violation, which can be caused by many things, including memory leaks (which the team are aware of and working on) or an interaction with misconfigured hardware / drivers / etc.

You may also find verifying Steam game file integrity helps as, if there is a corrupt game asset, it might be triggering this situation.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

The LKEs and the RadeonSoftware errors were not induced while the game was open. These were caused by myself and have since fixed (I accidentally tried to move a file while I was copying it somewhere else causing explorer and windows to bug out).

Here are some updated files:
Player.log (360.1 KB)
Player-prev.log (88.4 KB)
DxDiag.txt (94.8 KB)

The crash was consistent this time with the exact same trigger method, I crashed twice in the same exact point which may be referenced. I was standing at the entrance area to the first quest timeline in the monolith for “Age of Winter” when the crash happened. I am playing in multiplayer with one friend and everytime he moved through the map at a certain point it would induce the crash. I also noticed that when I start the instance, the quest information is displayed, but as soon as he takes the echo portal, the information disappears from my log. I also noticed that it reappeared when I took my “Town Portal” which I resorted to using while he cleared the instance up til the last quest checkpoint in which I would portal to him and complete, thereby skipping most of it.

Additionally, I never had any crashing issues playing the game on the first day, the crashes only started happening after I reached the “End of Time”. The game then began to crash frequently throughout the remainder of the campaign. I can play consistently for between 1-2 hours just doing echoes without doing the quest timelines and sometimes do not crash. Most crashes are almost guaranteed as soon as I start doing the quest timeline, either solo or with my friend.

Edit* I tried with very low settings and it still crashes, I have also verified the game files.

I hope that information helps, thanks again!

Yes I have had frequent crashes during monoliths, unity crash. They released a patch to help this but the crashes are still happening. Nothing we can do at the moment except wait for another patch to fix.

I have the same issue random crash from the latest patch and after. It happens when i am playing when i am sitting and when loading an echo. I never had chrash issue before latest patch. I also have amd card and all my drivers are up to date.

For what it’s worth, many people who submit DxDiag files for a crash have a pile of different crashes and errors  Yours are relatively clean and constrained to the Last Epoch crash.

From your logs, there is a common error about a graphic for a 2h spear, but I note that you said you had verified Steam file integrity, so I’m not sure what that is about.

This will sound weird, but if you or your friend are usnig a 2h-spear, try switching to a different weapon and see if you don’t crash

If you have found a reliably reproducible crash, then you’re an absolute gem as the logs will be very useful for EHG to diagnose and fix the issue (if it lies in their code). You could just be the person who helps them fix it for everyone

That said, there is a directory where crash reports are generated:

C:/Users/b4gho/AppData/Local/Temp/Eleventh Hour Games/Last Epoch/Crashes

Go grab what you can from there, zip it up and upload it for them

Yeah, the crashes seem very consistent for me in terms of them, basically guaranteed to happen whenever I try to do Quest Echoes, which I’ve resorted to just sitting at the entrance while waiting for my friend to clear the map objective by himself.

Again, I do sometimes crash during normal echo gameplay, but almost consistently whenever I do Quest echoes.

Here are the zip files (split in 2 due to size requirements):
Crashes.zip (5.0 MB)
Crashes2.zip (2.9 MB)

Hope these help!
