Unique fusion

One idea came to my mind that seams very exiting to me and i wanted to share it and ask u guys what do u think of it… Possibility of applying certain rare rune curently not present in game to fuse any 2 uniques to get 3rd one with random combination of affixes from both? Ofc some strong affixes have very small chance to roll on third unique (only items of same item class can be fused)

An absolute balancing nightmare…that’s all that came to mind.

Though, I’ll give a traditional Mike type of answer for these things – maybe?. :joy:

I was reading that post and got that idea while reading it but i wanted to ask people what they think of it so i tought to right a separate post to see their opinion

@Heavy: his is a very different suggestion than the OP.

The one is fusing 1 uniques of the same type to reroll their stats to min/max.

OP suggested to fuse different uniques and combine their stats to new uniques.

@Vekongnitoo: this reminds me of the D2 horadric cube or the PoE vendor receipts.

@AndrewTilley: If you have fix items that are already developed and that are only accessible by fusing 2 specific other uniques, this could be really fun. Farm 2 different timeline bosses for the 2 specific drops to fuse them into the item of desire!

Eternity Cache???

Yes, it’d have to be an already designed item that is created from the combination of two (or more) specific items, rather than the combination of two (or more) random items to form a new random item from those items (unless there are like substantial restrictions with such a system).

Yeah, the original Eternity Cache description from the Kickstarter is fairly similar to this. I could see something like this happening for sure.

Yeah now after reading it again i get it.

I just didn’t even assumed something like this, because that is beyond broken.

Uniques are… well… unique, hancrafted, specifically designed and balanced around a very particular combination of stats.

What OP is describing doesn’t sound like a unqiue, but like an entire new item class.

Not a big fan too. We already have enough random stuff in this game, getting some very rare beyond broken item is not something I am looking forward too.

I may sound close-minded, but I think Uniques should remain untouched. What makes each of them unique is that we can’t change them.

It doesn’t have to be random. Just a different way of aquireing items.

I’d have to agree with Shtrak on this one, I think Uniques should stay… Unique.

Hm the idea was to have one rare rune lets say almost a mirror tire rare (poe comparison) how many drops of mirrors actualy did u have in poe i had none so far and played for a long time. With this rune u can fuse any 2 uniques and get compleat garbage or u can get an broken OP item but that unique will be unique like no any other in game no kne will have the same one since there would be no restrictions what affix is combined in new item (it can even be double affix)
Why i like this one is couse no one in game will have something that u crafted but maybe in whole your carrier of playing u will never be able to do it couse its mirror tire rare. Next thing what excites me here is hunting for something like this i may never find it but i know its there. But i understand your point as well.

Actually i was thinking to have no predetermined items so u can have item completly OP broken but tier of this rune is like mirror drop rare (u may never find it after 10k hours of play but u know its there) u would get fused unique to be complete garbage, average or broken OP item but it will be your unique that u can use that cycle or maybe u will never see it

I feel that before theorizing about what we can make with Uniques, we should wait and see what are the Legendary items. At that moment, we’ll have a global view of itemization in the game and we’ll be able to think about we could possibly wish more.
