Yesterday, there was a power flicker in my area that caused my computer to shut down in the middle of playing. Since trying to play again today, when I attempt to log in to an Offline character, clicking the “Enter Game” button freezes the screen for about half a second, and then resumes the idling animation on the character select screen, with no further presses on Enter Game doing anything.
When logging into an Online character, however, the game successfully connects and brings me in, but from there, I am unable to actually do anything. I cannot move or use any abilities. What I did have happen, however, was in attempting to open my inventory, which appears as blank when it shouldn’t be, and clicking on a gear slot confused, managed to drop my chest piece off of my character, which I can now no longer pick up as I cannot interact with anything. I worry that logging out of my character at this point will have caused me to lose this item with no way to retrieve it, so if there is any way to resolve this issue and have a way to restore the item, it would be most appreciated.

If the files are unrecoverable and I lost everything, since it appears even the .bak files have null values, that’s one thing. However, as it stands, I cannot even make new characters to play on. Creating a new character simply takes me through the intro cinematic, then locks me on the loading screen for an offline character, or loads me into the first zone unable to do anything for online characters.
If I have to completely start from scratch with nothing, so be it, but I need to actually make the game playable again in order to even do that, and I need to know if that’s achieved by simply deleting everything in the Save folders, or something else.
I’m facing the exact same issue after power went off (it didn’t spike).
What I did to make game work for me is this:
backup last epoch folder in users/ AppData folder, and delete it
launch game and create new character
It works fine…
Now I’ll try to copy my saved characters one by one into the newly created Last Epoch folder and try to see if I can get them to work.
Then I’ll try copying the stashes.
If they fail, I’ll try use the backup files and see how far I can successfully restore my offline account (which is dramatically important, since online us not working in Egypt to begin with)
Update 1: copying all characters from old saves make them all work perfectly fine.
It’s the Epoch_local_global_data_beta files that caused characters to stop loading when I copied them.
Update 2: I found that Epoch_local_global_data_beta file to have only 1 KB size, while the file “Epoch_local_global_data_beta - backup” is 154 KB. So I simply copied the back file and renamed it, and poof. Now characters loading again!
Update 3: copying all the stash files caused problem to happen again.
Deleting all stash tabs again doesn’t make problem go away.
Update 4: It seems this file is very old backup of global data file I took manually very long ago. I’m trying to figure out where’s the latest backup to restore the stashes and crafting mats.
Copying all stash files without global data file results in character loading, but totally empty stash without any tabs beside the default empty first one.
Update 5: all stash tabs files have null values, allstach tabs backup files have null values. There’s no backup of Epoch_local_global_data_beta file existing after patch 0.9 (so latest backup is as modern as 9th March)
problem is within Epoch_local_global_data_beta file and stash tab files.
problem could be solved easily before the 0.9 patch changes the way save files for stash tabs works, by simply restoring one single bak file
current game version just rewrite both the stash tab files, and backup stash files into all null. This occur when power outage happen for some reason.
we can restore offline functionality by deleting Epoch_local_global_data_beta file, and letting the game create new one. The cost is losing entirty of stashes, and entire crafting mats.
we can restore a backup from stash tabs and crafting materials from 9th March (just before patch 0.9), so losing an entire month of hardcore grind, and hundreds of items, and thousands of crafting mats. That seems the most we can do…
Additional note: currently, automatic backup seem useless, since game will rewrite them into null when you open the game again when this bug occur.
Creating manual backups is also much harder, since there are a big number of files equal to the number of stash tabs and stash category.
Steam sync is also useless, since it will replace the files with null ones before you realize the problem
So you say I have lost all my progress for offline mode and they cant fix the problem?
Logic, if I had a crash with 1 character, only that character should be damaged and lose some progress, but I cant play none of the offline characters. Maybe the programmers will redo the code for saving characters.
I have deleted Epoch_local_global_data_beta file and still cant play offline.
Your best bet for any power outage, etc is to always immediately backup the files afterward. Then, if you have data loss, raise a support ticket at support.lastepoch.com
For offline save files, they don’t mind people editing them in order to get them working
I got a power outage again today two times, and before launching Last Epoch again, I made a backup of saves. However, things worked fine in both times, so I didn’t need the backup.
It seem the only time power outage corrupt the files is when it cut while modifying stash tab files (putting or removing items from stash, or using “transfer crafting materials” )
Also, if all your stash files are already filled with “null” and beyond repair, you can restore offline game function by removing stash tabs files, and accept that all your stash is gone. For me, preserving characters was enough, since characters have all their equipment anyway.
There’s also a way to restore crafting materials, but it need manually editing either the values in stash zero file (after backing it up, then removing it, and letting game regenerate new file), it’s a hassle, but i managed to restore it.
