UI colors too dark?

Hello!

First off lets start with a positive. Game is fun! Love the build aspect of the game with the individual trees for skills and passives. It feels like the love child between diablo 3 and titan quest which I think is great! So yeah, I am enjoying that a lot.

I don’t know if there is something I am doing wrong, and yes I know about modifying brightness in the menus, but I find I am straining my eyes to play the game. No game I have played has ever had the same effect and I changed everything on my end from screen brightness to contrast to blue light filters. I tried it all. Something about the darkness of the menus and the literal darkness makes the game hard to focus on. Again, not sure if there is a recommendation for resolving this, but I just find it super taxing on my eyes, and I play a TON of games with similar aesthetics and lightning.

So perhaps brighten up the UI a bit?

Again, really liking the game though!

up this please, game is fun but UI is too dark and low constrast, really hard to read things, and in general the game as apposed has too high contrast, i see in “black and white” like, light is so bright and shadow pitch black. like there is no diffuse light

I personally don’'t see the LE UI as being too dark. Could you give some examples plz? What UI parts are too dark or contrast for you?

for nvidia there is ‘digital vibrance’, radeon has a similar feature. have you tried experimenting with this? for me it helps in most games.

Hi,
maybe i have expressed myself wrong, and this is not a critique of the game, that is fun and promising.

ive put some screenshot in to express my feelings about this “brightness thing”
some points:

  • dark UI
  • small fonts
  • antialiasing of fonts make them less readable? font is no clear enought for me atleast
  • poor contrast of some zones (maybe its a settings things?)
  • poor contrast of some elements in the UI, es fonts (i cant read them lol, i mean i read them but i find it Straining for my eyes) even in the forum some fonts (the blue ones) are straining to look at.
  • do i need to go to the doctor? :=)

thanks for creating a fun game

Yes I can agree with this one. LE font in some places are not clear (blurred).
As to UI being too dark that is a matter of taste I think. I don’t know maybe the devs could give an option for Contrast / Brightness in the graphics menu?

I wholeheartedly agree on the colors being too dark. Actually even on the website it feels a bit dark. For things to look normal i had to increase my gamma in the nvidia control panel. Maybe the people working on this project have screens with higher gamma than normal ? But gamma is definitely the culprit. I just increased it a bit and now i can play in brigthness “medium” and the ui looks good. ( Also the background of the website became dark purple instead of almost black which looks better imo )

This.
→ I wear glasses myself, but it starts gradually and is a little different for everyone. :sunglasses:

I just played my first play-through, and I was about to post something along those lines.

I had a hard time with the black on dark monsters, especially in the Ruined Era. They blend too much in the background. I only notice them when they move or attack, and I usually have to highlight them with the cursor to have a general insight about what they are.

I understand there is an artistic choice to have a colder color palette the closer you are to the end of times, but cold palette + dark map let me with the impression I play blindfolded.

The cold palette is right for the decor, but I think a warmer palette and some light effects for the character, monsters, and interactable objects would help things stand out and make a better play experience.

For example, I think it’s nice when you don’t immediately see “every little monster fart”.
Diablo 1 was simply the best/most fitting of the whole series in terms of atmosphere.
→ Please not too much/no klickibunti “colorful like a cartoon” in Last Epoch, thank you.

I share your concerns, and I’m not asking for a clown festival.
Just a bit of emphasis would be welcome.

Beside, I guess some spells effects are still missing in the game. For example, fireball and lightnings bolts don’t cast lights. Spells may improve visibility.

Yes, I also share of this opinion.

This might be a concept kind of direction but I do find the UI and most of the maps a bit too dark. I even tried to up the brightness in my Radeon settings but, since I have some photosensitivity and extreme bright lights hurt my eyes, the spells effects begun to mess with my sight and I had to return it to the default settings.

(it was a POE bloom disaster flashback)
