So like the titel says, i turned my PC off yesterday by holding the on/off button while LE was open and actively playing a character. I log in the next day and my character that i was playing on was completely gone. Just that one too, no others. I just started leveling it, so that’s not a big issue. But i did have my idols etc. ready in my inventory which is was gonna use as well as some nice items i was planning on using. All gone and i cba to farm them again.
No idea how this even happened, but yeah it did. And i was/am not even drunk. Not sure if anyone is even able to look into this, but if they can that would be awesome. If any more info is needed let me know.
All savegames are currently local (and will remain so until MP is launched) and while I am not sure on the exact “save” process, I am willing to bet that saves only happen on things like loading into town and manually exiting properly…
If you just nuke the power like you did, there is a pretty good chance that 1) your character would not be saved and 2) the particular savegame could become corrupted - especially if it tried to access the actual file just as you cut the power…
Lets face it, its never a good idea to just cut the power to any modern PC without something potentially going west… always better to shutdown properly or at least let it hibernate/sleep properly.
I know it doesnt help right now, but I personally backup my last epoch folder before I play for similar reasons… nothing worse that losing 700h of characters to a corruption… and LE is beta so things like this DO happen…
If you want to do similar… the folder on Windows is:
