Trade development update - Introducing merchants guild and circle of fortune factions

I don’t think it is possible to absolutely balance those two factions and that was not the goal for the devs. But adjustments and tweaks to the system are certain to come with patches.

That was a general statement and not a reference to anything here beyond the principle of the post, nevermind I will work on my English and try again next time.

I love that system cause it creates the one thing I was missing in other game trading design, an advantage for “no trade” players. Instead of nerfing the loot system, you provide a compensation and I believe that’s very clever and positive so all types of players can get the system they prefer for the game.

I think that’s a very good middle ground that will probably get updated with time but that’s a solid base to start with.
I’m happy for the people who enjoys trading to be able to have fun their own way, and I’m glad I’ll be rewarded for going the hard way

I really appreciate the amount of iteration you guys do on your systems. Reading between the lines it’s

  1. You can trade an participate in the economy, if you want to or
  2. you can get special bonuses towards finding your own items if you don’t want to deal with it.

You’ll still have to watch progress/time spent to keep the approaches balanced, but overall I think it’s an innovative solution that keeps everyone happy. Please tell me tencent didn’t purchase call options on you guys as part of your deal.

Not sure how the balance between the two guilds will work out, but it is great that it is adjustable.

It’s an element I’m eager to try out right now! :grinning:

Would be great if they introduced more powerful end game bosses at the same time! :fire:

This really bothers me… both look like fun. thank you for giving me a choice

Well I’m a happy panda now and I’m able to trade with my friends when using ressonance… Everything what I want. Thx EHG!

There is only one thing I ask myself… If I play with a friend and we are in the same area when something drops can I freely trade with him if I am Cof and he’s MG?

I like this!

So MG can gift to CoF, but when CoF gifts to MG there is a requirement to swap to CoF to use the item.

It’s not about the usage it’s about the giftability because if someone playes differnt toons with different guilds it would be bad if I can’t trade Item X my friend wants for toon Z while he plays toon B and now we need to swithc toons and use ressonence to get the item from toon Z to toon B.

If I understand you correctly then no. you can always gift the items that drop if you are in the same zone, my understanding and it might be wrong is that is where it ends. I do not think you can gift to someone and they then move the item to a different character of theirs.

But there is a account wide stash in towns… you know :D. Will there be 2 chests then one for each guild?

For people that play alone, yeah trade will be far better. For people that play in groups a lot, the added drop rates for each CoF member, plus the ability to target farm, plus the ability to gift amongst each other will provide some pretty strong benefits. It remains to be seen what happens.

The item gifted from CoF to MG character will have a tag saying it is only usable by a CoF character. There will be no way to remove the tag. From the FAQ and various streamers comments that appear to have been involved in early private conversation with EHG on the developers ideas, this is due to the increased drop rates that CoF will have once sufficiently ranked up.

Hi, i think the choice of choosing MG or CoF might depend on several factors, such as

  • what build are you playing? one with many random drop uniques or one with few and easily target farmable uniques?
  • do you play alone or in a group?
  • how much time do you play and how long are cycles?
  • do you want to switch between builds or experiment around?
  • do you want to farm gold?
  • do you want to collect items for other characters?
  • do I have a personal affinity or preference for a Playstyle?

So

  • If i play cold dot werebear with 0 uniques required, i can play CoF and gather many uniques for other characters. Or I can play MG and sell all uniques to get lots of gold.
  • If i play in a highly organized group, the 4xCoF drop rate might be very attractive.
  • If i don’t play enough to trade legendaries within a cycle, that option might not be interesting for me.
  • if I’m upset with PoE, i might come to LE for a more convenient version of trade.
  • If i want to play alone, however, a very particular build with many random drop uniques with LP, MG must be the go to faction, or it has no upside compared to CoF.

It’s not about the tag and usage. Can I gift an item to a friend I play with if we are in different guilds? So far I read only the item usage is prohibited and I know that but I drop an item as Cof can I trade said Item to my friend who plays his MG toon right now so he can put it in his bank to use it on his CoF toon or do we have to switch toons and waste ressonance because we are in different guilds? If the latter is the case I’ll never play with someone in a party who isn’t CoF at all becaue CoF is OP for direct play with friends while MG is something for a loner toon if even… that’s still depending on the benefits of target farming.

I believe so yes, items are not character bound. I’m still not sure what the line is from MG to CoF if I have a MG character that buys an item from the bazaar can my CoF character equip it or does it then have an MG tag.

I read it, but I do not understand it all, but all in all, it does looks good and “understandable”, but I will not be fully into it until I actually play the Update and is experiencing it.

Running through a possible farming scenario in my head. If I have a character in MG that I play and rank up, and it finds a BoH that I’m not likely to use because I find stat sticks that any character can use and benefit from boring and emersion breaking. I can sell that for gold if I have enough rank and favor, then turn around and use that gold on my ranked up CoF character in Lightless Arbor?
