I played around 50-60 monolith and didnt find a single upgrade for my character. And i’m not able to progress because my character is to weak to progress. I’m getting oneshot from a lot of normal mobs.
The game is asking to much time from a player to find anything that will make him progress. You have to grind much, MUCH more then in D4 or PoE to progress. I just lost the will to play the game, its just not worth it. I don’t see the point. I’m rather playing those 2 games, they at least give me some satisfaction of progression.
Maybe you will fix it someday, and i will enjoy the game, but for now its not for me.
Not to mention bugged dungeons where you get constantly DC if you die…
Do you want to give some informations to this statement? Like what level you are and if you made your own lootfilter and stuff like that?
With my 90+ Warlock I have a hard time finding stuff because it’s geared well and I’m with you that at a certain point item progressions slows down drasticly but as someone who plays CoF I get a loot sshower every now and then that is worthwhile.
Are you using crafting or just hoping for upgrades via drops? The game does a pretty poor job teaching you how to get improved gear. Gear is quite unimportant throughout the campaign and early on in monos.
I don’t know an arpg game that does not get grindy at the very end.
How far are you? If you are lvl 100 or close, the game basically boils down to getting unique with LP and really good affixes on purples.
Thats not very exiting, I agree. But the way to the end is super fun imo.
He even said more than D4 lol. I mean maybe if you take into account a single uber unique that you must have that you don’t actually need. I guess… maybe
All my gear is crafted.
And yes, PoE is grindfest, but you dont have to have BiS gear to finish the game, hear is not the case. Im lv 80-81, dont know exactly because i uninstalled the game.
And yes i used prophecies.
Maybe one day something will change, but for now i moved on.
The game is good, i would say very good, but the grind is just to much. Couldn’t get anything i wanted.
Ok fair. I don’t want to grind that much either so I just chose a build that doesn’t rely solely on gear. I still get meaningful upgrades at empowered monos, and are getting clsoe to lvl 90. Maybe arpgs jsut aren’t for you if you don’t like to grind for gear.
Game is out for 1.5 weeks.
Game virtually unplayable for 3 days of that.
Doesn’t have great gear… only level 80.
Quits because of ‘the grind’.
We’ve secretly switched @toma_epoch 's D3 shortcut, to a game that doesn’t drop 35 Legendary and Set items in every Greater Rift. Let’s see if they notice…
lol…true! Think about that OP - you’ve been playing the game less than 2 weeks and you’re already quitting because you haven’t gotten short term satisfaction. How about a little persistence?
Try experimenting with different specs, I’m doing that on my mage and it’s pretty fun. You get a chance to try out different skills and builds. Some are definitely better than others.
Also, you might want to not play quite so much if you feel so frustrated after a week.
So let me get this right…you played an hour or two…didn’t pick up an upgrade…are stuck in the 80s…and are claiming to have experience in other ARPGs…
Something isn’t adding up. You can play 20 or even 100 hours of POE and not get an upgrade once you’re very well geared. If you follow leaderboards in LE, even the top players were getting upgrades every day for over a week. Yet…you’re somehow unable to find upgrades in the 80s (which is only a few hours into monoliths anyways for bad builds).
When you’re only level 80, “I can’t find any upgrades but my character is also too weak” is an argument that you are bad at the game, not that the game is too grindy.
The faction system makes grinding meaningful and solves all the problems you listed in the original post. I got so bored of not progressing before 1.0 and the faction system just fixed everything for me so fast.
And yes guys, its possible for someone to do their entire playthrough without even using the Faction system. Take Asmongold for example. Entire playthrough, zero faction interaction.
It’s objectively wrong you got no upgrades for that long. 50-80 is anything but constant upgrades. You either don’t have your loot filter set up correctly or you don’t know how to build your character.
The question today folks is; are ARPGs grindy?
The answer? Yes. They have always been grindy.
