Hello,
I spent some time with LE in the past week. What I noticed is that every few hours I will get prompts that my system is running low on memory and eventually crashes.
When I start the game it allocates 3-4GB of RAM and the number starts creeping up and up and at some point it crashes.
I am not sure if it is relevant (most lilely not) I am playing Void Knight and I am farming the monolith.
Win7 with 16GB of RAM. I am not sure what other specification is needed. I am ready to help if someone needs to deep dive into this.
Thanks!
I have not attempted to play LE on a Windows 7 system so I am not sure what is happening on that platform but on Window 10 with 16gb of ram, LE rapidly uses about 10GB and then bounces betwene 10GB and 12GB with an average close to 10.5GB. It doesnt get any more than that even after a day of grinding away multiple characters.
Some questions (a few of which could probably answered by providing the system info):
Other than being Windows 7, it is updated to the last version of the product?
Do you have the latest graphics drivers etc installed?
Have any changes been made to the default windows swap file settings?
What in-game settings are you trying to run the game on? (Even high end systems struggle with LE performance in its current Beta state)
Are you running multiple monitors?
Are you running any other applications at the same time as playing the game?
Hi,
I am running Win 7 which as updated as it can be. Obviously it has reached its end of life so I do not expect a lot of time to be spent towards fixing issues that are most like coming from the OS itself.
As far as drivers are concerned, it is all up to date - the first thing I tried to fix this. There are no changes to the swap file - it has large enough size limit and there is sufficient space on my SSD.
I am running on medium settings for the in-game graphics. Single monitor setup and I have a web browser opened at all times with one active tab (the rest are suspended automatically).
What I have seen so far is that as the game starts to stutter a bit, eventually I will zone in with a black screen and a few monoliths later the game crashes and sends a crash report to EHG.
Based on the above I can help the devs if they need something specific from my end. Otherwise I got into the habit of restarting the game every 10 or so waves which addresses the situation.
As you still havent provided the information its pretty hard to help you… Specifics are very important in resolving issues and your comments dont give an indication of your CPU/GPU. However, based on the information you have provided I will have to make some assumptions to try and help.
I am assuming that because you are running Windows 7 its likely that you have an older machine. I cannot guess what issues Windows 7 may be causing as very few people posting problems on this forum are using it… probably less than a handful…
This is pretty much exactly what happens with LE in its current beta state if you try and push the settings.
Unless you are running a higher end system you should not be running the game on medium graphics settings… Even players using 30 series graphics card with matching high end CPUs have found that LE in its current state is very unstable with anything higher than Medium settings and high resolutions. People with 20 series graphics cards are using a combination of low/medium settings depending on their setups.
Another important configuration is framerate limiting - LE is known to run away with a GPU if framerate limiting is not enabled… This presents as high GPU usage %s and instability after some time of playing. It is recommended that you set this to your monitor capability or less - dont leave it unlimited.
To improve stability the following is recommended:
Temporarily set your config to 1080p, 60fps frame limited, every setting to very low or disabled. Test for stability.
If its stable then increase the resolution - nothing else - to the level you want to play at.
If its still stable, then increase the fps rate limit - obviously up to your monitors capability or less if you find that acceptable. Do not remove the limit - LE is much stabler with a limit in place.
If its still stable, then increase the in-game graphic settings one step at a time testing as you go… I would NOT recommend going above medium unless you have a high end system.
Things like antialising and textures etc can also be toggled to see - some find this either improves stability or fps but its very system specific.
