I watched S4 trailer. I’ve followed the teasers. I’ve read the reddits.
Conclusion: EHG should still shut down. Stop servicing this market segment. It’s a huge waste of time. S4, S5, and Expansion will all be unprofitable.
Basic features of ARPGs that are not issues in POE1 and 2 are considered dealbreakers in LE.
Campaign not being finished is a dealbreaker.
Time spent working on campaign is time not spent fixing endgame and is also a dealbreaker.
Time spent on visuals is time not spent on game systems and is a dealbreaker.
Visuals not being improved is also a dealbreaker.
Doing everything takes time but seasons lasting longer than 4 months is a dealbreaker.
Pushing out focused seasons within 4 months means EHG is not working on other issues important to me and is a dealbreaker.
Everything is a dealbreaker. LE is the worst ARPG ever made. Grim Dawn is a quadrillion times better game.
See how it goes? What’s the point of servicing this market segment? It’s unprofitable. It’s unrewarding. It’s pure regardium.
EHG, please just make this public pledge and stick to it: if Season 4 is loss-making 1 month after release, EHG will terminate LE development immediately and end online play support within 2 months. Stop torturing yourselves.
There are infinitely better things to do with your lives as game developers or software developers in general. Please also seek counselling and therapy for PTSD and abuse.
Worse is a quality adjective.
Being profitable doesn’t really have anything to do with quality, most of the time, especially in gaming where the name of a series carries more weight than the game itself.
We can differ between subjective aspects and pure quality aspects though.
And a unfinished campaign (hence a non-full product sold as one) is a really really really big negative for ‘quality’.
So is being extremely buggy (TL3), an also unfinished campaign and engame (Wolcen) and being extremely P2W (DI).
And, as I mentioned, there are also dozens of extremely low effort ARPGs on the Steam store. So it’s a stretch to say that LE (or even any of those 3 examples) is “the worst ARPG ever”.
Which is why I didn’t mention those 2… they were awful
But service and quality are two different aspects. P2W is a service issue, not a quality issue. It can affect quality but is not inherently one, and the limits are rather wonky. So I excluded DI.
They can, except when your game is built towards facilitating the P2W aspect, as DI clearly is.
Adding a paid option to skip the campaign and get a level 70 character right away is a P2W feature that has low impact on quality.
Making it so that getting to level 70 without paying takes 2 years is something that will heavily impact quality, though.
DI is the last case, where endgame items don’t drop and have to be bought. Which is why it’s considered the worst Diablo of them all, despite D3 existing.
What’s wild to me is if you go to a food place and get a burger and you hate it, it’s the worst burger you’ve had in agesss or forever you wouldn’t just sit outside that shop and complain to the manager everytime he walks in, tell him to give up and shut the business down etc. Why do it on the forums? If you don’t like a game and you obviously think it’s not going in a direction you like or that it’ll ever change then why for the love of Sydney Sweenys boobs would you just sit here day after day complaining or making suggestions about the “worst ARPG ever made”
To me this is absolutely crazy. For the record I really hate corriander but I’m not going to sit on farmers subforums telling them to stop growing it haha, crazzzyyyy boys, crazy!
Thank you for voicing your concerns, but please, just go away now. If you don’t have anything positive to say, then say nothing. You are entitled to your opinions, but we’ve been down this road and it’s boring. EHG is NOT shutting down, so please get over it already and let the rest of us enjoy our game.
I sincerely hope this does not get me in trouble and it’s taken in the light-hearted manner in which it is meant, but if this sentence were the only thing in your comment my answer would be, unequivocally, YES.
You don’t like a feature maybe try suggesting what you would like. And no I’m not going to go through your previous posts and read them.
If your post is liked or loved by players and catches on fire, you may attract the attention of the devs. And eventually get a nice surprise of some version of what u asked into the game.
