Do both. Ban RMTers, cheaters, bots and remove the MG. D3 had the same problem on launch. It was more efficient to sit in town and RMT gear than it was to play the game.
So you can still use family sharing to play offline but you can’t use family sharing anymore.
Also sucks to behave like a dick, I don’t like it when either of my teenage boys say that either.
D3 had that problem because they were the ones that implemented RMT in the first place.
MG needs adjustments that will happen over time. But just because you prefer CoF doesn’t mean MG should go. Many players (myself included) actually prefer MG. If all I had was CoF I probably wouldn’t play the game as much as I do.
It’s not a question of whether or not I prefer CoF, it’s a fact that when you put an Auction House in your game, you’re inviting botters, farmers and the like. The sheer number of bots probably doesn’t help server stability any either.
I’m not saying to remove all trade, but find some way to castrate the bots. Maybe there’s a solution where they can keep the MG but eliminate the bots? Would be hard to do.
Maybe they can do a token system. You have objectives to complete which gives you the ability to post on the market. If you make that truly random with an infinite number of possible objectives, then it would be difficult for the bots to farm the tokens.
So EHG spends who knows how much time innovating and coming up with a brand new trade/SSF solution that no other game had done, which is widely praised by both their players and devs of other games (PoE/GGG). But they should just scrap all of that because some people are too cheap to buy the game for their relatives? lol
I do want to say that I understand everyone has different financial situations (with local currency/economies compounding that fact), and I do empathize with people who got screwed by this change and hope EHG figure out a better solution. But I do feel that if you’re advocating for getting rid of an entire game mode then you’re the one being selfish.
There isn’t. If there’s trade, there will be bots/RMT. Much like if there’s a leaderboard, there will be bots/cheaters. Much like if there is a chat, there will be rude and insulting people. The solution is not to remove those things, it’s to remove the offenders.
Doesn’t necessarily suck to behave like one. Being on the receiving end, I agree. I was also civil for many other comments, but the guy wants to throw imaginary arguments at me with no real basis, so why continue the charade of being civil.
'Cause you’re better than that.
Edit: Just because other people behave like a bellend doesn’t mean one should as well. Then they’re just dragging you down to their level (& likely beating you with experience).
Not to people who think their opinions makes them right.
Then you ignore them & move on (& I refer you to my edit).
Lol, “And likely beating you with experience.” True. I concede. You’re right, it’s aggravating. And it happens a lot on this forum, it’s easy to get annoyed with it.
He has a point, though. This was suddenly disabled and basically deleted what he was doing for 2 weeks, without any notice from EHG. He was distraught and upset about it and maybe didn’t express himself properly. But he was still right in his issue, even if he wasn’t witht he analogies.
This could have easily have been avoided by EHG communicating this decision properly before going through with it.
Well, and I did note that earlier, that EHG should have said something about it. I had also noted that it was unfortunate, but not something to come into the forums and attack EHG for, outside of EHG not being forward with the change before hand.
I get the feeling… I’m constantly drafting new messages and deleting them when I finish a sentence, cause I notice it’s just my nerves wanting to type. When that happens, I just go around looking for Llama’s and DJ’s responses to the nonsense… They can bash them in a classy way when I just want to scream. Then I calm down and go clear some echoes
In case people hadn’t seen it.
I’m torn on this subject. On one hand I can sympathize with the amount of legit players that have previously purchased the game and those that got it thinking it would have Family Sharing enabled. On the other hand I think it’s a great move to help combat the RMT spam that’s plaguing the global chat channels as of late.
However as a World of Warcraft veteran since 2004 I have seen how Blizzard Entertainment managed to introduce trial accounts and not have them interfere with the game world in a negative way. Here’s what they did:
- Trial accounts cannot whisper someone they are not friends with.
- Trial accounts cannot add people to friends, it has to be the other way around (if memory serves).
- Trial accounts cannot talk in global chat channels at all.
- Trial accounts are not allowed to use the Auction House (Trade).
- Trial accounts have a level limit of 20 (might not be necessary for Last Epoch).
I think a couple of these would translate well into this game rather than blatantly disabling Family Share for those legitimate players who enjoyed it.
Finally I would say that if you’re a “free” player that just wants another way to play without spending money - spend $35 and support EHG. Help make the game better.
It’s not the player’s fault that EHG decided to pull the rug out on a commonly used steam feature. The way they went about it without any apparent consideration for existing players that would obviously be affected is just awful.
There is no way that I will spend another 35$ after what they did with disabling Family Sharing without any information. If they wanted to do that, they should do that at 1.0 launch, not now.
WHAT difference does family sharing make to their bottom line? I’ll tell you what it is, ZERO.
You can only play the game one PC at a time not all of them playing the same game at the same time, t’s always been like that. Family sharing is Advertising for the company, maybe someone will think hmmmm maybe I want to play the same game at the same time as the other guy, maybe on the same team, I’ll go buy another copy of the game.
Logic does not fail.
