Steam Family share disabled - poor form guys

Yes, cars ToS don’t mention cameras in the driver’s car seat for the same reason they don’t mention using the boot to store dead bodies. Because those are covered by your country’s laws.
It’s TOTALLY the same thing as what’s being discussed here.

Using metaphors about physical things with regards to software is always very dodgy. You don’t buy a license to use a car, you buy the car. You don’t (anymore) buy the software, you buy a license to use the software.

Cars don’t generally have terms of services.

Can you not use the family sharing to play LE offline? I can get not being able to log in online & play it from the other account as LE uses your steam login details to access the account.

Most multiplayer games actually disable family share, because it’s a way to get around things like bans.

Except it is illegal to put security cameras in private spaces without prior consent and permission. Which blankets over car companies also, there for not requiring they have it in their ToS.

Ofcourse I can, but I’ve already spend many hours after 1.0 release, that was taken from me.

It was taken from an alternate account that didn’t buy the game. Sucks to suck.

To be fair, I’m actually more surprised that it was enabled in the first place.

My TIME was taken due to their changes in Family Sharing

Sorry pal. Stuff happens. Money talks and you didn’t spend it for your account.

Same. But it’s a nice feature to offer if it can be available. I in no way fault them for removing it. Though I do think they should say something if it was available and needed to stop for whatever reason.

Yea, like always money talks. Easiest thing to do is to say “sorry pal” spend another 40$ (price in my country, that is ridiculously high considering many richer countries have prices MUCH lower).

You don’t actually need to buy another copy. You still have the original one. You just have to start over. Unless you didn’t buy it and were playing from someone else’s copy.

In this case, this was done to stop RMTers, bots and spammers. Most people replying actually seem happy with the change.

As am I, happy with the change.

I’ve lost a lot of time to play Cycle 1, now I will have to wait until next season. Because of time that I have wasted, I am mad at this situation. I would play on Steam accout that owns this game if I knew that this thing is going to happen. Now, after 2 weeks, they are making that decision, that affect many people. That’s not cool.

Yes, it’s unfortunate that you were collateral damage. However, getting rid of RMTers and bot spamming is definitely very important.

And we’re 2 weeks into the cycle. If everything goes right, we still have at least 2.5 months to play. Though it’s possible that there might be delays with it and it might actually be longer. I can understand the frustration, but you don’t have to wait for the next season.

After changes they made, I’m not willing to start over from beggining. Frustration is too big. In 3 weeks there is PoE new expansion release, so Cycle 1 is over for me.
At least they should do some kind of ability to transfer characters between accounts. I know that it’s almost not possible.

Honestly, if they’re really concerned about RMT, delete the merchant’s guild. So long as that exists, people will RMT gold with the intention to buy gear from the market instead of playing the actual game.

If they did that, the only way to RMT that I can think of is if the seller is playing alongside you in order to farm resonance so that they could trade the item. Or a player would have to give up their account info to allow the seller to farm for them.

TLDR; removing the Merchant’s Guild significantly hampers RMT.

That’s like saying that if you want to get rid of offensive players, or cheaters, you should just get rid of multiplayer.

MG is a tool for players. What they need to do is ban RMTers and bots, not get rid of MG.

Now this is funny.
Was just reading the reddit post to which EHG responded on this “issue” and there were actually people there asking for this: “remove trade but not the family share to stop RMT”.

Yeah, sure they’ll remove the most anticipated feature of the game since release…
