Stable Crash on entering Forsaken Trail

Hi!
After updating Win10 to 19043 some stability came in, but now there is stable crash when entering “The Forsaken Trail” map. When using teleport - no crash.
Maximum background processes are disabled and no programs are running in background during play.

Also trere is a sometime “black screen” issue when entering zones or using town portal - all backgroung turnes black, but UI is not hidden but game continues to run.

Hey.

The black screen issue has happened before and seemed to be related to 3 possible things:

  1. GPU drivers sometimes caused this and rolling back to a previous driver resolved it.
  2. Game file corruption - verifying the game files if you are using Steam can sometimes resolve this.
  3. Resetting the graphics settings sometimes resolves this - Renaming the le_graphicsmanager.ini file while the game is not running and then starting it again. (Be sure to change the defaults back to what you want to use once you have done this).

Loading into a new map crashing is usually related to 3 things:

  1. GPU drivers & DirectX - sometimes a safe mode driver reinstall is required.
  2. Corrupted game files - reinstall or steam game file verification needed.
  3. In-game graphic settings - try setting everything to very low graphic quality or disabled and test the loading again… If it stops crashing then thats the issue. It could be something simple like grass or shadow settings so be sure to set everything to its lowest while testing.

If the map loading only crashes on ONE specific map, then please check if it crashes for all your characters or only one specific one - there could be something wrong with that specific character - or it could be a very specific bug.

Also… if you are using the autocast trick with Numlock while moving between maps - disable it and test if the map transition still crashes.

If you are consistently crashing when entering the same zone over and over, unplug the current audio device right before entering the zone. Alternatively you can alt tab and change your default sound output device right before entering the zone.

Thanks for feedback!
I’ve also disabled Realtek audio HD process, dropped le_graphicsmanager.ini and lowered graphics to low quality. After that i’ve managed to play about 2 hours before the next crash)
It seems that the next step is to downgrade Nvidia graphical driver and play more with ingame graphics settings.

BYTW I’m playing mage through lightning blast mainly, no more characters created.

New constant crash on entering Ancient Forest rift in the Shattered Valley!

I’ve used @EHG_Mike advice on changing sound device.
Also downgraded video driver with clean setup, now it’s 466.11 from april release.
All graphical settings dropped to very low with antialiasing off.
Not using steam package, cause it’s currently not even loading after starting new game.
After all this - still crashing.

P.S. No macros/autocast stuff used, game folder size not changed in bytes.

Finally I’ve managed to go to Ancient Forest after installing nvidia 466.77 version of the graphical driver. No changes to other things.

Finally, the only thing that completely eliminated all crashes and black screen issue - wrapper from here.
Placed d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll to the game folder.
Had to search through the net for a day for this solution)

I missed that you were using Wine… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
