As far as I’m aware, they can only access it with my permission, which entering my details does. So they don’t have access, the have the ability should I wish it.

You didn’t have to input any password nor link your account. If I know the name of your characters (and your profile is public) I can import your characters and see them, just like you can do mine.
That being said, there is no benefit from the site trying to datamine accounts (not to mention you need to know both account name and character name) so you can rest assured your data is safe(ish, as safe as anything in today’s web anyway).
