So you're advertising your game as finished 21st February but 3 chapters of story missing on release

I knew i would find what i was looking for here! Thanks for fixing all the errors above!!

Without detailed information, we can only speculate what went wrong. I somehow doubt that the problems are due to EHG being stingy, resulting in a lack of hardware.

The servers run quite stable for all but zone transitions/matchmaking. Barely any lags, few disconnects, no rollbacks.

My speculation is that maps or clusters of maps run on dedicated servers. When a player moves from one map to another, their session data has to be transferred to another server that hosts this map.

From the announcement threat, I got that some application didn’t work as intended. The handler that connects the players to the respective servers and transfers the session data etc. So if your session was successfully transferred to one of the monolith instances/servers, you never change the zone: the game runs smoothly for hours.

Of course, this is speculation, but it is based on several articles I read over the years, especially on EVE Online and stackless python.

Yes, once you weren’t trying to connect to a town instance things ran fine, it was just when the matchmaking server got involved because you were trying to zone into a town that’s when the problems happened, in my experience.

youre not? looks like youve literally only been here arguing semantics…

the roadmap has been around. if you ONLY look at a steam page and literally zero other information about a game before buying it, then you only have yourself to blame really. why are you making uninformed decisions and then blaming the devs for it?
the vast majority of people playing this game knew exactly what they were getting out of it. you making yourself an exception to that is pretty distinctly your own problem.

If you dont like it… refund the game and move on? The game and the devs were never disingenuous or deceptive, you just didnt bother to look for ANYTHING about the game before buying it. Enjoy the tea and muffins though!

This is my experience/thoughts as well. If you can get past the matchmaker (town instance) and try really hard not to return, it’s not horrible (mostly, it’s not bad).

Which is rough, because (as far as I can tell) the only reason towns are communal is cosmetics.

No, Mike has said that that’s not why, they use fewer server resources per user. If each town instance used 100 server juice & they only had 1 person in, that’s 100 server juice per person, but if they can put 10 people in the town then that’s only 10 server juice per person.

Did you read or watch game of thrones? Dune? The wheel of time? Harry potter when the first book(s) came out? Of the examples I mentioned, only harry potter is actually finished. George r martin needs to write the last book, dune has been completed by other writers, as had wheel of time. yet most people started reading from when the first book was released. Why? Because they were good. Last epoch is a work in progress, like all rpg’s. heck even grim dawn has an expansion coming. Is that game incomplete because of that? What about WoW? That story hasnt ended yet? 1.0 is only a number, not an indicator of a final product

To be honest, Robert Jordan had a tragic and valid reason why he didn’t finish Wheel of Time himself.

Gotcha.

To bad the trade off was this waves at the current shit show

Because the authors died. And TBH, the guys that carried on the Dune books sucked sucked so hard.

The state of the launch wasn’t the “trade off” for having MP towns.

point → head. You read the first books and loved them even though the story wasn’t completely finished. The quality of the first book wasnt diminished by there being no second at the time

Ceylon cinnamon adds flavor that’s nice
But disregard if allergic to this spice.

I never said it did, I just said that the guys that “finished” (& then did a bunch of other prequels/sequels/pre-prequels) could not write for toffee.

very good points, beside your points a few big games in this genre have the same things.
Path of exile didnt had a finished campaign either for a long time.
D4 doesnt have a finished campaign story either yet which will continue in the Vessel of hatred in october this year.
