I was having issues logging in earlier today, and when I did manage to log in, I noticed that my shared stash, gold, and crafting materials were missing.
Yesterday, it was all fine when I was playing… so I don’t know what could’ve happened. My characters are not solo characters.
I did download the game on my Linux desktop to log in to check there, but upon logging in, I had no characters available… which is very odd.
Everything related to your savegames and shared stash etc are stored in local files (and backed up to Steam cloud if you use that feature)… There are no online savegames on an EHG server someone on the net…
On windows these files are in
C:\Users[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games\Last Epoch\
On linux they are in (usually)
~/.config/unity3d/Eleventh Hour Games/Last Epoch/
If you are 100% sure you havnet confused the game modes re shared stash etc then carry on reading…
The shared stash is in the Global Data file and the savegames are are each character you created. If ANYTHING happens to these files during a crash or some other event, then they can become corrupted… What you can try and do is backup the files and then replace the ones that are NOT suffixed by _temp with the temp files (just delete/rename)… You MAY be lucky and the temp file replacement could work again… Cannot guarantee it but you have nothing else to lose…
Thanks for taking the time to reply with those details. I wasn’t aware that character/stash data was stored locally and synced via Steam cloud.
Unfortunately I think somewhere in the process of Steam cloud syncing, it must’ve gotten overridden or something, which is a shame. I’m not particularly fussed… just lost a few uniques and gold, but whatever! Haven’t even reached endgame yet! So not a huge loss.
I’m interested to know why my characters don’t appear on my Linux environment, even though I’ve Steam cloud enabled.
Honestly dont know - Steam Cloud can be very fussy based on which system is considered the primary (i.e. master copy) and I have had so many issues with it messing up in the past that i personally no longer use it… Some people find it works fine for them, I dont… As far as I know the savefiles are interchangeable on Linux/Windows so you could try manually copying them if you wanted to …
