Rune Prisons and Experimental Items | Coming in Runes of Power

Will there be new Loot Filter rules for the experimental items and affixes?

By the looks of the screenshot, forging potential isnt increased for an experimental item, doesn’t this put us in a place where until our corruption is high enough we mostly get exalteds, it’s not really going to be worthwhile doing rune prisons, as the gear we can craft very early on will outclass these items?

Like this will be fun later on into endgame, but most people probably wont get there, and early on while fun, if they just have normal forging potential amounts, using them will be a nerf (gearing is just hitting checkboxes, you could miss one of those for one of these effects, but then you just nerfed yourself).

Seems fun, but i don’t see this actually changing much for most people. Getting a magic one is just going to feel like you waste your time.

Experimental items are good.
I like experiments! :test_tube:

I don’t know fulll view yet, but I want some experimental note in the game that don’t depend to website or other 3rd party service.

Glyph of insight works on gloves, boots, belts.
So does Experimental Items exist these item type only? :thinking:

Yes, as the other armour slots are class-specific and you generally want the class-specific prefixes on those.

Not sure I like this whole figure out which affixes required to get a certain affix idea. It is gonna be found out/datamined once by community and whole mechanic is gone. It turns into “try to craft certain affixes on certain bases to get desired affix” mechanic. I guess I will wait and see what exactly are the requirements for certain affixes but I hope they are not too restrictive. That would make crafting more tedious for just complexity’s sake. I don’t see the fun here.

But that is his point.

At this point, once it’s datamined, it is no longer “experimenting” but just replicate a certain combination of affixes that are known.

We have to see how it will turn out, but there are some valid concerns here.

I gonna go fully blind and ”expirement” stuff and hopefully get some lovely results.

Yup, that’s how experimenting with deterministic systems works in the real world.

Actually, there is a way to acquire them, sort of. You can change an affix to an experimental affix using the Glyph of Insight. There is a video online that shows how to calculate which experimental affix you will get based on a few different factors so you can target the right one.

One other excellent thing about crafting them is that on a “critical” upgrades they can actually increase just like any other affix. I’ve got several amazing Experimental pieces, all were crafted.

I think the drops are much more relevant while leveling. By the time you get to endgame, if you want to use an experimental affix you really should be crafting it.

Well, I thought the same at the beginning. Then all 1.0 paladins (and most other sentinels) suddenly skipped a few thousands corruption levels simply by equipping one of these affixes, so it is hard to call them useless now. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
(I know, they are mostly abusing a slight overlook in the testing of one skill. The affix still makes them immortal.)

And yes, you can craft whichever one you want, pretty much at any tier you want, and it can become sealed for free. Arguably the only bit of crafting in LE with no RNG, that’s powerful.

It’s in this actual version or it’s something done years ago ?
