First of I am not your dude and no this is not a sophism.
Throwing clever words around doesn’t make you look smart.
It does change it for the majority of the communtiy at least. Your are speaking from a personal and anecdotal level.
But the matter of fact is, that when a ARPG releases a big patch (season) the entirety of the community starts playing it and its considerd like an “event” for the first few days/weeks.
I personally have more FUN, when a game has meaningful choices instead of clicking some buttons in menues and changing the entire foundation of a character.
You can agree or disagree, that is fine, but games like this are thriving because of the community and voicing concerns is aprt of that.
I will not quit playing LE because of this, but it is one of a select few choices EHG made, that I disagree much to a large extend. And I am very worried what will result out of this. Peopel will move goalposts and request even more of these types of “features”.
And this can continue to hurt my fun with the game.
No, just no, you aint making 1 million gold that fast to swap before empowered monos, and you certainly wont want to spend it on a re-spect if you’re playing MG (for reference at the launch of 1.1 I remember red rings being 5 million gold on day 2-3)
Even if it isn’t before corrupted monoliths, it will certainly be before the big Harbinger boss which has some very valuable drops. This is more of a “wait and see” kinda thing, so we’ll check back in a week and a half and re-assess.
I mean, yeah, if you beat aberroth you basically beat the game, and if you wanna re-spec at that point I dont mind that at all. My point is nobody is gonna run a mastery for campaign and then swap it when they reach monos if they cost 1 million gold (I’m referring to day 1 launch btw, obviously later on is different when you have a bunch of gold)
Well we don’t know what it’ll cost either, right? It could cost a pocket’s worth of spare coins for all we know. I know they are gonna be on the look out for people potentially abusing it if it costs too little, but we just don’t know yet what that cost is. Unless we do and I’m just dumb and didn’t read the cost.
The gif at the very top of the post shows the cost. Granted I assume it depends on your characters level, the number isnt a clean round 1 million so it’s probably cheaper the lower character level you have. I certainly hope that they made it steep enough that it isnt feasible to just swap mastery after the campaign on day 1
Yea, def a “wait and see” sort of thing. Might be dirt cheap post-Majasa/pre-Monos. My judgement is reserved. Personally, I don’t love the idea regardless and won’t be makin’ use of it, as it won’t effect me anyway since I’m not a Merchant-Man or a Ladder-Lord
Maybe I’m terribly wrong but imho there’s no way you can have even half million gold when you start empowered monos, unless you finish the whole campaign and basically loot and vendor anything you don’t need since level 1. At least in CoF. MG could be another story if you’re luck enough while leveling, I’ll give you that. But honestly imho MG ladders have way less “value” than CoF ladders because they’re exclusively luck based with valuable drops.
If you rush because you’re a ladder guy, it’s even worse. Take whatever zero to hero video from Dr3ad and try to see if you see a frame where he shows the inventory (aka gold the toon has) when he starts empowered monos.
I can’t really see a scenario where people rush to empowered mono with a mastery and then swap to a slightly more efficient mastery to gain 10 minutes in whatever ladder rush (and again they prolly won’t have enough money to do it if they rush). There may be some but you can’t balance an entire game around them.
Personally, I don’t underestimate people, ladder-lovers especially, to make things work. People who are good at the game and have enough game knowledge might very well be able to do whatever the heck they wanna do.
Like I was tellin’ the other guy, it’s all speculative and we just gotta wait and see how expensive respecs actually are, bc as of now we have very little to go off of and no concrete evidence to say what it’s going to cost directly after the campaign.
We can go back and forth all day assuming costs and how much people can or can’t make before certain milestones but we just don’t know.
I’m sorry you don’t like clever words but it’s still a sophism.
This game is a single player game, you play it mostly ALONE. What you do in game doesn’t affect other players but the 0,1% of people possibly interested in ladders. It’s sooooo multiplayer that there are 90 types of solo self found modes, guess why.
I will reserve my final judgement when I’ll see the gold cost progression of respec, but given that any alt can get to empowered monos in about 10 hours it you chill (1 to regular monos is a 5 hours thing with alts even if you chill) I honestly don’t see much harm in saving those 10 hours to have fun in a different and more satisfying way.
No one wants a one button game, but doing half the campaign 90 times just to try other masteries does not provide any added value for me, honestly. I’m doing it and I would do it anyways because it’s short, but for example there’s no fokkin way ill ever play PoE 2 if to “master” another toon I have to go through a 20 hours campaign for every toon.
Besides one specifically, and that’s the dungeon charm which allow to skip to the boss. Content skipping rather then improving is not the way, and it’ll be hard to remove that in the future, basically making dungeon content outside of bosses non-existent for everything but the - anyway not used - soulfire bastion.
In other people’s opinions, other ladders matter to them. So this change effects them more. And that was more my argument. Like I said, it doesn’t bother me, but I can understand how it’s bother the more competitive player base.
I may not agree with Heavy, but I know that he’s not a deceptive person. If he’s putting forth an argument then it’s because that’s what he believes. I, however, I will totally troll people if I’m bored &/or they’re being dumb.
