PC performance decreased while launching the game or loading a map

Hello everyone,

When there is something of the game loading (the launch / map change), my pc is almost freezing. When I move my cursor, it is moving frame per frame even though the FPS indicator of steam is saying 60+.

The game is on a NVME m2, I have a i7 9700k, 32go ram and rtx 3070ti.
When I play other games, I don’t have such issue.

Changing from all the setting very low to very high or very high to very low does not help either. I am trying to understand by tweaking the settings but the problem seems to remain. Does anyone know what could be the issue ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

edit: it only helps when using “v-sync: half”

Hey there… Welcome to the forums…

Have you tried changing the display mode from Windowed to Fullscreen? or vice versa?

if this makes no difference, please post your player.log, dxdiag output and le_graphicsmanager.ini file…

Hi,

How do I do ? I have never extracted game data before.
I am looking at the local files but I cannot find the info you ask me.

Thank you very much for your assistance

The files on windows are in:
BootDrive:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Eleventh Hour Games

How to Open and run DxDiag.exe

The displaymode is an option in the in-game graphics setting… Some 30 series users have found that setting the displaymode to FullScreen helps with strange stuttering… Its just something to try until you post your specific files.

General things to do when having problems with LE:

  1. Verify your game files.
  2. Check your GPU drivers - they need to be something from the last 2-3 months
  3. Make sure your OS is updated and patched

I did try the switch between Windowed full screen and full screen before creating this post but it did not help. Both seem to work correctly.

Files verified. Checked
GPU drivers updated. Checked
Windows updates. Checked

DxDiag file below
DxDiag1.txt (110.4 KB)

Thank you. Please can you post your other files… the player.log is the game debug info and the le_graphicsmanager.ini is the in-game setting file.

From your info:

  • OS & GPU drivers seem fine & up to date.

  • Please can you make sure that your Steelseries devices are all updated and using the latest software… Unlikely to be involved but some other input device software has had issues with the Unity game engine that LE uses… Same with any motherboard software / bios etc.

  • The diagnostic section of your dxdiag file (end) shows that you are having a lot of apps that Windows is reporting are not handling their memory correctly… Last Epoch is one, but RidersRepublic.exe TheFalconeer.exe Psychonauts2-WinGDK-Shipping.exe RDR2.exe SystemStatsOHM.exe Craftopia.exe and even brave.exe. These kinds of errors are not usually a problem but I find it odd that so many apps are reporting the same RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 error… Its common for a beta app to do this, but not usually released apps - at least not this often… Its unlikely that you have a memory problem on your system but this does strike me as odd.

  • The only thing that is crashing on your system is ArmouryWebBrowserEdge.exe. I have seen other players that are using similar and they have plenty of crashes with Armoury related apps… I have no idea if this is affecting your system but its never good to have things crashing… so I would uninstall / update it…

Regarding the memory management issues… Are you running any third party applications on your system that could be affecting all the different apps that Windows is reporting as having memory issues? Just trying to think of why you would be getting so many of them on such a variety of apps/games…

I may be blind because when I search in the local files of the games, I cannot find player.log and le_graphicsmanager.ini file to share you.

RidersRepublic.exe = is uninstalled
TheFalconeer.exe is uninstalled
Psychonauts2-Win = is uninstalled
GDK-Shipping.exe RDR2.exe = don’t know what it is
SystemStatsOHM.exe = software of Steelseries
Craftopia.exe = just uninstalled
Brave.exe = currently using it
RDR2 = installed but not using it

I find it weird there are some dust of applications that have been uninstalled are still there. Except Riders Republic, the other installed were running via Xbox App.

Armoury => I just updated some drivers with it.
I just tested if the update of those drivers would make a difference but actually not.

Is there a way to solve RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 error ?

You need to view hidden / system files to see the folder.

The logs show the most recent error in order they happened with newest first so there could be apps you removed that are still in the error logs… Assuming of course that they are properly uninistalled… You can “View Reliability History” on windows 10 to see more detail of all errors on your system…

Maybe there is/was an isue with the Xbox app…

Armoury… yes… it seems like this is not a very good app stability wise… quite a few players have armoury crashes in their logs…

RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 errors dont normally need to be resolved… As I understand it, these errors are Windows just saying “Whoa… some app closed/ended but didnt manage its memory use properly” … Windows then recovers the memory and things should be fine… If lots of apps are having these errors and windows struggles to “fix” things then this can be a problem, but a few of these errors is not the end of the world… The error messages change to things like BEX64 or other errors if an app is voilating memory space etc but these are usually logged as proper crashes and tend to make systems reboot or bluescreen…

With your player.log and le_graphicsmanager.ini I might be able to recommend other things to look at…

I was looking at local files of Last Epoch… That’s why I couldn’t fin them.

Here they are.

le_graphicsmanager.ini (477 Bytes)
Player.log (36.6 KB)

Hope it helps cross fingers

Ok…

The player.log looks relatively normal… It just seems to have the usual debug messages for the developers… There doesnt seem to be anything I dont see in my own or other players logs… I am not a Unity developer so take that with a pinch of salt but to me it seems like the game is not logging anything that could explain what you are experiencing…

Your in-game settings have a few things to try:

  1. You have not enabled any framerate limiting… This means that LE has nothing stopping it from maxing out your GPU for extended periods of time… This is known to cause instability (crashes), freezes and fps spikes while playing… Without using a framerate limit, the rest of the settings dont tend to make any difference because LE will max out the GPU with very low quality (faster fps) or ultra quality (processing)… Your primary monitor supports 144hz so thats 144fps… which is, imho, too high for the current state of the game - even on a 3070. I would recommend you set a framerate limit to 60fps - just while testing to see if it makes a difference.

  2. Ultra quality settings are known to cause problems for some players… especially if you are running higher resolutions like 1440p+ where the added pixels compound the processing needed. With the framelimit enabled, try and drop all the settings to High and see if it makes a difference.

  3. Other settings like Grass.Shadows etc could also make a difference… Try disabling them or setting them to very low and seeing if this makes any difference… Note: There is a bug in AA - leave it on TAA or disabled… do not use SMAA

  4. From my personal experience (and helping others here) I have found that if you are conservative with the settings you can have a more stable and smoother experience in the game… For example, on my 1060, I can get 100fps+ or play at Ultra mode… but the game has freezes, crashes or big fps spikes… if I set it to very low quality and limit the framerate to 55-60fps then I dont have any problem and the game runs perfectly… Obviously the beta game is unoptimised and the devs will eventually deal with this, but for now this seems to be the best way to approach any performance problems with the game…

This “bug” of instability only occurs when the v-sync is not on “half”. Otherwise, while simply playing, I encounter no problems. It runs very smoothly with all settings on max.

While playing with v-sync: half, it caps my fps at 75 fps and runs smoothly :slight_smile:
I will continue this way until upcoming patches then. This “freeze” triggered me a bit knowing Those are the only moments I encoutner “bad performances” playing. As the development of the game seems going pretty well, I am certain it will be solved soon.

Anyway, thanks again for taking your time and effort trying solving this issue.

Appreciate it. :+1:
