I’m getting a hang at the area load screen from the Character Select screen immediately after logging in. Left it running for 10 minutes. Posted a bug report. This just started after applying the latest patch. No issues a few days ago.
I know server authoritative is relatively new.
Do you happen to have server-side watchdogs implemented yet that might catch and log these kind of failure domains for load issues. Just from experience, this makes a world of difference turning this process from event interrupt to scheduled/proactive.
Not being able to play at all really sucks. I’ve worked in IT ops for about a decade. We usually have various tooling that does things like this to facilitate no-downtime a/b migrations (and other things like chaos monkey behavior).
Also, on a side note, just as an FYI; it seems Steam is flagging all links directly to your website as being malicious links. You might want to have someone look into that.
Hi, Yes, initially it found several files that could not be validated. Performing the check again after completion shows it was corrected (no files failed). Loading the game, then runs into the same hanging issue. After closing the game a second time, peforming the verify step again shows 1 file has failed integrity (again).
As a follow-up, this seems to now be resolved. It doesn’t appear that any updates have been pushed so I’m guessing it must have been server side or of some other transient nature.
While it is no longer crashing, I am still occasionally seeing some other really buggy behavior, such as clicking on respawn button after a death too quickly can occasionally respawn me outside the playable area (i.e in a wall that seems random), or the respawn window closes and won’t reopen while I remain dead, it doesn’t respawn requiring an area load (triggered by traveling on the map) to work around (really annoying when this happens in certain areas like Lagon where you then have to make your way back through 3 different zones.
Though these definitely aren’t show-stoppers as the failing to load at login screen was.
