No penalty for death in SC mode - suggestions

The game does not have a penalty for death in SC mode, this is very boring.
I am coming out to you with a suggestions

  1. Suggestion
  • Penalty for death normal monoliths = -5% exp
  • Penalty for death empowered monoliths = -10% exp
  1. Suggestion
I came up with the idea because I see in the very late game the mindless pushing of corruption which becomes boring for a long time.
  • Penalty for death on Corrpution over 200+ = loss of 5-10% of all corruption

Then you should play PoE, then you will have your penalties.

I’m glad they don’t exist here. Why ? You farm for hours and in the end you did it all for nothing and you mustn’t even have been responsible for the death. A lag, a dc whatever…

Sorry 4 my bad English

I’m a PoE player and I play Last Epoch in SSFHC mode. I came up with this idea after talking to friends who play SC.

There is a death penalty for dying in monoliths, you lose your reward for that specific monolith.

It does have a penalty, it just doesn’t come into play until monos and isn’t too severe.
Die there and you lose the reward at the end.

You beat me to it.

ā€œBut why should I loose something I’ve already earnedā€ throws toys out of pram

There is a punishment for dieing already, you loose the mono node reward. Plus if you die on a quest echo you loose stability.

And it used to be you would lose progress for the quests, but I think they removed that in 1.0, I have not seen it lately. When I would be underleveled for bosses during early access, I would have to farm some more monoliths to fight the boss again. Although, like I said earlier it looks that that was removed.

No, it’s still there. I died to Lagon several times & had to do another mono to regain stability.

I have died in echoes a few times when I was just barely over the requirement.
Doesn’t feel like I lost any stability.

You did, die more.

The current punishment is so small that I forgot about it. I think it should be more severe

I think they reduced the stability penalty, but it’s still there.

Then we would have people asking for something to prevent at least some part of the penalty, like the omens they brought to PoE.
I mean, there’s already threads here complaining about how long it takes to level to 100 (which I don’t agree with, but some people do), so I’m sure what I wrote above would happen pretty fast.

If the devs wanted a more severe punishment, we would have it.
Not all games need xp penalties.
I think the current system is fine.

If so, they reduced it too much.
I was arrogant and went up against Black Sun Rahyeh with basically no void resistance.
Died several times, and never fell below the requirement despite just barely having reached it the first time.

The only thing I did between attempts was to increase my resistance, no monos.

I died a few times to Lagon until I got a hang of the fight again since I didn’t play for a the last few months of early access and I didn’t notice any lose of stability.

We share the same experience then.
I remember losing much larger chunks of stability when I played the beta.

I just tried it. Went to some random echo I don’t care about and let myself die. I didn’t lose stability. So that was changed since beta. The only penalty now is losing the echo reward.

Did you try dying in a quest or just in normal echoes?
I’m pretty sure I failed a quest after 1.0 and needed to do one or two more echoes for me to be able to retry the boss.
But yes, they definitely reduced the amount lost.

Rahyeh is definitely a quest echo.
Wasn’t empowered though.

I do think you should lose some when you die.

I just tried it on a quest and no stability loss. However, this was an empowered mono, where quest echoes are optional. Don’t have enough stability to try on the boss for now, but I expect the behaviour to be the same.
